The Hippocrates Health Institute is controversial for giving patients false hope about treating cancer with "natural" methods that are unproven and implausible despite claims otherwise[...]
Brian Clement and his institute have been directly criticized for promoting a number of ineffective treatments, including ones claimed to "reverse" cancerand multiple sclerosis. He is not a medical doctor. His treatments have been widely criticized as ineffective and possibly dangerous.

Absolutely. I get great service onboard when non tippers get ignored.

Funny how people make up those stories. I never get ignored and I don't tip for days.

I think i will . i may have a mild case. Iv had an off and on sore throat before i went to the beach.  I went to walmart thursday.  I felt tired yesterday.  Now today these symptoms.

Even though I believe it is just trolling.

That would be another prime example as why cruise lines should and will be careful. Because who would be the first ones going on a cruise as soon as they open? People who have been social distancing thoroughly, taking all precautions like wearing face mask regardless if enforced or not? Probably not. So you get the worst combination age and behavior wise. And with that and the build limitations of cruise ships result in a more than average risk of an outbreak on board.

  5. I am actually pretty sure on the mind of the executives, at least from the big cruise lines, are a lot of things. Postponing or cancelling new builds, reducing of fleet size, shuffling around dry dock modernisations, employee cuts, ...

But starting asap is not one of them. They are in quite a comfortable position at the moment and there is no need to take any ruinous risk so early in the reopening game.

The theme parks are open, restaurants are open, beaches are open, malls are open.  There is no case to be made to prevent cruising from opening.

    There are 3.

    1. other countries are involved

    2. cases get discovered while on the cruise ship. not like in your examples after they left the business.

    3. cruise lines can't just close the business and send guests and employees home.

95% of the people I see a muster drills are not ever paying attention. If a ship were to go down it would be a complete cluster puck because most people are clueless

There are just two things to understand. Where your muster station is and to do what you are told to do.

Actually even the first one isn't super important because in case they will tell you where to go. It is important for the crew and we guests are to help them train for the emergency, that is fair and time well spend.

But don't pretend it is something we need to pay attention to or we are in danger. Every human can do the tasks expected from us on two braincells.

  8. The big question is if when places will accept tourists again do they want to get back to 10k+ day tourists that run over the place for a few hours to get burned in the sun and buy cheap alcohol and food before going back to their all inclusive floating hotel and leave for dinner.

I hope it will change the tourism into more sustainable quality tourism. That doesn't rule out cruising per se but enhance the experience in all aspects. Would be a benefit for the islands as well.

Why would anyone post on a public forum, especially on one where you know the cruise line has a relationship with, and broadcast an administrative error...... reminds me of being in school and Billy would let the teacher know that the answers to the test were on the board!!

This is cruise critic. Everyone who has been here long enough knows not to take this or the regulars here seriously.

Seaman IF the cruiselines can upgrade their medical facilities to accommodate a breakout, they will be able to sail.

Probably  the "biggest" hurdle they must prove to CDC. Which includes ICU personal, ventilators, isolation rooms in that environment.

That requirement will not stay. It just doesn't make sense. Here are other people with more knowledge on that but where should the line be drawn in regards to rescue and medical assistance at sea. To be able to handl any outbreak that requires infrastructure not even every hospital on land has for (cruise) ships is just ridiculous.

There will be some kind of new guideline with fluffy text that will be face-saving for the CDC and CLIA.

  11. IMHO a bad idea for a couple of reasons. Hard to have a regular schedule on cruises with different port times, changes in environment, possible temperature and humidity, .... But most importantly it is difficult enough to get high quality nutritional value food on a cruise. Limiting the eating window in that environment makes it so prone to deficiencies. Especially as it is close to impossible to properly track the food. Unless it is a 21+ trip I wouldn't even bother sticking to any eating plan.

Apart from that I always cringe when people use IF for weight loss. That is such a slippery slope into disordered eating. IF is great but more a health tool than a weight loss tool.

"Age discrimination " comes to mind if you're suggesting banning a certain (older) age group. The lawyers would have a field day with that.

Saga cruises bans people under 50. Other cruises ban children and teenagers. There are a lot of restrictions based on age. Just in this case it would even be statistically justified.

But I am sure it won't happen because of boomers outcry

It will be a challenge, however I'd be willing to bet the cruise lines will have to show the CDC a PLAN concerning SD. As we know the best laid plans often go astray.

There will be limitations on occupancy in some venues, as BEST they can.

    According to CDC

Social distancing refers to methods for reducing

frequency and closeness of contact between people in order to decrease the risk of transmission of disease. Examples of social distancing include cancellation of public events such as concerts, sports events, or movies, closure of office buildings, schools, and other public places, and restriction of access to public places such as shopping malls or other places where people gather.

A cruise ship is a place where people gather in itself. If you want social distancing there is no cruising.

The key, not limited to cruising, will be to isolate risk groups https://www.theguardian.com/society/2020/may/05/longer-lockdown-for-over-70s-would-allow-fewer-restrictions-for-rest-of-uk-scientists-suggest

The data from Germany I saw today is that the average age of death related to covid-19 is 81. I think the solution is pretty clear what to do instead of having one way hallways.

There won't be a summer tourism season Italy...the tourism minister has stated that Italy's borders will remain closed to foreign tourists until the end of the year . https://nation.com.pk/26-Apr-2020/italy-to-remain-closed-for-tourism-until-end-of-year .

really, you read a pakistani newspaper to get information about italian tourism? there are up to date statements from Dario Franceschini denying the claim.

Reading all these "ready to cruise" threads on multiple boards (as  I hear the nightly 7pm cheering dedicated to health care workers)....if it makes the happy, let them dream.  There's no use in arguing with those who think they know all the facts.

The world is big so I never get this "but in my backyard x and y happens so you are all stupid[...]" and the latest news around Italy, Greece and others who already push hard for the summer season tourism to happen make me confident about my Q3/2020 prediction for cruises somewhere in the world. I can't imagine NCL as "Europes leading cruiseline" lol will leave that to Costa and MSC.

every cruise i've booked thru ncl.com has been $50/day or less solo.

Including tax and port fees? And even then probably the last years without free at sea promotion.

In the pre FDR time NCL had sales like fresh drinks, unlimited specialty restaurants, OBC, internet weeks before sailaway. No single supplement in all stateroom categories including haven and stuff like that.

Those broad sales months before the cruises started are indeed gone (not speaking of those "we raise the fare 35% and then give a 30% off sale for two weeks").

But of course there are always individual cruises that are a better per day deal than others. And that doesn't have to be last minute. Just now they have a 382GBP solo inside for 7 day on the spirit piraeus departure in October. A few weeks ago 478€ solo inside for 14 days New Zealand in December... But once again just single cruises not broad price dumping. And in these cirumstances only available for that price in specific markets.

  17. People get too serious about social distancing. The good part that probably will stick is the non-intrusion of personal space, which is annoying in times without a pandemic as well. Other than that it is intended to slow the spread and enable contact tracing not as a measure to stay and stop the virus completely.

I like the idea of green and red zones depending on the infection rate and allowing travel between green clusters. In a similar way if boarding is only allowed for guests coming from and through green areas and avoiding port stops at places with a high infection rate coupled with enhanced sanitary measures and higher awareness of crew and guests should be enough to reduce the risk on board to a responsible number. There will always be new infections so completely avoiding them can't be the goal.

I am looking forward to be back on board and especially the hysterical guests when someone passed by only 5 1/4 feet.
