  1. This is fantastic, thank you! We don't mind using taxis/uber either to get to stations, or from station to sites.
  2. We are in the planning thoughts for our Japan cruise April 2025. We have an overnight in Osaka/ Kyoto. I've looked at the excursions, but I'm not really interested in touring shrines all day or large group tours. My adult son will be with me, he feels the same. We were thinking of taking the Shinkansen or express train to Nara to the deer park, back to Kyoto to see a famous shrine, and dinner on our own. Has anyone done something like this on their own?
  3. I like meatloaf and turkey, but I can make it at home. There just isn't anything elevated about these choices. Not what I expected with Celebrity.
  4. The menus are posted for my trip May 2025. Very sad. Whatever happened to lobster night? This is a 10 night cruise. No lobster, and menu items are clearly a means to cut costs. Tilapia, seriously? Meatloaf, turkey, pork loin, and the only beef I saw was basically sirloin, flank, and short ribs one night. There is a prime rib dinner, but conveniently on the overnight in Bermuda, when a lot of people included myself will probably eat off ship. Are they just trying to push people into specialty dining with blah menus? I've already reserved three specialty, and will be off ship three of the nights. Le petit chef is not my thing. Perhaps a sushi night, and maybe Lawn club? Is there any hope of good food and choices in the buffet?
  5. Thank you, I found it! I love to have dinner at a specialty restaurant the first night to unwind, but it's fun to see the offerings. My trip is a year out, so I'll watch for changes. Thanks for the info on jerk chicken.
  6. Where do you find the menus for each night in the main dining room? I have seen the sample menu, but not a nightly menu.
  7. We also have a starboard toward the aft. I looked at the sunset veranda, but I don't think we'd appreciate it much this trip. I'd rather be able to take in the view of more than the wake. I love it for a Caribbean cruise though.
  8. But should I spend a day in each city?
  9. I'm just in the planning stages of my trip. Our itinerary includes an overnight for Kyoto, docked in Osaka. I read it can be a ninety minute drive to Kyoto. Would it make sense to do the first day In Kyoto, and the next in Osaka?
  10. I just booked the 12 night cruise 4/9/2026. I love the itinerary. Doing a couple of days in Tokyo pre cruise, then 3 Disney days post cruise. It's my longest vacation ever, celebrating my retirement from 40+ years of nursing!
  11. Sorry, I realize I wrote that in a way that led to misunderstanding! I saw that the cost had decreased in a President sale email from Celebrity. I called them to arrange for the decrease.
  12. Today, I noticed a 100.00pp decrease in a cruise I booked in December for May 2025. I had booked it with Celebrity - they applied the 200.00 to my balance.
  13. I noticed a 100.00 pp decrease in my fare for May 2025. I've only put down the deposit at this point. If I call (booked thru Celebrity) will they take the 200.00 off my balance?
  14. I was able to make the additional reservation on the app this morning.
  15. Booking individual restaurants, no package.
  16. We are staying in a concierge cabin May 2025. Tonight I noticed that reservations were open for the specialty restaurants to reserve. I made a reservation for Murano and Tuscan, and I wanted to book a second Murano dinner, however, was unable to do so. Can you only book a restaurant one time prior to sailing? Unfortunately, the menu choices for Le petit chef do not appeal to me at all.
  17. Is there any benefit from Orlando choosing between JFK or La Guardia pre cruise? I'm thinking I'll fly home from Newark after disembarking.
  18. Wow, appears I need to do my research! I didn't even realize they were separate.
  19. This was fantastic information, just what I was looking for! Thank you! I knew Ellis Island would take a while, but I feel like I have to see it. We're not into art museums, and have visited other museums elsewhere, so not an issue. Also not worried about shopping.
  20. This is already helpful. I'm hoping for 500-700 a night for hotels, and one "fancy" dinner. Between Chicago and Orlando, we've had plenty of steak dinners. So maybe something more unique. I do want a bagel from New York to check out its reputation! Empire State, trade tower memorial, and Ellis island are tops on my list.
  21. We are planning a cruise on Silhouette in 2025, leaving out of Cape Liberty. We have never been to New York, so we'd like to arrive at least a couple of days early, and see a few things. We live in Orlando, I'm not even sure which airport to fly into in New York, and where to stay. I'm thinking Manhattan is where most tourists go? Considering a Broadway show. It's overwhelming! Also plan to take Uber or Lyft to the cruise port. Fortunately we have a long time to plan. And if there is a restaurant for dinner we should definitely make an effort for, please let me know! (Except for pizza, I'm originally from Chicago, I can't handle the thin crust.)
