  1. Does anyone know the Hans ChristianAndersen fairy tales from the ice showon Oasis? I remember the ugly Duckling and Emperors new Clothes, but can’t remember the others. We are taking our grandkids in June and I want to get them the books ahead of time.

  2. We think Silverseas food has taken a significant slide. We have taken many Silverseas cruises and loved them. They no longer have a main dining room and have replaced it with 4 or 5 restaurants. They never changed the menus on a 14 day cruise and quality of the food was average at best. We took our kids and grandkids o a Royal Caribbean and the food on this mid priced ship was equal to or better tha Silversea. We never had a bad meal on Silversea, but only had one outstanding meal. We loved every meal on Oceania.

  3. Great cruise on Sirena. Haven’t been on Oceanea since before Covid.  Nice to see they are better than ever. The crew was terrific and the food was outstanding. We were recently on a Silversea. Cruise and were very disappointed. Oceanes Wins hands down.

  4. I agree that Silversea has gone downhill in food quality. We used to rate Silversea, Seabourne and Crystal as outstanding, with Oceania slightly below. We recently took  cruises on Silversea, Crystal and Oceania. For food, Crystal is number one, followed closely by Oceania and Silversea has dropped way down.  The staff is still great and the ships are lovely, but the food is mediocre at best.

  5. I am not saying the food is bad on so, only that it is not what we experienced on so before Covid.  We were traveling with first time cruisers. They had a good time, but like us, thought the food was good, not excellent. We also preferred it when so did not include shore excursions. We often like to do our own private excursions or just wander into town. In Bordeaux we went on one excellent so shore excursion, one private and one just wander into this beautiful city. So is still a great line for many, but the changes are not for us. We may join Fernando on the new Crystal.

  6. Just finished a 12 day cruise on the Dawn from Lisbon to Southampton. The ship is beautiful and the staff is lovely. We have sailed on Silversea for over 100 days and have found their food has definitely declined. Previously we found the cuisine to be outstanding, but on this cruise only one meal (at the Asian upcharge restaurant) was excellent. Most other dinners were mediocre at best. At Atlantide there were only 5 meat choices, 3 of which were steak! This menu never changed for the entire 12 days. One in our party is allergic to seafood, so this became problematic. Nowhere on the ship did any restaurant offer any chicken dish or veal scallopinni. S.A.L.T. Is a great concept, but we often struggled to find something on the menu that we wanted to order. Silversea, Seabourne, Crystal and Oceania all had great food, but I will now take Silversea off that list . We will try the new Crystal, Seabourne or Oceania. Obviously, many people like their new format of No main dining room, but it is not for us.

  7. I could not agree more.  We took a 15 day cruise and the menu in Atlantide never changed once, except for one appetizer.  There was never any poultry, pork or pasta offered.  Of the 5 meat choices, 3 were steak!  We have taken 8 previous Silversea cruises and loved them, but we cancelled our next one because of the lack of menu changes.  Also, Atlantide is the only restaurant where you can join a table.  One of the pleasures of Silversea in the past is making new friends.

  8. Eating with whomever you want has always been the policy of Silversea, Seabourn and Oceania. When you go to dinner, you can ask for a table for 2, 4, 6 or 8. At the beginning of cruises, when we were traveling alone, we often sled to join a table to meet new people. Other people felt differently and preferred to only eat with people they knew. The choice was up to you. Their old policy made everyone happy and “ If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

  9. Sorry for posting this issue of lack of menu changes 3 times. We always loved Silversea and wanted to make sure SS gets the message. We called Silversea and they said they will be making this policy on all their ships. Many of the people on our cruise agreed with us on this issue.

  10. Just returned from a 15 day cruise on SS Spirit from London to New York. Great cruise, but one big negative. We love to meet people by joining tables - only allowed at Atlantide and they never changed their. Entree menu in 15 days. I am not a fish lover, so their meat choices were 3 steaks, one lamb chop and one veal chop. No poultry, no pork, no pasta. The food is wonderful but the lack of variety is a major problem.

  11. Just returned from London to New York on the Spirit. Great cruise - one big negative. They have several restaurants and never change the menu. Only one restaurant can you share tables to meet new people. Ther meat choices are 3 steaks, one lamb chop and one veal chop. We always loved Silversea and Seabourn, but this policy makes us downgrade Silversea,

  12. We just returned from the London to New York cruise on the Silver Spirit. It was a great cruise and up to Siversea’s usual standards. There was one very big negative in our opinion. We have taken 6 previous Silversea cruises and always loved the opportunity to meet new, interesting people by joining tables for dinner. That was no longer allowed on any restaurant except Atlantide on the Spirit. In 15 days, they never changed the menu, except for a couple of starters. I am not a fish lover, so there were 5 meat choices, 3 of which were steak, one lamb chop and one veal chop. La Terraza and Indochine had lovely menus, but they also never changed and you could not share tables. Many people on board felt the same way we did. The food is wonderful, but the lack of variety has caused us to rethink our future bookings for Silversea.

  13. Yikes, we board on Feb 3rd. Now here's the dilemma, do I tell the 3 other couples we convinced to go on this cruise with us about the situation? Obviously, I will. However I will wait a couple more days to see if thing get better.....

We are presently on board and there are inconveniences, but they are doing the best they can. A team is being sent from Miami to Tahiti super lean everything on the ship before the next cruise. Don’t be surprised if you don’t board until later in the day you plan to.
