  1. Looking to book a flight into Trieste for a cruise. Most all of the flights have at least one plane change in the USA and then again in Frankfort Germany. The one in Frankfort is one hour. Would we have time to get to our new gate? Don't we have to stand in line to go through immigration/customs before boarding our flight into Italy? I can't find a longer layover in Frankfort without also getting a long layover in the USA, which is nuts.

  2. I've never been to one of the private islands in the Caribbean, so I have a question. We're sailing on the Allure, Aug 29, and one of the stops is their private island. Can you get off the ship and enjoy some of the pools and activities, or are they all fee based? There is a package for all day pass at the waterpark. Do we have to pay in order to do anything?

  3. John Bull, thank you so much!  I was thinking of visiting Winchester for an evening pre-cruise, but, it's beginning to sound much simpler to just go on to Southampton. It looks like Gatwick has a direct train to Southampton Central, correct? We'll be arriving in Gatwick's north terminal. Is there a train station there or is it in the south terminal? How do I know what platform.

I apologize for being so needy! I've never been on a train aside from the narrow gauge tourist trains.

Thank you for your time and effort. It's so appreciated!

  4. Please redirect me if I should be posting this elsewhere.... We're taking a side trip to Isle of Man before the cruise.  Upon our return to London we'll be arriving at the Gatwick airport. We need to get from Gatwick to Winchester (The King Alfred) for a night before traveling on to the port for our cruise. What is the best means of transport to get to Winchester, and then on to Southampton? We're four senior citizens with luggage.  I've looked at the train websites and left there more confused than ever. Thanks ever so much!!

  5. I'm not sure where to ask this, so hoping you guys steer me to the correct place if this isn't it.

We have a cruise out of Rio (on the Sun) that begins 3/30/17. The ship will actually overnight in port and leave on the 31st. All the other cruises that I've been on we depart the same day and have to be onboard 2 hours before departure. Since we're overnighting, can we check in late in the day (maybe early evening) on the 30th?

I called NCL but didn't get a confident answer.

    Thanks for any help!

  6. What country are you from? US citizens don't need a visa to Argentina. At one time there was a reciprocity fee for citizens of some countries like the US to enter Argentina, but I believe that is no longer true.

I'm from the USA. We're flying to Rio to board the ship for a 10 day cruise, traveling down to Buenos Aires. We need a visa for Brazil.

  7. Thank you both! I'm searching multiple hotel sites but it helps so much talking with people who have been there.

The four of us are in out 60's and 70's, and while we enjoy a nice walk we do wish to be fairly close to our hotel while we're out and about. Unless, of course, we're on a motorized tour.

Now, if I can just figure out the confusing visa application. Reading the comments on CC I've come to the conclusion that we can apply for the visa outside of 90 days prior to the trip and inside 90 days prior. lol.

One thing that does have me baffled- how does one get a notarized copy of a driver's license? Can a notary stamp a simple copy of one?

  8. Oh - sorry. :o :p

Partial transit - Sailing on the Island Princess out of Ft Lauderdale to Aruba, Costa Rica, Columbia, Panama and Jamaica. It's a 10 day cruise that begins Nov 29 and returns to Ft Lauderdale on Dec 10.

I'm also wondering if the ship will have Christmas decorations up that early?
