Currently 400 plus Bears on this cruise. Not possible to find usable seating/space at the aft pool/area during the day.

We have sailed several times when this group has been onboard. Once being on the Emerald with 800 plus.

Excuse my ignorance, but who are the "Bears"?

  2. MissP22:  were you on the 10 day Southern Caribbean and those were served on the 2 last sea days?  I will be on the Crown on the 28th, same itinerary (except Aruba instead of Curacao) - I wonder if they'll do the same....

  3. I was on the Regal a few years ago and they had the same seafood extravaganza at lunch buffet on one of the last sea days - lobster, giant prawns, oysters, etc.  They were quite secretive about it - I saw them setting up large icebeds and asked what it was for and they wouldn't tell me.  The cruise I was on was a repositioning cruise from NY to FL and I believe the Crown cruise mentioned above is a transatlantic.  My theory is that after a repo, they need to refresh their food supply (menu changes for new itinerary?) and had to get rid of whatever was still leftover in storage.  Anyone experience this on a non-repo cruise?

  4. We were on the Septermber 16-23 Western Caribbean on Armonia and the sea day prior to disembarkation, sailing north of Cuba towards Miami, we had a rough day.  The captain said it was due to the remnants of TS Jerry and that he will try to maneuver us to calmer waters but the rocking lasted all day and finally calmed down that evening.  I don't know if it would have been less rocky on a larger ship, but many did get sick.  Our cabin was on top deck in front and I definitely felt it more there so tried to spend the day away from it.  So just hope for good weather.

    • Are we talking about bottled water or tap water being free or not in the MDR?  I was on a Caribbean cruise and they automatically poured tap water from a pitcher unless you tell them no. I don't think they knew our nationality.....
    • BTW, they also had packets of hot chocolate, instant Nescafe and decaf in the Lido buffet;  hot and cold milk, liquid Coffemate dispensers (sweetened Original, Hazelnut, and French Vanilla)
  5. I don't know if all ships carry the same beverages, but on MSC Armonia, they have the typical beverages available for free:  brewed coffee (I personally did not like it), various tea bags for hot tea;  ice tea, lemonade, "flavored sweetened water" (tropical mango and strawberry kiwi) from a beverage dispenser and of course water were available 24 hours.  At breakfast, they add "orange juice" (sometimes OK, most of the time weak sweetened watery) to the dispenser;  whole milk, fat free milk and chocolate milk in 8oz cartons.  In the MDR, they had water, ice tea, hot tea, and coffee available at no charge.  I believe that was pretty much it for free.
