Since I'm usually giving them a future booking number, then yes, definitely before final payment. But I've also done it after final payment. I think they just want a booking number and when you are going doesn't matter, since it's just money being deducted from your cc balance.
Thanks Pia, and hi!

I did the same thing & recently got a $750 credit on our charge card balance. When I call to cash in my points they ask for a booking number to process my request.
This may be a stupid question but do you do this before final payment or can you do it after?
-
Great topic because I was just thinking about this today. I was going to use points as OBC but after seeing Pia's posts, I think I will use them to reduce our bill. DH agrees.

We don't go to the shows, trivia, theater, lectures, library, pool or spa, art auction, bars unless with friends. I also don't do laundry. DH will but I won't. :D I've never been to the sanctuary or done Chef's Table but might on a future cruise. We basically enjoy reading on our balcony, walking around the deck, meeting people, going to a specialty restaurant from time to time, going to bingo from time to time, exploring the boutiques, gazing at the wake.

We are scheduled to fly to Quebec from LAX with a layover in Toronto. I was looking at the Toronto airport website and notice that we have to gather our checked luggage, go through Immigration and Customs and re-check any bags we need to check again. It is my understanding that since we are in transit, that we won't have to pay for the checked baggage fee for the second flight. For those who have taken this flight, is my understanding correct?

We are planning to have a full day before we board our ship in late October 2014. We are staying at the Hilton and have never been to Quebec before and welcome suggestions on what we "must do and see".
-
That would be correct, about 2 miles. You can take one of the ferry services back if you wish which cuts the need of walking over the bridge or take transit.
As to restaurants, Bridges and the Dockside have always been a hit with us. Here is a link to Granville Is. restaurants:

Thanks. Dockside looks great.

Is Granville Island very far from Canada Place? We would like to walk there if it's doable. I mapped it out as far as directions are concerned and it said roughly 2 miles (which is not very far) but I wanted to check with those in the know. Also, any restaurants any of you can recommend on Granville Island?

I just noticed this thread and see that it is rather long. Please let me know if any of you need pictures of C750 on the Golden. I can even provide approximate dimensions (within an inch or two) of the width of both beams.

My prefere is as many sea days on cruise as possible. My DS cant stand sea days. She is currently on a 21 day with 3 sea days.
21 day cruise with only 3 sea days? Wow, I think I would need another vacation after that just to rest. I enjoy sea days but I also enjoy seeing different ports. I really like a sea day at the beginning of the cruise. Gives me a chance to chill from packing and traveling to the port, etc.

Sounds like a great cruise to me. Just tell me when we can book it. :D

Well, we tried to make it up the Grind but we made a rookie mistake. We were overdressed so we got overheated. We could have made it if we were dressed properly and plan to try again in the future. Capilano was nice and definitely touristy. The transit system in Vancouver kicks Los Angeles transit's hiney.
-
Thanks guys. Will show your responses to DH and go from there. I really want to do both if we can.
-
We are hoping to do the Grouse Grind and go to Capilano on Sunday but it looks like Vancouver is expecting rain. Is it advisable to do both, one of them or none of them?
-
I'm curious as to what the weather should be like in mid-September on Grouse Mountain and Capilano? Trying to figure out what clothes we will need to wear. Also, will our shoes get muddy or fairly yucky on the Grouse Grind?
-
Thanks Putterdude. It really helps to get advice from people who know this stuff. That's why I'm thankful for this forum. Capilano has always been our priority and we don't want to rush through it. After reading your comment, I now think we are trying to do too much in a short amount of time and won't be able to appreciate what we are seeing if you get my drift. We plan to return to Vancouver in a few years so maybe we will do the Grouse Grind during that visit so we can spend more time there.
-
Thank you. We were just talking about it and think we will go to Grouse Mountain first and then Capilano. We really want to do the Grouse Grind so we figure we will get the more strenuous activity out of the way first.
-
DH and I had planned to go to Capilano and spend a few hours there. We are going to take the free shuttle to and from Canada Place. After reading about Grouse Mountain in this thread, I'm wondering if we would have time to do both? We don't want to rush through Capilano but we don't want to go at a snails pace either. We would also like to be back to Canada Place by 4 p.m. With this information, would we be able to do Capilano and Grouse Mountain in one day or should we save Grouse Mountain for a future visit?
-
We took the Trolley by accident (long story) and while not cheap, it was worth it. It's like getting a guided tour and you can hop off and get back on without paying extra as long as you have your ticket and it's the same day.

I wanted to try Cardero's but we weren't sure after reading some reviews on Yelp. We were going to go back to White Tower Pizza but, after seeing recommendations on this thread, I think we will now try Cardero's. I'm always open to trying new restaurants. Do I understand correctly that we could get a table outside or near a window and watch the cruise ships leave?

We are planning to go to Capilano in September. We will leave directly from the Pan Pacific (where we are staying). What is the best time to go to Capilano? One of my co-workers reminded me that Capilano is a rainforest and she suggested going around noon because it can often be foggy in Capilano. She also said we could expect to be there about 4 hours. DH and I are planning to leave around 9:30 or 10. I'm open to suggestions.

Which webcam did you get this picture from? It's fabulous.

Adrian Zmed? I haven't heard that name in a long time. Cassandra and I have been following you via webcam and live posts (our husbands get the reports) and are enjoying your cruise so far. Vancouver is very nice, especially with the Olympics coming up soon. Enjoy your few hours there.

Oh my gosh, Pia, the bridge cam view this morning of College Fjord is simply amazing!! That's one of the best bridge cam views I've seen in a long time. Oh, the pictures you must be getting.

I'm sorry this happened to the OP.
I have seen on more than one cruise that a steward will leave more than one stateroom door open when cleaning, so it is easy to slip in and out undetected by the steward. We always leave our valuables in the safe.
