I thoroughly enjoyed it in March on Discovery when I did it. I had to think long and hard about the price before I took the plunge. I justified it as it was just me, so only paying for 1 meal and not 2 and because I wasn't doing any excursions or drink packages which I felt offset the cost. Spa treatments, excursions, cabanas, drink packages etc can all run close to the same cost. It's just what each individual is willing to spend/splurge on. For me, it was totally worth the price of admission. 

Does anyone know if the AARP re-verification is based on the expiration date of membership or is it truly annual no matter what? I'm asking because the membership I purchased is valid through 2028.

I agree. I have not had the good fortune of others that have great TAs that take care of things and gives great discounts/perks. It's always been a hassle of bad information and issues with increased costs, so I just take care of it myself. I don't get the discounts/perks but I also don't have the hassle of bad information or missed opportunities because they didn't research enough to let me know what was possible.

Wow, some of these are so amazing! My first cruise was spring 1995 on "The Big Red Boat" Premier Oceanic. Didn't quite make the cutoff, but we did have the Beach Boys onboard and they gave a concert on the pier in the Bahamas.  😁

Haven't sailed HAL since 2019, but if this means I don't have to write in and reattach disembarkation tags, I'm all for it! Last day packing, I always hated filling them in (and customs form) for the mob. 😁

When I booked, the country list didn't have United States. I finally figured it out when I deduced that Verenigde Staten might be it. Sure enough on the confirm page it showed United States selected. All other countries (that I noticed) were in English, but US was in Dutch. 🙄

Our HIA has 1 specialty dining and 1 shore excursion. When making a reservation do I have to pay at time of reservation, or money is not taken until time of event or pay at time of reservation is discounted by package? How exactly does this work? I like to pre-book everything if possible.

This is what I do also. You need to take them before feeling ill, so I start a day or two before the cruise and continue until the last night. If she tries again, make sure she starts them before the cruise. Also taking them at bedtime means if it does make me sleepy it doesn't matter because I'm going to bed anyway.

Is this new? I haven't cruised HAL since 2019, but if I'm remembering correctly we used to be given our key card on checkin pre-boarding.

Years ago I had a good one. Unfortunately the one that is now assigned to me is terrible. She's flat out lied to me, and ignores email questions. I wish I knew how to get reassigned to someone else.

We are sailing in 2025 on the Eurodam with a young lady that has never cruised before. Is HAL still doing towel animals? She mentioned that she was really hoping for towel animals because she thinks they are so cute. I haven't sailed HAL since 2019 and wasn't sure if they still do them.

That's crazy and just not acceptable!  No TA that I have ever used has had higher prices and non-refundable deposits!! They always give me at least a bit of OBC, wine, flowers, etc.  Are you in the USA?

 

My TA does the work and makes the calls to the cruise lines for me, that's what they get paid a commission for!

 

Good luck in finding a good TA and save yourselves a lot of stress!!

I am in the US. Thanks, I've pretty much given up trying to find one. I contact them, ask for an estimate, and it's never favorable. People say talk to others on your cruise and ask them, but I'm introverted and not comfortable going up to strangers and asking if they have a good TA. 

I had to call to get them to apply it even though it was verified months ago and displayed online while booking. I wish it would automatically apply so as not to waste so much time on the phone mostly on hold. 🙁 I also wish they would just reply to emails to answer questions or fix easy things. I emailed 3 different addresses over a week and not one responded. I had to call and waste 40 minutes, 30 of which was on hold. It's so frustrating and inefficient. 

I'd use a TA if I could find reliable one, but unfortunately I haven't been fortunate enough to find one that offers onboard credits or discounts or anything and their prices are higher and have non-refundable deposits.

Thanks this is very helpful! Would anyone by chance know the cost of upgrade to multiple devices if need it?

I see on our package it says Premium wifi for 1st and 2nd guests but there's no mention of the number of devices. Is each person restricted to a single device or can a person connect with multiple devices?
