  1. Loving this review, @abbydancer. What is Splendor?
  2. Hi All. Thanks for this helpful community. I'm fairly new to cruising, and am learning a lot from all of you. I took my first cruise on Celebrity with my daughter earlier this month (5-nt. Caribbean). My husband and I are booked on the Solstice to Alaska this summer. Now that I have joined "the club," I have questions about some of the Classic level benefits. (I'm making the assumption that the benefits will apply to our upcoming cruise, even though we booked it prior to the Caribbean cruise. Please correct me if I'm wrong.) 1. How long before my points will show up in my online profile? Or if I called, say to upgrade to the premium beverage package, would the rep be able to see that I should have the points and give me the 5% discount? 2. What is the Captain's Club Welcome Event? Worth stopping by? 3. Same question about the Reunion Cruise and President's Cruise events. 4. What are the Captain's Club offers when booking a future cruise onboard? 5. And finally, how does the category upgrade work? When making a new booking, do you choose Concierge Class but pay Veranda fare (for example)?
  3. We always do the first and last things you mentioned. Will start doing the second as well!
  4. Thanks for your review. I'll be on the Summit for the first time next month. Can't wait!
  5. Looking at the app for my first Celebrity cruise (Summit to Cozumel and Grand Cayman). Some fitness classes show a $20 fee. Is it safe to assume those that do not show a fee are free to attend? Do you need to sign up for these classes? (examples: Morning Stretch, Fit & Fun Dance)
  6. I agree. During my first Celebrity cruise (in 2 weeks!), I plan to work my way through the martini list. I'm sure I won't love all of them, but with the premium package, I will sip guilt-free. Add in some specialty coffees and several bottles of Evian water, and the package will be well worth the cost for me.
  7. Thanks for all the input. We ended up changing to a different week for the same ship and itinerary. Celebrity gave us $200 onboard credit, and, as someone mentioned, we're now paying the lower fare since the new week is less expensive.
  8. Didn't mean to scare you! We're looking at your Millenium northbound as a possible option. Need to check flight cost Vancouver vs. Seattle.
  9. We got a call from Celebrity today to say our Alaska cruise was cancelled. The rep said it's now a charter cruise. Does that mean some entity has reserved the entire ship? They're offering $200 OBC to switch to another week. But a quick search of the Aug. 11 date (same itinerary, same cabin type, same deck) shows pricing of $1,000 less than we paid for the two of us. We might cancel and book the following week, but our anniversary is during the original week, so we might choose another cruise instead so we can be traveling on our actual anniversary. Either way, we'll be celebrating our 30th somewhere awesome!
  10. This would be interesting. We'll be on the Solstice in 2023 for the first time. Will have to check it out.
  11. I've had the same Bose noise-canceling headphones for about 20 years. They're great, but bulky, so I only bring them when flying internationally. I love other people's suggestion of noise-canceling earbuds.
  12. Sorry to hear about your experience so far. Hoping it improves!
  13. Never cruised from Miami before. Cruise ends on a Saturday. What's a comfortable flight time out of MIA? I don't want to spend the entire day waiting, but also don't want to race to the airport in full panic mode about missing the flight. Those of you with experience, please chime in. Thanks!
  14. You all have convinced me...we are booking the Summit! Thanks for your helpful insights.
  15. Thanks very much for these insights! The Martini Bar does weigh heavily in my decision. 🙂 Plenty to consider, ship-wise. But either way, I will definitely enjoy the precious time with my daughter, as you said. I feel fortunate that, at age 22, she still wants to travel with mom.
  16. Planning a 5-night mother/daughter trip in February (adult daughter). Looking at Discovery Princess (RT Los Angeles) or Celebrity Summit (RT Miami). With flights added, total trip cost is approx. $3000 Princess [balcony, as no OV available] and $2,700 Celebrity [ocean view]. Goal is primarily relaxation--reading poolside with a drink in hand, swimming, enjoying the hot tubs, eating in MDR, taking in some shows, and hitting a disco/dance club once or twice. We've never sailed either cruise line. What things should we consider? Would you recommend one of these cruise lines/ships over the other?
  17. Point taken. I know it's a long shot, but I figured some of the experienced cruisers here might have some suggestions.
  18. 🤣 That made me laugh out loud! Attention everyone: apparently you should only pay premium cruise prices, or just stay home! Very helpful reply. Good grief.
  19. Looking for a last-minute cruise for after Christmas (specifically between Dec. 27 and Jan. 1, departing from any U.S. port). Are there any deals out there? What's the best way to find them?
  20. Very helpful, thank you. Looks like a fun experience!
