Thanks…I just didn’t know that if we order drinks anywhere on the ship if we could get whatever we wanted.

We bid the minimum…it was $270pp. Said it was a “poor” bid, so didn’t think we would get it. Bid Friday and found out this morning. We cruise this Friday 8/13.

    How was your YC experience?

Well I bid the minimum as well so I’m hoping. They are currently showing like 40 rooms available and we leave in less than two weeks. We shall see…

    Point #19 from the Ts&Cs...

    19. If the Guests are currently in a cabin with “Fantastica” or “Aurea” experience and submit an Offer to upgrade to a higher category, we cannot guarantee that they will be assigned to a cabin with the same experience, but the experience itself “Bella”, “Fantastica” or “Aurea” will be maintained. For the upgraded Bid in Yacht Club, we will guarantee all benefits related to the Yacht Club Experience in addition to the original experience.

The mix-up is probably do to an operator who misunderstood the meaning of "Promotions." It is elsewhere explained that the promotions attached to the original reservation remain the same and do not change with the upgrade.

Yep. Called back and got a different operator who clarified for me.

    It's actually the opposite 🙂

YC rooms are nothing to brag about and can be worse than many non-YC rooms. However, the experience is what people pay for. If you win an upgrade bid, you'll get both - room and experience.

Just called MSC and the upgrade does NOT include the experience. It only includes the bigger room. I don’t know how they can keep up with that if your in that area. Not worth the extra $ for just the bigger room.

  5. Can someone clear this up for me.... a received bid for an upgrade only gives you the room not the “experience”? If I get upgraded to YC I only receive a better room not all the perks? That’s what I’ve been reading on CC boards.

How does one bid for an upgrade?

You would need to have received an email from MSC letting you know you were eligible to bid. It’s pretty simple. They walk you thru the process

We bid and got a “good” chance. We sail on the 23. Did your embarkation time change with the room change?

In way back to Miami. I think it turned out to be a great time. Even though we're both vaccinated I had no issues or complaints about wearing masks.

I feel msc did a great job after adding entry points to buffets.

Island was great, but sure why they left at noon today for such a short trip.

Negatives. No diamond chocolate about anymore for 4 day cruise. Still says four in site but they just changed.

Msc non alcoholic was better in Europe, it was very limited with mocktails.

Lastly, my son was disappointed that formula car and flight simulator we're broken. I bought pre paid so they could not refund but documented so hopefully no issues with refund via customer service.

All in all I was more than satisfied.

Cruise lines seem to do more reductions in benefits than adding new ones. That chocolate was so good too!

I have not read the full thread, so excuse any overlap.

Imnho and based off what I saw on a YT video of MCS protocols, I expect mandatory for ALL cruisers contact tracing bracelets that also act as a touchless cruise cards. I would expect then to come in two colors, vacinated, unvacinated.

I then would expect mandated mask use for unvacinated cruiser. I would hope repeated violation would result in being removed at the next port, or at least mandated quarentine in you cabin. There may be required pre-bording RCL covid testing and repeated covid testing for unvacinated cruisers.

I also expect that there would be certian activities banned for unvacinated cruisers. Specialty dining. Shows, or at least being seated in an unvacinated section. Casino. Certain enclosed bars or eating venues.

Todate RCL says the "expect" cruisers will be 95% fully vacinated.

Sounds like discrimination and a lawsuit waiting to happen. Just saying….

Is it on the same ship and within the +/- 4 week window.  If so I'd try again.  There's nothing in the T&C about the "deal you got".   Oh wait there is, they are protecting the price and promo (the deal!).

In my case it was the exact same ship and itinerary except 1 day less, a port stop in Key West.   Multiple other people on our Roll Call also were able to do this.

Oh I just read your post in your roll call.  The deal was a group pricing.  I guess I can also agree that's a bit different.  Mine was a regular senior discount offered in February at a very attractive price.

I know it’s crazy. I actually contacted the head of PR at Celebrity and they said I could not make the switch because of the resident rate I got . My original sail date was Sept 25 2020. I requested Sept. 17, 2021 . DENIED. I wanted the PR department to know that nowhere does it state that the lift and shift is only applicable if you didn’t get a deal or if you paid enough money for it. I’ve battled with my TA and reps from Celebrity and they won’t honor it for me. Still believe it was promoted inaccurately.
