Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Hi to all I just wondered if any Marella customers have been contacted since the cancellation of the Asian Cruises on Discovery 2. Whilst I understand the decision making process I am naturally disappointed. My email said somebody would contact me in a couple of days but not heard anything yet. I must admit that I am also a tad angry that to do a same length of cruise like for like in another area (Caribbean) is £2500.00 more for my family so £200.00 each off the next cruise is certainly no incentive to use them. Obviously I shall take the refund now but has anybody had any other news. Where is the Discovery 2 going to be relocating to as well. Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks so much for that feedback. I will. Looking forward to it now.
  3. Wow The condescending comments from people like you get to me too. Your “everybody is entitled to their own opinion” but actually they are not because I’m here to tell you you are wrong attitude is irritating to say the least. Put your dictionary away and start your own thread if you want to bore us people that Were very passionate about this brand. “go find something that better suits YOU”. How patronising are you! If you had a favourite food and they changed the ingredients would you not be disappointed? It tasted cheaper but still cost as much! May I also add FYI that cruisers in Europe pay significantly higher fares for their cruises than those in the North American market and that is not even including the additional costs of paying $2000.00+ to fly 10 hours plus to cross the Atlantic in both directions. So in all politeness set up your own NCL is wonderful for the masses thread so you can all compare dictionaries, quotes, and how else you can string a pile of nonsense together in your search for superiority! You must of been on my recent cruises with me, maybe you were under my bed as you seem to know more about my experience onboard than I do! But we are all entitled to our opinion………unless you disagree! ”That NCL is at the hospice care of their existence! Lol!” That arrogant comment says more about you than it does me oh superior one! That’s the difference between people like you and me. I find a cruise line and product I like. I tell everybody how great they are and spend thousands more because I know what I will experience and receive onboard.(and yes as you seem to know everything you will know how expensive such cruises are from other side of the pond). But all of a sudden, the food is worse, the entertainment has gone down hill, the choices in buffet are poor, the service has deteriorated….and I dared to make a thread to share my thoughts. To all of you that disagree that’s fine. But don’t belittle my opinion like you are more entitled to a voice than me. Set up your own thread and let us loyal and genuine NCL cruisers share our disappointment in the hope they will take things onboard.
  4. A beautiful way of describing how I feel. 🙏
  5. Well said. I think you summed up a lot peoples thoughts there. Your still going to get the argumentative people on here who make no sense whatsoever. They would say left is right and up is down. Debts are not the customers problem. Would you work for free if your boss was in debt until they balanced the books etc.Would you pay the same for cable tv if they said they were taking 90% of the channels away. I shall prepare myself for the next boreathon from the superior brigade.😴
  6. Original poster update. Well hello to all. As the original poster on this subject I think it is fare to say that this has been a very passionate debate for many. It shows how much a lot of loyal Norwegians are feeling let down. I was never interested in the why’s, wherefore and documentary’s about debts, covid, etc etc. Having spoken to many other cruisers it is evident that MANY NCL CRUISERS ARE FEELING THE EFFECTS OF THE CUTBACKS and are moving on. Whilst bookings are great now I can assure NCL they will drop in future as they can not sustain this level of disappointment. I know in Europe there is a lot of disappointment from people whom have always enjoyed the NCL product but are leaving the ships disappointed. Maybe a reason for repositioning ships away from Med waters and Europe etc, and taking them back to the Caribbean etc. It is not about my personal opinion anymore, there is a fundamental change on NCL that is making them less desirable than they were. Maybe the Haven will supply the profits for them like First class on an aircraft but for sure it will be a very segregated ship. They seem on a par with MSC now so despite all my invitations and emails to management to address concerns there seems to be a blackout taking place. Maybe there debts are much worse than they report, which is fraud in itself for investors. Please don’t bore us all with economic justifications blah blah. THIS IS ABOUT HOW NCL ARE NOT AS GOOD AS THEY WERE BUT CHARGE MORE. Regards
  7. Thanks for all your info. Appreciate it.
  8. Hi there As a new cruiser to Marella I was wondering if anybody could answer a couple of questions. As it’s all inclusive can you order more than one drink from the bar? Sometimes on a hot day I can easily knock back a couple of pints! Can I order two or have I got to get in line again? I often like to take a couple of drinks back to the room and sit on the balcony, is this allowed? Are there fridge’s in the cabins on discovery 2? Finally what costs are involved with the speciality dining? I love a steak and a hot curry! I’m looking at an Asia cruise in 2025. Any tips, menus and advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Hi Elvis Im assuming it’s me your talking about as I did originally post my comments. Very sorry but I’ve been working some long hours recently. Out of interest what would you like me to respond with? I’ve said my thoughts and that’s that. I don’t want to date any of you! It’s great you can afford the Haven, I can’t so I go with what I can afford and after many cruises I’ve noticed a big drop in quality. That’s my opinion, somebody else commented on how bad things have been for the crew etc after pandemic etc. I’m one of those that suffered as I work for an airline and trust me we suffered as much as anybody! What money I can save goes on taking my parents away once a year on a cruise on NCL to thank them for all they did for me. When we all see a decline in service and standards and food quality we are entitled to say this. The prices of NCL cruises does not reflect the drop in quality which is on par with MSC now imo. There’s a saying in the Uk that ‘you get what you pay for?” You certainly don’t with NCL anymore. We can all disagree all day but I’m just stating my experience over the years. Most NCL loyalists I do believe overall agree with me but obviously it’s all about opinions and experiences. I must look at time off from work to enable myself time to respond!
  10. Well you are obviously used to eating low quality food compared to me. Whilst food can be a very subjective issue it is not correct for you to tell me what I should or should not consider to be poor. IN MY OPINION it is POOR. You too can have YOUR opinion but do not LECTURE me on what is and is not poor quality food.
  11. Hi to all I’m interested in everybody’s feedback regarding NCL product these days. As a very loyal cruiser to NCL I have decided not to book with them again! Since Del Rio left there has been a MASSIVE drop in quality from food to service to entertainment.( This could also just be coincidence or result of covid debts). Is it us or are other loyalists of the same opinion? Even senior management (Katty Byrd) can not be bothered to respond to questions. The food quality has plummeted in all venues INCLUDING SPECIALITY. The Shrimp in Cagneys was cheap and crunchy. The buffet is repeated and boring to say the least, The entertainment poor. Guest services rude and miserable, Bar staff understaffed( along with many other departments) and overworked. I could go on and on but more than anything I’m so sad that this once excellent cruise line has become so poor. So are we alone in this thought or are other loyalists feeling the same? To senior management I challenge you to join me on a cruise of MY CHOICE undercover to see what your decisions have done. Enjoy the boom now but when things calm down you will suffer as people go elsewhere. I would also like to invite management to discuss their love of the environment. Selling a cruise and then changing the itinerary to save fuel is NOT done for the environment. It’s to SAVE MONEY. So sell the cruise with less stops initially so environmental lovers can book and feel so good about it! Anyway, what’s all your thoughts and maybe someone will listen before the damage is not reversible. Regards
