Most hotels officially won’t give status benefits when a reservation is made through a third party. But I have heard of it happening. I’d definitely add my status program ID to the reservation. But definitely would expect nothing.

My completely fact-free wild guess would be it has something to do with port access fees or procedures, or availability of tours from their excursion providers. If not that, maybe sunspots? 🙂
