  1. While there are a few adapters available for certain applications (such as a Nikon lens to Canon body, or Canon FD lens to Nikon body), they are really not a viable solution.

First, the optics will be suspect, and you may not get as sharp of a photo.

Second, the focus point often changes, so you may not be able to focus to infinity.

Third, you will have to use manual focus and manual exposure controls.

Manual focus these days is not that easy as DSLRs lack the ground glass focus grids that SLRs of old had.

Generally, you will likely find less than acceptable results.

awboater, Thanks for the info.I was hoping that it could be done Mrbill

  2. FYI: I was trying to book 5 hotel rooms for our April NCL cruise from LA/San Pedro. Three of the 4 were booked for April 12th.

    Pat

Try Doubletree hotel in Carson . They do have free shuttle to and from the cruise pier. Were staying there in Feb before our cruise. They have free parking, full breakfast plus the parking with the cruise pkg.

  3. Any suggestions on hotels that will keep our car for the week we are gone. We aren't picky. Cheap works for us.

Were staying at the Doubletree at Carson. For the room ,free parking, Full breakfast ,shuttle to the pier and pick up when you return I think were paying about $165.00 plus tax. This will be our fourth time staying there. Very nice hotel, and they give you free cookies and drink voucher. Hope this helps.

  4. Worse. Ugly surroundings. Busy traffic. Metro train goes right by the hotel. Muffler shop next door. Not a great neighborhood.

Do yourself a favor. Don't look for extreme bargains in Long Beach. Stick to these hotels:

Hyatt, Westin, Renaissance or Hyatt at the Pike...Hilton, Maya Doubletree, or Residence Inn Downtown...If you really want a Best Western, the Best Western on First Street is much better located.

If you need parking for the cruise, contact the Maya Doubletree or the Hilton and ask for a "Carnival" rate that includes parking for the week.

You will be SO MUCH HAPPIER staying in one of these hotels. Start off your cruise vacation right...with a nice hotel in a good neighborhood...

It is well worth spending a few dollars more...

    Thanks for the info

  5. Cruising out of Long Beach in April and am looking at staying at Best Western Golden Sails for night before and wonder if anyone has stayed here and can offer their opinion of using this for night before our cruise. Thank you.

We booked this hotel for our upcoming cruise in Feb. $150.00 for the room, full breakfast, parking for 1 week, shuttle to the pier and back to the hotel when you return. For the price I think it's a good deal, and i think you cant go wrong.

  6. They will only book so many rooms under the Carnival Corp code. Once they hit there limit, the price will be much higher. It just depends on when you sail. Try calling them and ask about a cruising special. We did one time and got a room that someone had canceled.

How do you get the Carnival code?

LOL...we made that mistake several years back on a last minute cruise. You are kind with your words.

The last 4 times we cruised from Long Beach we have stayed at the Maya 3 times and the Hilton once. Got the Hilton on Hotwire for $70... Not a bad rate but parking is $17 per night. We used the Carnival rate for the Maya, $119, which included shuttle and 7 day's parking.

How did you get a carnival rate for the Maya hotel for $119.00? Were taking a cruise in Feb 2014 and the price for the Maya is about $200.00 plus tax and fees.
