  1. Yes got it. There is something that say this is not refundable

Too confusing because initially when given a choice it says both are refundable. In any case now when I go into the website there is nothing at all on decks 9 10  or 11 not even they will pick. Only rooms on 8 ND 5 The boat is mostly booked.   My H is a light s

sleeper and so thst will be an issue.  Just wonder if a TA might have rooms available there. 🤔   Thank you for all the info.

  2. On the Island princess when I go to book it asks let princess pick or pick your own. When I select pick your own then I pick category interior area mid aft and the go to the decks the drop downs on the decks side have rooms available to pick and some just say we will pick for you later and guaranteed a room in this area. So you are saying that is not the case?

  3. Then what is the point of paying extra to pick your own room and selecting a " zone" as the PA called it.  They said I would be assigned in zone I selected.  If I said let princess pick initially for the lesser price then I coukd see being placed wherever.

Also website says princess picks is fully refundable

  4. Ok it's so confusing

If I selected pick your own room and then select interior cabin mid aft deck 10..it then says no rooms available here at this time  but princess will assign a room in this area before the cruise.   That is different from initially saying let princess pick. Then as I understand it they will put you anywhere. Also the price is higher if you pick your own.  So I was hoping by doing that I would get the decks I want. That's 9 10 or 11

I have no idea what letter category that is. It does not say.

Also I have not booked yet. Is it better to book woth a TA or through a Princess  Cruise planner. One keeps bugging me. I just felt I have more control booking myself

  5. Exactly I am picking mid Aft for interior decks 9 10 or 11 which are all with rooms above and below. I guess I am concerned we will be placed right by the elevator but I guess that is a risk I would have to take.

I just want to be sure I get a room on one of those decks as close to mis ship as possible. There are none mid so best.I can do is mid aft

  6. So we are not bidding whether we should select princess pics in a particular section

Apparently that would be a guaranteed room in the section that we select

It's wondering if others have done that and if so did you get a decent room or did you get stuck in some place you were not happy with.

  7. I have very few options for cabins at the moment for a trip we are considering.  The only cabin on the ship available for me to pick now is an obstructed view very last cabin in the back.  Its hard to know what is around it or if the engine is right there behind it.  My H is concerned about seasickness as we are ok on small boats but only once in rough seas on a sailboat where everyone on the boat was sick.  I like the location of the cabin in that it is on a deck with nothing but rooms above and below and not near the lifts or stairs but it literally is the very last cabin in the back.  So if anyone is familiar with cabins all the way in the back of the ship it would be helpful to know what its like. BTW we were loooking for an interior cabin but any available are not in a good location.  THis was next best so we really dont care about the view and the price was not that much more.

  8. Thank you all for this information .. very helpful.  I just talked with one of the princess reps but I think she does not work directly for Princess. I started out with a guy I really liked,, but when I started asking him more specifics about room availability he said he did not have access to the page he would need to get that info for me but was passing me on to a collegue sitting next to him ( I think BS ) and then I got disconnected but then some woman called me back and said Connor had tried to connect her but we got cut off.. This one I did not like so much.. too salesy.. she kept trying to upsell me even though I told her we don't drink and dont care about all the other stuff in the package.  Her email said contractor so I think they passed me on to one of the contractors and I am sure she was working from home as it was quiet and when I spoke with Connor I could hear the noise of a call center in the background.
So odd.. I liked him and he was more straightforward

Again thanks for all the info.. I think you guys are more helpful than the cruise planners!.

  9. We are looking at a trip for next summer and this is our first time cruising

Going with friends of ours who have cruised before

They're encouraging us to take the Premier package

We don't really drink much maybe a glass of wine with dinner and not every day

We don't drink coffee we just drink tea in the morning and mostly water during the day

We don't really care about specialty dining but they said if we didn't take the package and they did we would not be able to go to specialty dining with them. They said it would be hard to make a reservation if we did not have the premiere package.

I thought that we could just pay for those meals

I would like to pay separate for Wi-Fi tips and pay as I go for my drinks since I don't drink as much I think that's going to be much cheaper than spending $3200 for a lot of stuff we're never going to use

Just wondering others thoughts on this who have cruised before

  10. Wow very interesting!  Sort of what the airlines do.  We actually took a later flight once and got a good deal I think $300 backage for a future flight

As for the cruise, that would never work for us because I book additional land stays pre and post cruise and air travel .  All that would have to be canceled and rescheduled. But obviously it works for some people.

Well, not anywhere. It would have to be to a category Princess considers the same or higher than what you booked.

So no guarantee I would be midship. I am slightly concerned about rough seas as ww have only sailed on a small ship once in open season that were rough and all got sick.  I have been in plenty of boats before with no issue.

  12. True it's a crap shoot. It just seemed odd to me that woth only 16 available Cabins left on the entire ship the are letting people book in many categories so they must be sure they will have rooms available

I have never been on a large cruis ship but smaller ships ha e never bothered me. Only twice was I seasick and thst was in very rough waters much smaller boat going against the wind..most people were sick

  13. Sorry nubie here again. Trying to understand the difference between when it says a deck says sold out vrs nothing available now but princess will assign a room prior to sailing.

Does that mean on those latter decks there are available rooms but maybe a TA has them? I guess I don't understand if there are no rooms then why are they letting you make a reservation.
