  1. Not doing drinks package as doubt we’d drink enough to break even.  However looking at maybe the 6 or 12 bottle wine package.

Do you book this onboard or before departure? Also do they charge per bottle with some discount then taken off or is it a set price for the package chosen ?  Sorry can’t find anything on Cunard website so hope someone can advise please. Thank you

We are on that same cruise. My wife's dream to see Santorini hope its not a disappointment. I don't see any excursions listed by Cunard for this port.

Yes I’ve always wanted to see it. Might have to go and stay there - or do another cruise with it on the itinerary.

  3. Thank you. Lots of food for thought. Always wanted to arrive in Santorini by sea so will achieve that. Would consider a boat trip round the caldera/volcano - if not think I will stay on the ship and enjoy the scenery - and visit Santorini for a few days on a hotel based trip and combine with Athens.

  4. On QV next year and Santorini is the tender port on 22 May.  Looking at the cruise port schedule there are a number of cruise ships that day, totalling 8000 passengers approx.

Any experiences of Santorini? Not keen on wandering round Fira if it’s going to be totally rammed - which seems likely from watching YouTube!  From past visits/experiences - what’s it like if thst busy re cable car etc ?  Does anyone know if Cunard have maybe organised a boat trip round the Caldera as would maybe do that ? Or could just stay on QV and enjoy the view of the Caldera from the ship…!

    Thank you

  5. There is a post on the book of visages that those with dogs are to be flown on a private jet. Others who cannot fly for health reasons staying on board and return on next TA. Obviously no idea how true this is as am not in contact with anyone onboard but the latter seems to be happening as per Insights post

  6. No doubt I will be shot down in flames, but would point out that despite regular scheduled maintenance the unexpected can still happen ! Only Cunard know the issue that caused QM2 to stay in port for repairs and as Victoria2 says, all is speculation until Cunard provide information.

Both Mary Pickford and Honeysuckle daiquiri are on the Commodore club cocktail menu. I've only had the Mary Pickford at Commodore club, but I have had honeysuckle daiquiri from the Chart Room.

Can't find a pic of the daiquiri, but here's Mary Pickford.

Seriously jealous - love Commodore and Mary P cocktails. Roll on November!

  8. Just wondering for those who have done South America by cruise if there is any preference for -

flying to Santiago and sailing back to Southampton

    or

sailing from Southampton and flying back from Rio de Janeiro

as QV has those two voyages as possibilities for me in 2025 but am undecided ! Have done Panama Canal so not essential so just wondering which might be the more interesting itinerary of the two. Have to say flying long haul is not something I enjoy but needs must.

    thank you

  9. Yes it’s a tough one. We are booked with Cunard for flights, no times etc as yet, so might ask about stopovers -  though in some ways I’d sooner get straight back home and wait for the jet lag to hit ! Thank you.

  10. We are booked for San Francisco to Sydney in February 2024. Am getting the eeby jeebies about the long flight back from Sydney to UK though - anyone had recent experience of what it’s like in economy for that length of time ? Depending on cost might be able to book premium economy but don’t think funds will stretch to business class unfortunately.

Alternatively we could transfer to another cruise  but if I don’t go across the Pacific in Feb 24 I doubt I will feel fit enough health wise-age wise much past then so am having a good think - balance obviously not due till early November so time to ruminate. Thank you.

  11. Yes I’m looking at the March Caribbean, Southampton round trip - as in UK. Would quite like the QV Southampton to Rio or the one from Chile via Panama back to Southampton- but I think will be too pricey - have done Panama Canal the other direction so would be interested to do the other way, but also it’s a long flight to get to Chile from UK which also puts me off. We shall see !
