Zero chance I'd get off the ship for Haiti now, and it's not about living in fear, it's simple risk/reward. I can have a below average beach day in a port that's honestly a sub-tier version of Coco-Cay, with the downside of finding myself cut of from the ship if gangs storm the gate and try to take hostages.

Likely to happen? No. Then again, I bet if I took bets that gangs would overrun a prison everyone would have said that's insane, why would they even try?

    Yet here we are.

Pretty sure Royal doesn't let Pax just wander outside of the Cruise area without going on an approved excursion.

I think the point is no-one is saying not to go, but to be aware.  I cannot think of a place we decided not to travel to because of heightened security other than one (the Holy Land),  But all should def understand and take reasonable precautions when traveling to some of these areas.

I guess that was my point I just made it poorly, Is you should use caution whenever you travel rather you traveling within the US or on a cruise, or overseas. Bad things can happen anywhere.

My husband doesn’t drink alcohol, but I do. Can I purchase the “alcohol” drink package and purchase him some other option? It’s really unfortunate when you have to purchase two alcohol packages because you’re in the same cabin but don’t necessarily drink the same way.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks so much!

Nope, Cheers includes everything which is why you must purchase it for everyone in the cabin that is of age.

Granted they are 2 different countries, but they share the same small island.  It's not a stretch to imagine that some of these inmates may make their way over to the Dominican Republic.  It will probably be okay in the immediate port area, but I don't know if I would venture too far from there.

  5. Well, unfortunately, this will not be happening. My girlfriend had a miscarriage today and thankfully my girlfriend is okay but we are still sitting in the hospital currently. Carnival has been really wonderful and understanding and let me transfer this booking because of the circumstances. Apologies to those looking forward to my live. But life happened and the universe decided to take something away from us instead.

  6. Welp, it is that time, Time for another WahleTail NYE cruise. This time will be ringing in 2024 onboard the Vista. This will actually be my first time onboard a Vista Class. Also, My better half is actually joining me this time. Lucky her I splurged and got us an OS. Pretty sure this will be her first Carnival cruise, I am introducing a blue card :), Lucky her she can board with the important folks in Plats and Diamonds. 😄

We've done both LGA and JFK. LGA is closer, but with the Manhattan traffic, we felt like there was no clear winner between the two. We were stuck in horrible traffic coming from both airports.

I fly in and out of NYC area airports very frequently for work, They are notorious for cascading, hours long delays and cancelations, even early in the morning. The airspace is too congested and the infrastructure simply can't keep up with the demand, even with the recent renovations. Please consider flying in at least one day prior to your cruise.

I have thought about flying in a day early. Just haven't decided yet. The last time I was in NYC was in high school on a school trip in which we visited the UN building and such.
