First cruise was out of LA on a Royal Caribbean Serenade of the Seas. We went with folks I played hockey with, some were complete scrubs, some had 150+ games in the NHL. It was a drink feast at Papa and Beers…and we did do the walk of shame as a pier runner. My wife made me go to the MDR for dinner, there were only 5 of us out of 14. 😂. I am much more refined today….

My understanding is it’s more important to have opened insulin hidden from light and at temperatures below 86 degrees but not freezing ( per FDA website for medical storage). You can do this for 28 days. Type 2 for about 11 years…cursed disease. Went into military at 19, unaware my Dad and his Dad were diabetics at around 35 years old.

Elite on Princess trying HAL because of destination (ABC islands in February). Not a lot of expectations, will definitely miss Medallion, been years since we signed receipts. Don’t usually go to shows, looking forward to boring World Stage talks (👍), love day time group games. Group of 10. Keeping an open mind.

Never been on HAL, primarily with Princess awaiting a February cruise. Understand the group issue. Our last cruise had 600 polka fans. I would like to say you didn’t notice them but entire venues were closed. We wrote Princess to suggest they at least put things in the daily planner so you don’t plan something and find out it’s closed. Heck, the rear of the ship was cleared for them one evening. They are in the business of making money, curtesy to all customers is what we asked.
Now, for your knitting knowledge. I love showing off my knitting and crocheting skills! I spent 27 years carrying a gun, played college sports and international sports in 20 years of my military service. As a child, I spent 2 years sick in bed. My grandmother watched over me and taught me knitting and crocheting. Never made a sweater but some killer mittens, hats and pot holders! Kudos to old ladies who taught me!

Never been compensated for missed port, usually weather related. Don’t feel there is any difference. I remember a particularly windy day where Royal Caribbean sailed away after three tries then we did the same after three tries on Princess. Interesting topic though….

On Sky; new app is ok. It doesn’t have Shipmate messaging like the old app. If your in a group, was always handy. We are still using old app for that.

Google picture search shows a few similar devices. Heat detectors…which would make sense over balconies.

Ok, that’s it, bringing a screwdriver with me next week! 😂

No electrician but that line going in there ain’t no 12v! That’s carrying some juice…plug looks stout as well. Could very well be a emergency lighting system.

Looking forward to your updates! I’m an old fart at 60, haven’t read a paper book in years but just downloaded The Adams -Jefferson Letters digital version for our cruise in January! Exciting! 😂. I can’t read non-fiction, no idea why. Congrats on the course, I used to tell myself “I only have to do it once…”, got me through several years.

Forgot, you can get a sharps container also!

Never had a problem, an unfortunate long time diabetic…. I would still just keep it in fridge.

Believe it does, we are premier folks also. Only time I seen an extra charge was when I go over the value amount of a drink. I’ve never hit the daily limit! 🙄

Well looks like it just wasn't seasickness that kept me in bed the last afternoon and night of the cruise as I'm now really sick with bronchitis. I had a hard time even walking off the ship on Saturday and am floored at how quickly this all came about. I felt fine Friday morning. Doctor has me on a z pack, steroids, inhaler and prescription cough meds. Hoping I recover quickly.
Even with the bad weather and ending up sick, I really did enjoy my time on the Sky, met a lot of great people and really enjoyed the crew. It's just a bumpy ride back into reality!
Hope you get better soon! Enjoyed your posts…

We are traveling with friends that are in a full suite that gets reserve class. We are not. What happens if they want us to dine with them?
Depending on availability, they may be able to get you in. Just talk to them the first day. We have done it on several cruises. What better way to introduce folks to club class/reserve? Love making friends there!

One plus I have not seen listed:
A nice quite spot on deck, in the shade, on a sea day, with a good book.
Like a brainiac who loves technology, was using medallion app to find my wife, who likes a quite spot, in the shade, reading a book. I was going nuts, walking up and down two levels and never seeing her but I was right “on the spot”. Then on my last lap before I decided to give up, I heard her giggle. She had pulled up a lounge chair under the stairs…nice and quiet, in the shade reading her book. Seen me every time I walked past…never said a thing but the last time I heard that cackle! I bet half the ship walked by her…

Also like the Discovery at Sea connection but seems hit or miss sometimes. Would prefer some more nature, science or history talks! What I love about Alaska cruises but the Caribbean has such a diverse history from pirates, whales and sharks surprised it’s not there. Seem to be pointing in a different direction now….

My favorite thing is the nostalgic feeling that Princess has as the original "Love Boat" sails out of port blasting the Love boat theme. Maybe because of the television show, being onboard a princess ship feels like you are on a vintage cruise from the good old days.
We head out on Jan 13th with two fresh new to cruising relatives. I will get a picture of them when the horn blows! 😂

For us, the Piazza. We jumped from Princess to another line and slowly we noticed we missed something. The grandeur of the Piazza and the surrounding venues. The crew is always great, make friends every time we go.

I have loved cruising for years. I have a membership at a camping resort in Virginia Beach and keep our Expedition motorhome there all summer. I love being able to just kick back on the water and fishing with family and friends five-minute drive to the oceanfront. I try to cruise once or twice a year and think it would be so much fun to camp at Port Canaveral and then park in the lot and hop on the ship. Camping...Fishlips...then cruising...what more can you ask for.
That would be nice!

I’ve had norovirus 3 times on cruises. If you can’t hold anything in, you have it! Bring medicine (Imodium) with you and stay in your room for 24 hours. If you go to ship doctor, they will quarantine you 24 hours from the time you visit them. I swear, you feel better exactly at the 24 hour mark! We did a pub crawl and right after I got sick, locked myself in the bathroom. My none drinking wife swore it was from drinking at the pub crawl. I had one beer at the 5 bars we went too, no way but she doesn’t drink, she doesn’t understand 5 beers over 3 hours is not going to do that. A few days later we got home from the cruise, I heard her at 3am, locked in our bathroom at the house. Like a good husband, I rubbed her shoulders and said “must have been something you drank…”. 😈

New to HAL, ABC cruise in February. I enjoy the videos. We have cruised primarily on Princess and the videos allow us to plan our trips and gauge what we can expect. Thanks for your videos…mean a lot!
