No, Richard's Birthday Cruise is indeed cancelled. The first sailing of the ship will be August 7th.  Prior to that time it will be the previews / showcases.

Hmm...I read it as sailings until July 15 cancelled, with no mention of changes to the July 15 sailing...where have you seen that the Richard's brithday bash cruise is now a preview/showcase...thank you!

We’re due on Richard’s Birthday Bash 15th July... so has that cruise been canned?

No - that will be the first cruise. It says that they have postponed until July 15th. We are on that cruise too! You should have received an email, hubby & I both have in the last hour or so.

  3. We gave up on 'proper' suitcases after so many were damaged on transatlantic flights (we are from the UK but have lived in Canada/USA for 21 yrs so fly a lot back & forth) and now use rolling duffel bags. These will fit easily under the bed for storage. They are also lightweight so don't waste too much of your weight allowance!

Whilst they are only short cruises, do you think people will specifically travel to Florida just for the cruise? No doubt a four or five night cruise will form part of a longer trip. Not everyone lives within driving distance of Miami.

We will be flying to Miami from Kansas & California (where hubby works) for a one night stay the night before our 4 night cruise & then home on the day we get back to port. Hubby prefers short trips, and we use  a lot of vacation days visiting UK family so this short cruise is perfect for us - we are going on Richard's Birthday Bash.

  4. Everything I see & read makes me even more excited for our cruise!! Hubby works for Virgin Galactic, so we are part of 'the tribe', and are therefore probably a little biased towards the Virgin brand. We booked this cruise after a totally amazing stay in the Virgin Hotel in San Francisco - if the ship is anything like that experience then we are in for a fabulous 4 nights on Richard's Birthday Bash cruise!!

Thanks for sharing all this fab info folks!

  5. We are 46 & 52, and very excited to join Richard's birthday bash cruise in July!

We booked after an amazing stay at The Virgin Hotel in San Francisco - if you have seen any of their advertising/social media it looks like a place for the young and beautiful - and the cocktail bar even on the Sunday afternoon was filled with this demographic - and us!!. However, we had a brilliant time there, got upgraded to Richard's Flat (it was our anniversary & hubby works for Virgin Galactic so we are part of the 'Virgin Tribe'), and enjoyed the cocktail bar etc etc. The surroundings were amazing, and the staff ensured you had a great time without the stuffiness of other high end places.

We are going on this cruise with an open mind, we are not seasoned cruisers (one Carnival cruise 14 yrs ago and haven't been able to get hubby on a ship since!), but we are fairly well travelled. We are expecting to love some aspects and not others, and know that no one ship will be 'perfect'. However, we do know that Virgin does things their own way, and are excited to experience what should be a totally amazing trip.

I even bought a fabulous frock in Las Vegas this weekend ready for Red Night!!
