  1. I think it's St. Catherine's that the OP is talking about. I was told by our tour guide that we'd have to have them for my husband's scooter. I haven't been able to find any for his scooter, BUT I found them for wheelchairs. Just google wheelchair tire slippers and you'll find them. Amazon has them as well as other places.

  2. We surprised my sister. She was doing a 4 day then a 5 day back to back. We surprised her in turn around day. I knew she'd be at the pool when we got on. So, we found a waiter and had a drink sent over to her. We sat on the edge of the pool and the waiter said the drink was from the gentlemen over there. It was great fun!

  3. Nicole,

Those answers were very helpful. Thanks!

I have seen pictures of a room, possibly a suite, in the Havana that had handrails in the bathroom, so we may be able to do one of those sometime. I plan on checking them out while on board in May.

We sailed on the Celebrity Silhouette in 2016 in a regular balcony room. I knew the time was coming down the road where we would need a room that does not have the step to the bathroom. So, I left a message for a couple of different handicap rooms asking them if we could come and see the room sometime before the end of the cruise as we were considering booking a handicap room on the next cruise. I figured I would be happy to show someone else my room sometime if someone asked, and hoped someone else would feel the same way. Luckily one of the two messages I left was returned and the people were so kind to let us come down and check out the room. We booked that very same room when we were ready to book our next TA.

Last year we booked a handicap mini suite on the Emerald Princess for our EB TA. We both felt like we were in a mansion in that room. The extra area for my husband's scooter is so nice. He can get around without any problems, but the part I like the best is the seat in the shower as he has balance issues and with a rocking boat, it just is so much safer.

    Thanks again for your answer.

  4. Nicole,

I stumbled upon your review yesterday and couldn't stop reading it. Thanks so much for a great review.

We will be on the Vista in May and I'm more excited now since reading your review. This will be our first Carnival cruise and I'm glad to be trying it out on the Vista.

If you have a chance, could you answer a couple of questions for me?

    1) In the Havana Cabana room, is there a step up into the bathroom or just a lip? As of late, we have been booking handicap rooms due to my husband's mobility issues. We are really interested in the Havana Cabana rooms, but if it's a step up, we won't be able to do it. I looked through the deck plans and there are no handicap or modified rooms in that area. My guess is you will tell me that it's a step up, but I have to ask. :)

    2) How do you get to the Skyride? Is it stairs? If so, how many? I know you said it was a short ride, but was it hard to peddle around the loop? Were you winded or exhausted when finished?

    3) Is there a charge for Guys Burgers? Cherry on Top? or the Blue Iguana? I may have read about these somewhere but things are running together so I just wanted to ask here instead of trying to go back to find it.

Thanks again for the great review.

  5. From the Princess website....

    London (Southampton/Dover), England

Take a few extra days to explore the world-famous Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Thames River. It might take a while to get used to the double-decker buses, but it's certainly worthwhile, as is a shopping spree at Harrods, theatre at the West End, a traditional afternoon tea or soaking up the local color at a nearby pub.

Below rates are per person based on double occupancy.

Do you happen to know if the pricing is per person or per room?

  6. My husband has RA and some other mobility issues. We bought a scooter called Luggie. We first rented one when my mom went to Hawaii with us. We really liked the small, portability of this scooter so knew that was the one we wanted when we were ready to purchase it. My husband has used it all over the cobblestone streets of Europe and Cozumel. The only place we have found that he couldn't use it was at the Forum in Rome. The rocks were too large with too big of spaces in between the rocks to make it work. Email me at kelizalde17 at gmail dot com if you would like to know where we got our Luggie from. This company rents it as well. It is a company that is not used with the cruise lines so you have to arrange for it yourself. The Luggie is so great because you don't have to have a handicap room for it to fit in your cabin. We now use a handicap room for other issues that he has, but for many cruises we were able to use a non handicap room and have his Luggie in there. Additionally, it is small enough that you can get around the carts that the porters have in the hallway every day. You don't have to turn around and go a different direction to get around the carts.

  7. I am a loyal Princess cruiser, but have cruised also on RCI and Celebrity. My cousin wants us to join her on the Vista next year, so I got on Carnival website to check it out. As a newcomer and not knowing the old, I agree this is HORRIBLE!! It is completely non user friendly.

Anyone know how to request a handicap room? Do I have to call? On other websites there is a box to check and the available ones come up. The deck plans are so small I can't read them.

I just gave up and eventually called my travel agent. I like to check things out first then call him to get add'l info that I may have missed.

  8. Another great thing is to just sit outside and people watch as well checking out all the cars outside of the casino. What we think of as expensive cars here in the states are not even allowed in front of the casino. It's pretty fun.

  9. Apparently, we are the lone people who check ours. We have two that we travel with and put in a suitcase that is made for scuba diving equipment. When it was just my husband's, we'd carry it onboard but it is such a hassle at security at the airport that we gave that up. Now we check it, for free as medical equipment. We also give it to the porters. Knock on wood, we've never had an issue.

  10. We had a handicap accessible cabin on the Emerald Princess for the April TA. It was fantastic. We felt like we were in a mansion. It definetly had enough room for two wheelchairs. My husband rides a scooter and it was so easy to get around that room. There is a ramp to the balcony (which is so spacious) that allows the scooter or wheelchair to go out without any problem. We did have an issue with it for a couple of days, but as soon as I reported the issue to the steward, maintenance was there and had it fixed right away.

I have pictures of the mini suite at home on my computer. If you would like to see them, send me an email at kelizalde17 at gmail dot com.

  11. When I decided I needed to move from my walker to a scooter I began my research and ended up buying a "Luggie Elite" for several reasons. It folds up like a roll on suitcase (hence Luggie), and when folded you can extend the handle and walk it behind you just like a roll on, it weighs just short of 60#, came with a lithium battery (great long range), has a weight capacity of 320#, has arm rests that are easy to attach/remove, and fits through most doors I have found, plus it has a forward and reverse power mode as well as a free-wheeling/power off mode. I can maneuver it in and out of lots of tight places

I have now used it for 8 months or so. I love it. It has given me back my mobility in the best way. I could recommend them to my friends who need a scooter. I am not employed nor do I have any connection to the company nor am I being paid anything for this. I just happen to like my Luggie a lot!

We bought the same scooter for my husband. It is a lifesaver and allows us to continue to travel the world!
