  1. We just returned, Aug 6, from an Alaskan cruise on the Millenium. We were not given a traveler or any kind of tracking device. While we are fully vaccinated ( since end of March) I have no idea how vaccinated were separated from non vaccinated folks, if at all. We only did one excursion and they did place family groups together in separate vans   Our van was adults only.

Everything is served by staff in the buffet.  Only water/coffee is self-serve.  So far the food and selection has been good.  There has been a dedicated indian food section yesterday lunch/dinner so will be interesting to see if that continues or if they rotate the cuisines.

We did Tuscan last night to take advantage of the first day 30% off special.  Food was excellent and restaurant was never more than about 30% full.

It stays Indian all week. If they have Panang Chicken try it. Awesome

  3. Final thoughts

    1. Special thanks to the entire Celebrity family for making us feel safe. A year ago, I never thought I would be on a cruise anytime in 2021.

    2. special thanks to all the crew members. They were all so upbeat and gracious and above all thrilled to do their jobs. They all were at the top of their game. Remember to tip a little extra. They have been sailing around just waiting for all of us to come on board. Thank you.

    3. If you can splurge, all of the spa services are amazing. Hair, nails, and massage treatments have been awesome ways to pass sea days.

    4. To anyone going on a Celebrity cruise soon, fill up with Evian/San Pellegrino in the dining areas. Above all remember, only drink the water in the solid silver cans. No plastic water bottles on the ship.

    5. In 2019 they stopped using straws. You can now get a straw for your beverages but they are paper/cardboard.

    6. Remember the staff are all following company policy. 99.9% of the time passengers followed instructions and were very pleasant about it.

7  Have fun. We were a little hesitant at first but if we had the opportunity to step foot on another cruise tomorrow, we would be there in a heartbeat. At least with what we saw on Celebrity.

    Happy Cruising!

  4. We did not hear about the Ketichan crash until this morning at breakfast. One of our fellow cruisers received a call from a friend asking if he was ok. This was especially sad since we shared a port in Juneau with the ship and her cruisers. There are simply no words to express our condolences to those they left behind. 💔

  5. The cruise ended with 2 sea days since we could not stop in Victoria. We saw one whale. Our last Alaska cruise was this same time in 2019. Many more whale and dolphin sightings. We were extremely fortunate to make it to Dawes Glacier. The first cruise did not. I hav attached pictures from the lovely portfolio they gave to us. 23A6A963-4E22-473B-AFA6-0F1800D3DF31.thumb.jpeg.2afc9278ae022d83d7593f6ae5ddff29.jpeg

Thank you so much for sharing so far. On the 8/27 sailing and have been eagerly awaiting updates so I can try to figure out what will be different/new protocols in place. I have a few questions if you wouldn’t mind!

    - are you having to make reservations for anything (shows/gym/etc)

    - how are the theater shows different (if at all)

    - have you been to the gym? Any changes there?

    thanks so much!

    Such beautiful weather!

We were very fortunate. The worst weather we had was returning to Seattle today. A few foggy nights on the ship but the fog horn sound blasting throughout the night  really made it feel like we were on a cruise.

thanks for letting us know about the train.  If it is shorter then I would hope prices would be less.

They were not. Guess they thought since the "in seat" time was the same (waiting for the engine to go to the end of the train--which now became the front of the train--- while we all were tasked with flipping our seats) the price was the same.

During this cruise no reservations were required. The gym equipment did have some signs to leave space (I believe it was every third treadmill) but it never looked crowded. Mostly due to the fact that we were probably at 50%capacity.

I cannot comment on shows as we were typically eating at that time so we did not get to any of them.

Thanks for posting this. Really enjoying the photos. On the 8/13 departure. Any COVID cases announced onboard this sailing yet?

I have not heard any. Honestly we have to open our door to hear the announcement so we are only listening intermittently.  Nothing in the daily’s or overheard in conversation.

  11. Skagway Train ride was pretty . However, for the rest of the season it only goes to mike 14 and not to the summit due to bridge repair. We took the best of Skagway tour but dropped off after the Skagway Brew Pub so we could get a bite to eat. Very good, fresh pub food. Salad lettuce is grow on site. Awesome.

Your pictures are beautiful!  We were there last week and I'm so ready to go back!

I had to laugh at the canned water comments, though I don't think I realized there were two 'flavors'.  Either way it was pretty nasty tasting!  I always asked for Evian or Pellegrino if they had it.  Thanks for the memory!  lol  Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Thank you! Silver cans are new.

We cruised out of St Maarten in June with the same crew.  We loved Ivan, Gilbert and Ayo.  When we left I felt like I knew them.  Such a good crew.  Give my best to them all.

Will do! Ayo (I-you) is so sweet and funny. They are all wonderful!

  14. Went shopping in Juneau before the dog sledding experience. As I said earlier, I don’t like shopping in the mass gift shops/jewelry stores surrounding the pier. I love finding shops that feature local artists.  Bought a pretty piece of jewelry made by a local artist at the Caribou Crossings shop. Located on the main drag, Franklin Street. The shop is colorful and has many locally made items at all price points.
