Looking for a pre-cruise FLL hotel that offers something to do other than actually just sit IN the hotel. Nearby eats, maybe a place to get a drink, that kind of thing. Thanks in advance!

So I am considering making a reservation for the Steakhouse on the first night of my upcoming cruise. I know that a bottle of wine is complimentary on the first night...the question is this: if I have a party of eight, will will be provided more than ONE bottle?
Thanks in advance!

I arranged a private tour through Viator with Cristina Ruien for a group of 15 on our sailing. Viator offers several different tours but I worked with Christina to arrange a tour that took in both a short tour of Constanta, the ancient Greek ruins of Histria, and wine tasting and lunch at Murfatlar Vineyards. It was a fabulous trip and I highly recommend it and Christina to anyone looking for something to do other than (a) spend hours on the bus headed to Bucharest or (b) hang out all day in Constanta.

We were supposed to arrive in Athens on Friday August 21st. However due to Mr. Murphy and his famous law it looks like we will not be arriving until Saturday August 22nd. We have a a food tour scheduled for that day and then we will be embarking on our ship later that afternoon. My question is this: since we won't have our hotel to store our luggage in is there anywhere near the Plaka that we can store luggage for the day? Thanks in advance!

I put my pills in one of those small dispensers with the days of the week marked that you can get in any drugstore. I never take the original bottles. I take this with me in my carryon in case my luggage is lost/delayed. I have been doing this for 20 years and have traveled all over the world and have never been stopped or questioned.
Of course this doesn't mean it can't happen. Maybe I've just been lucky.
My husband and I do the same and have had no problems.

Someone suggested we look into whether I'll need an "AAA International Drivers License" to rent the car we plan to use to get around on a visit later this year.
I used to get them years ago but believe I remember I was never asked for it. As long as I have a valid one State issued (USA) I should be ok, right?
We also rented a car in May 2014 with nothing other than valid state-issued drivers licenses.

I wonder if you have any input on the wine packages that are offered once we board? It may just make more sense for us to go that route with a coffee card.
Sorry, I don't have any info on that.
-
With tax?
There is no tax....only gratuity. And that is not added in as a factor when you purchase the package.
-
Point of clarification please! I see many folks posting that drinks "less than" $10 is included in the alcohol package. However, the Princess advertisement posted in this string states "up to $10". Does this mean a glass of wine listed at $10 is included? I really hope it is as the Vines menu has some very good wine at the $10 price point.
Thanks!
Yes.....wines costing $10 are included.
Not sure why my posts on this topic are seemingly being ignored. As I mentioned a few posts ago I just sailed last month so I know what I'm talking about.

I think I know the answer but I am looking for a confirmation. If I am on a 14 day b2b ( 7 day and 7 day) i could purchase the AIBP for one of the 7 days and not the other 7. Correct??
That's correct - each portion of your trip is considered independent of the other part.
So I assume if you drink a glass of wine @ 7.95. Add your tax and gratuity. That cost would jump to around 10, correct? The cost of your glass of wine is based on the pre tax/gratuity. If you find a $10.00 glass of wine you'd like to get it still is an option...you don't have to add in the cost of tax/gratuity.

I really do hope that the whole room doesn't have to buy it, I had heard that you would all have to!:D
The whole room doesn't have to buy it. We sailed on Ruby Princess June 4th.. hubby bought it; I didn't - no problem.

My cell phone goes into the safe when I board...I'm not paying the international rates to stay connected. I actually look forward to reading the Fun Times every evening and planning my day. I like to bring a highlighter and highlight the things I want to do (especially on a sea day when there are lots of choices)...can't do that on a television or app.
-
As recent as May on the Star: both people did NOT have to buy the pkg. My husband bought it, I did not. It still may depend in the ship however.
Cruised in June on the Ruby - husband bought it; I didn't. For us, it was definitely worth it as he loves his lattes in the morning so we didn't have to buy the coffee card. Also, even though we only had two days at sea, he drank his money's worth plus with the package.:o
-
OP, we'll be arriving on the Ruby. Can you tell me the benefit of using the shuttle over the train?....is it the location where you are dropped off?

We're supposed to be flying out of DC on the 30th and into Iceland on the 31st...with the way things are going with IcelandAir right now all my plans are on hold and I don't even know if we'll get there or not or if I need to be looking at Plan B as Plan A has us flying out on June 2 for London to catch a cruise on the 4th. Hopefully all this can be sorted out soon otherwise it looks like we'll completely miss Iceland and fly directly to England.:(

Thanks OP!

My husband and I are doing the BI cruise on Ruby in June and we've got many private excursions planned through our very active Roll Call.
If you haven't already, I would definitely take a look at the one for the cruise you are considering and see all the private excursions they have planned (I am sure there are many) and see if they still have room for you and your husband. You can check with the private operators about whether they have air conditioning on their vehicles.

Thanks for the great directions! My only question is that I didn't see an Edinburgh Waverly....only an Edinburgh (EDB) and Edinburgh Park (EDP)...am I doing something wrong?
-
Maybe I misunderstand the question, but I booked my cruise in October (May 17th sailing) and got my cabin assignment while my TA was on the phone with Princess.
In fact, I got to choose my cabin.
BigWI, many cruisers choose to book a "guarantee" stateroom which guarantees them a category (interior, oceanview, balcony, etc.) but not a specific room. Doing this can get the cruiser a cheaper rate and sometimes (but not usually) an upgrade into a higher category. For those that aren't concerned about specific location, it can be a great deal.
-
We have booked guarantees on our last three cruises with Princess. We generally get notified of our room assignment about 30 days prior to sailing. However, for our upcoming sailing we received our room assignment (an upgrade from an obstructed OV to a balcony) over 45 days out.

I'm thinking lanyards will work for us and the kids. Do they come with the little plastic holder into which you just slip your card? Or does the cruise line punch a hole in your card so you can attach it, key ring style?
Thanks!
I have a lanyard that I use every cruise and I just go to the Casino and have them punch a hole in my sign and sail card....then slide it on the lanyard.
I'm not a cruise newbie, but I like knowing where my cruise card is and as a woman I'm not always walking around in an outfit that has pockets. Depending on the outfit, however, I'll tuck the lanyard inside my shirt. When I go ashore I'll stick the lanyard inside whatever bag I'm carrying that day as I won't be needing it until it's time to go back aboard.

For those that shipped their purchases home from the Woolen Mills - do you remember how much you paid to ship?

A bit off-topic but as some mentioned the stamps I like to place those in my journal at the beginning of each cruise adventure. As for the pins, I never received a Ruby pin either.
Atlantis Tickets.... has anyone bought the tickets directly through Atlantis looks li

The difference is that, although the savings appear negligible, you get to go there when you want and leave when you want. With the NCL tour, you are only at Atlantis for about 5 hours, if that, by the time you add in commute time.
