    1.  If we are sailing on Royal Caribbean Vision of the Seas, do you know how long it takes to walk from ship to train station?  I think I read there are free shuttle busses.  Perhaps the shuttle bus would get us closer to the train station faster?  Where does the shuttle bus go specifically?

    2.  Are there different locations for the Civitavecchia Express versus the regular or regional trains?

    I found this -- https://www.civitavecchiaport.org/port-mobility-shuttle-buses/

    Thank you.

copied and pasted the above from a similar question to yours posted under Odyssey of the Seas May 25th.

I would 'nt plan on walking with luggage and its very hot in summer. The $3 shuttle is direct from ship to station..no stops. Does a loop from ship to station and back. The train you get depends on where you wish to get off . Frecce at 9.16 goes direct to Rome Termini other Regional trains stop at different places and are therefore slower.....and cheaper. Look on website Trenitalia.com. A "Me and You" fare is cheaper than booking individually but only offered on certain trains. Frecce is one. You can also pay $2 extra each to book a specific seat on Frecce. At least thats what we did. The train was quite full when it arrived so make sure you get on the right carriage which is marked only on the door where you enter the train and not on the side of the carriage itself.

Not sure where to ask this question since it’s specific to the Odyssey, but here goes: Trying to book train tickets for our upcoming cruise. We’re doing a private transfer from Rome to the ship, but will be taking the train back to Rome after the cruise. If we are self-carry, what time can we expect to be allowed to disembark? I know there’s an FB train at 9:16 and 11:16 and regional trains in between which take longer. Would we be able to make the 9:16 train? Thanks

    see answer below:
We just disembarked on Sunday am from ODYSSEY. You can walk off around 6-30 to 7am. Go to your left when you reach the coach parking and there is a Shuttle Bus sign. The city run shuttle is 3 Euro to the train station and takes about twelve minutes. We had  booked the 9.16 train but got there too early and had to wait 90 minutes for the train. Our tickets were not permited to change time. The regional train and another
Frecce train left while we were waiting. The station is NOT a comfortable place to wait and it was hot.   You can easily have a leisurely breakfast on board and make the 9.16 train  or the one before it which goes direct to Rome Termini . Other trains stop at stops along the way....so depending where you want to go. Rome Termini is crazy busy but right outside the station is a taxi rank. The ship will not tell you about the 3 euro shuttle as they charge 25 US each to take you on the same short trip to the station.
    good luck.

Thanks Euro Cruiser-confirms our decision to spend a little more and take the 9:16 Frecce train.

You can book a ME and YOU ticket and seats for about 26 euro for two.  Take note of carriage number and get on the right one. It's a long walk through the train and people with luggage if you get on the wrong carriage.  We saw #2 and thought it was our carriage but it was actually #6 which was posted on the door itself and not on the front of carriage...if you follow me.

  6. So sorry for you....agree about US requirements. Hindsight is 20/20.

Good of you to give heads up to others but we all think it won't happen to us ...till it does.

Hope you get through the 10days and mild covid symptoms.

Let's hope the Government relaxes their entry requirements for cruise ships soon as it will be a deterrent for many whose itinerary includes Israel.

The health ministry has just announced that starting May 20 2022 there will no longer be mandatory pcr tests for those arriving at Ben Gurion Airport.

In addition, starting this Tuesday May 10,  2022 non Israelis or a class visa holders will be allowed to take a lab based antigen within 24 hours of takeoff to Israel instead of a pcr within 72 hours of takeoff.

Check the Israel  Ministry of Health web site  for official statement.

  8. copied from another posting. We emailed the pharmacy and booked.

"I was able to arrange a covid test in the town of Civitavecchia for my wife and myself the day before the cruise,  The price was 10 Euros each.  I emailed them at farmaciapaoloturchi@gmail.com  to make an appointment and received an answer the next day for an appointment.  Thought this might help some who were staying in Civitavecchia. if you wanted to get a test there.  "

Hi. Larry here from Hilo, Hawaii. Embarking in Rome for my first MSC cruise.

Since I am traveling so far to get to Rome, I will have to get my PCR or Antigen test once in Italy in order to adhere to the MSC pre-boarding test policy.

Does anyone know if it is easier to get the pre-cruise test at Fiumicino airport once I land or will I be able to find a pharmacy in Civitavecchia?

Will be arriving day before the cruise so I have time to get the test.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

  10. From Tuesday 10.5.22 (Subject to approval by the Knesset):

Only holders of a visitor's visa (b/2) will be required to take a COVID test before boarding a cruise the next embarkation of which will be in Israel. Holders of all other visas (a/1, a/2, a/3, a/4, a/5, b/1, b/3, b/4) – will be exempt from such test.
Holders of a visitor's visa (b/2) can choose between a PCR test, taken in the 72 hours before boarding the cruise to Israel, and a rapid (antigen) test at an authorized testing site, taken in the 24 hours before boarding the cruise to Israel by professional samplers (not an at-home test).

    https://corona.health.gov.il/en/abroad/cruise/

I believe visitors are automatically issued a b/2 visa on arrival

My parents leave on the Carnival Splendor on Monday and they just received their Walgreens test results back however when I made the appointments for them I accidentally entered the wrong birth year for my father. (My mothers birth year instead) Walgreens says that they cant correct the date. Do you think he will have a problem getting on the ship? Any ideas what we should do? They have already taken off for their flight.

I doubt anyone will be checking birthdates as well as all the vaccination and test results. Dont worry,

  12. Interesting R.C. does not offer a shore excursion for Haifa, Israel on May 28th and the ship isnt even listed as being scheduled to dock that day in Haifa. See the HAIFA Port official schedule here:   https://www.haifaport.co.il/en/cruise-schedule/   Israel hasn't allowed any cruise ships to dock for two years and no word as yet on this year opening up.HAIFA and ASHDOD are still on the itinerary . Any thoughts on this?

For my sailing the card is currently selling at $31. I'm not sure if It includes gratuities or not. If it does, then it comes out to $2.06 per coffee. If it doesn't, then it's $2.43 per cup.  Check your cruise planner for availability.

yes I bought it today and it added on gratuities
