  1. Hello!

    We loved our experience!

it is very different than a regular cruise and although it is a small ship it also isn’t luxury. It’s a fairly casual and active experience. Drinks are reasonably priced. We couldn’t get enough of watching the sails, relaxing on the aft deck and interacting with passengers that had 15 countries represented. You need to be in fairly good shape or be pretty agile to enjoy most things. Getting off the ship even can be a bit interesting...into a tender then a zodiac then a wet landing in a few places! The crew was great although we found the cruise director a bit snarly. The captain was awesome and talked to us a few times. We had a fantastic dive master on our sailing too. There really isn’t much in the way of entertainment in the evenings but folks gather for drinks in the main bar area. We will be sailing again!

  2. We sailed on the Armonia from Venice. I imagine the move to Miami is recent? In which case you won’t see much of the info you are looking for quite yet. We had 2 young adults with us so don’t know anything about the kids clubs. There aren’t really “features” on this ship for kids so it’ll just depend on the staff and what your kids are looking for. I would suggest planning really great port days and leaving the sea days for relaxing and pool time.

  3. We are headed out of Bari on the Poesia in May. I’ve been on MSC one other time in Europe...in and out of Venice. Our embarkation and debarkation was a bit different though. We were literally the last people on the ship due to some issues and we were practically the first people off because we wanted to make a train to Verona (so we carried off our luggage). So what I don’t remember is how they handled people getting on and off at different ports. I have zero recollection of this even happening! But, I think all of their cruises are like this in Europe sooo. Anyone have feedback on this?

  4. Professionally run quizzes are not included after the first one. As soon as the first quiz has been won by somebody that passenger wins the prize of having to organise and present the next quiz and so on. So if you are good at quizzes make sure you have prepared a few questions and answers to compile at least one full quiz and sort out your microphone technique.

    Regards John

I’m super confused by this response. Quizzes??? Is this like trivia?

  5. Booked the last available jr suite on the Radiance last night (for Australia/NZ sailing). All regular balconies sold out. Afterwards, I see that it is a handicap cabin. Will RCI possibly downgrade it to an ocean view?? This was the cabin that the system automatically applied as it was the last one. I only figured it out by looking at deck plans after the fact.

  6. All draught beers are available on the package - hence my post. (Bottled Heineken is the only bottled beer covered on the basic package).

Hmmm, ok. I really hope so but had read contrary information. You had the Aurea experience with the basic drinks package? Thanks!

  7. On 2 other Musica class ships (Poesia is the same class) they had a number of different draughts available in specific bars. On Orchestra, they had Amstel, Murphy's Red, Newcastle Brown Ale as well as Heineken in the Wine & Beer bar. These were on tap in the Tiger Bar on Magnifica.

I’m sure they have other beers but just wondering what is available for the package.

  8. Hello

We have booked the MSC Poesia Aurea experience. I read an article where they said there was only one kind of beer with this drink package. Anyone know if that is true across all ships? Also, does MSC no longer allow a bottle of wine to be brought on?

  9. We are sailing on the Poesia in May...round trip Bari. A couple years ago we did the Armonia round trip Venice. We love MSC for the ports and the price! Also enjoy all the different nationalities on board. Question...we know that MSC embarks and disembarks people at more than one port per cruise. We didn’t happen to notice how this worked on the Armonia because we were last to board (literally) and pretty much first to disembark. So, do folks disembark at the same time as the rest are getting off for the port? What if it is your day to disembark but others are staying on....does that mean you can technically stay on longer??

  10. We leave next week for this trip. We will post our thoughts and observations when we return. This is a part of the world we have not visited as of yet and have been looking forward to Star Clippers returning to it for years now.

    Yeah! Thanks!

  11. Good evening Steph.

Thank you for your kind comments.

Regarding the comment from a delightful couple we met, and gave some advice to on what best to see in Singapore, I don't think they are the kind of folk who use these kind of sites.

My best advice is to keep watching this thread or start a new one with any specific question you may have.

Again, thanks for the kind comment.

    Thank you!

  12. Thank you for your wonderful detailed review. I'm booked on the May 19th 2018, 7 night Bali cruise. I've already booked our air but I'm considering cancelling the cruise and undertaking a land based adventure on our own. My main concern is the size of the boat and the motion. My husband and I love to cruise 1-2 times per year but I'm extremely prone to motion sickness and will take medication every night before we sail. How rough was the water in and around Bali? How would you rate the motion compared to the big ships and did you hear of anyone not feeling well? I appreciate any insight you can provide. thx

I hosted a Clipper event this weekend with a rep from Clipper and we talked about motion sickness. She taught us that because of the way the ship sits and how it sails...that you are going forward and not waving back and forth. And, you are hugging coasts, not open sea. Still, I plan to wear the patch per usual on big ships. Can't wait for the new experience!

  13. Every European cruise I've done I haven't arrived to board until about 3 or 4. It's not the same as the Caribbean for me....I want to spend time in the city I'm in before getting on the ship! When we boarded in Venice on one cruise we were actually dead last to get on! Oh and first off at the end...more cities to see!

  14. The Red Frog Rum Bar is on the Horizon. I wouldn't know the difference as I don't drink

So I'm just curious, since you don't drink do you not go to any of the venues on the ships for other reasons...like the music or trivia or dancing? The Red Frog Pub had a lot of great live music and I know people liked the trivia. That's just one example. Not judging about drinking just wondering what activities or venues you then go to.

  15. Thank you for your detailed review! I certainly wish the Star Clipper sales staff had this great of detail. A comment at the end of the blog from someone you sailed with indicated they continued on Singapore to Phuket. This is the itinerary I'm booked on December 2018. Do you know if they have a review anywhere?
