Frank12, you've convinced me. After intense negotiations and deliberations, my wife & I have decided to celebrate our very first cruise with a Funship Special. Takes me back to our bar crawl days when we were doing NOLA French Quarter back when we were young. Thank you all for the suggestions!

The price is right. Good dividend also.
I'll say! Looking at the stock dividend history from nasdaq, CCL has been declaring a stock dividend, since 4/11/18 of $0.50/per share every quarter(if I'm looking at this correctly). Am I wrong in this? Or is this $0.50/per block of 100 shares?

Try drinking the scotch without water.
I do when it's freezing cold outside. But where I'm from we don't get many days like that, lol.

I normally drink beer. But I think I'll celebrate the Sail Away with something special. Maybe something more than my favored scotch & water. Maybe a tropical fruity drink, like a Hurricane. What's yours?

Too funny! 🤣

That's what I thought. Good info though, and a GREAT time to invest with CCA.

Thanks! I've been looking for that. Since the minimum buy in to receive the stockholder benefit is 100 shares, does buying 200 shares double that benefit? ie: if holding 100 shares get you $50 obc for a 5 day cruise, does holding 200 shares double the obc to $100?
-
That's what we are going to do. I just don't see any other alternative.

Thank you vol3820 & Shaded Lady for the kind words!

We are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary on the Dream out of Galveston departing on July 27th which happens to be the day we got married. And looking forward to our first cruise. It'd be nice to have a 'surprise' for us but I'm not counting on it. I am just thankful that we are celebrating our 50th with the cruise.

where did you get the 10% discounted Carnival gift cards?
Ahhhh, from the AARP website. Very common here. Many people pay for their entire cruise buying those cards! Try it. You'll like it!

Ahhhhh, I see. Phew. Had me concerned there for a minute. Thanks! 🥂

Waiddaminit. If I understand this right, an adult(over 21) can get a scotch & soda at the local bar 2 blocks from the port, an hour before boarding, that they cannot order a drink soon after boarding? 😡

7 on the Dream for 5 glorias days! Can't hardly wait!

I'm a ham radio operator and I don't see an issue at all. sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

My understanding is that current points will not carry over to the new program.
You are correct. I received an email from AARP this morning stating exactly that, with the roll out of their new program. Uggghhh. Gotta start all over again, lol.

I'm in a similar situation. At the point AARP announced the end of their current program, DW and I had about 350,000 points between us. We have already purchased enough Carnival gift cards to pay off all of the cruises we have booked, cover anticipated onboard expenses, and even cover one or two additional cruises. We still have over 200,000 points left, so we are maxing out on sweepstakes entries every day. The problem is that there are likely many others doing the same thing, and the chances of winning is nil.
I fear you might be right, Tom. With the popularity of the G.F.'s that AARP has( especially for cruisers) I can see a potential run on the Sweepstakes. I hope that's not the case though. I'm to new into this 'game' to be shut out on the front end!😲

The skeptical side of me thinks that it's easy to lose value in points when you give them away for a random drawing for a jackpot prize. It's not like you have much of a chance when 1000 points saves you actual $10 per $100 card.
Well I agree....sorta. As you know, you are awarded points for taking a free quiz. You accumulate points. You can only spend 200 points per day when playing in that sweepstakes. I started playing in mid June, accumulated enough points to buy 2 Carnival Gift Cards. $200 in face value for $180. Not a bad deal. Of course everyone knows that. Plus after purchasing the G.C.'s I STILL have 10,175 points to play with. So, I'm playing every day in the Sweepstakes plus playing the quiz's. Win win situation IMO. YMMV.

Ewwwww. IN the bloody mary? Sorry, my taste buds would implode. Now put a jalapeno in there, and it might taste better. JUST KIDDING! I've never heard of that before. (although I have been known to put a jalapeno in a bloody mary to spice it up a bit)
