If they Odyssey moves back and the AIDAcosma´s second block is built at the door they first have to move the second block out of the hall. After that the Odyssey can leave the hall. So it´s easier to build the second block in the back, move out the (almost) finished Odyssey and move back in the AIDAcosma block which is now outside.

Strange they did odyssey the opposite way center section behind Iona floated it out moved Iona back then did odyssey's bow section in front of Iona

Inquiring minds want to know. Please translate if they expect a delay finishing by the 11/14 sailing from Ft. Lauderdale if anyone out there understood what was said Thanking you in advance Joan
I just cancelled my Nov 28 2020 sailing for a full refund. As others have said she was already behind and the fire just made her farther behind , I wouldn't be surprised to not see her in Florida till next fall after she does the summer in the Med but that's just my thoughts

Has it been confirmed that it was Odyssey ?

4049 new cases in Florida today September 16 ha we'll be lucky to have any go out this year if things don't change soon

Correct me if I am misinformed, but I do not think that Florida had the Phase 1,2,3,4 strategy that New York and neighboring states have chosen as a re-opening protocol.
Were the number of people using a beach in Florida limited? Was mask wearing and social distancing part of a plan? Were the number of customers in bars, restaurants and retail shops limited ? Did hair salons, barber shops, tattoo parlors and nail salons have to follow certain protocols for their businesses to operate ?
Here on Long Island, NY,we have recently been in Phase 2. The parking lot of a nearby State beach has limited parking, with every other spot marked with a traffic cone. Once the lot is full, beach goers are turned away. Our local town beaches are limited to resident permit only and capacity has been diminished.
In our township, there are signs posted that wearing a mask is necessary if social distancing of 6ft cannot be maintained. The amount of customers in retail stores, restaurants and bars are limited, with only outside dining being allowed. While hair salons and barber shops can be opened, certain protocols have been put in place such as no one in the waiting rooms, only hair services are allowed- no other beauty treatments can be offered. Tattoo parlors are not open.
So far, our numbers are good. We are hoping this trend continues.
Of course there is a concern that numbers of positive cases may happen given the protests of the past few weeks and more people coming out of their homes to return to work. However, data will be the deciding fact if Phase 3 occurs or if Phase 2 is rolled back.
It is this attention to the data for decisions about re-opening that has caused the NY numbers to be so low ( at least for now). Perhaps if the government of Florida had been more cautious concerning reopening, the increased numbers of Covid-19 would not be occurring in the state at the present time.
To return to the OP’s question will Florida cruises start back up in August? Most likely not if the numbers we are seeing in a Florida continue on an upward trend.
From someone who has stayed the course since March, dealing with the threat of the virus and learning how to maneuver in such a situation, there is 0% chance that I would be interested in going to Florida to get on a cruise ship any time soon. YMMV
Florida does have the Phase system we did limit restaurants to 25% access to beaches was limited most of the parking was closed hair salons bars and gyms were not allowed to open during phase 1 then came phase 2 opening bars hair salons and gyms, masks were not mandatory hence look at our cases now age group of most infected has moved from the 50 to 60 year old group to the 25-34 year old group go figure the same age group that think wearing masks is infringing on there rights and going out to bars is a good idea. Everyone is saying its just the ramped up testing that is causing the spike maybe so , i work in the plumbing supply business at a busy counter we have been wearing masks from the beginning i would have to say 90% of the customers coming thru our building don't wear masks. My company has learned from what happened with our stores in NY as of monday anyone coming in our store will be required to wear a mask. Many cities here are finally getting the message that mask will help and some are mandating a mask while in public. There will be in my opinion no cruising from Florida until this is under control and from what i am seeing here thats not going to happen by August

What is going on in Florida? They are predicting Florida to be the next epicenter and Governor Cuomo is threatening to require a 14 day quarantine for anyone coming to NY from Florida. I hope this is media hype. If Cruising is to start again this can't happen. People in Florida whatever you are doing wrong stop.
They say it's due to more testing from what I see the younger generations seems to think wearing a mask isn't worth there time

Thanks for your permission......and Baaaaaa, I will, along with most everybody else around here.
If other businesses don't require it, you won't last long.
L454S it's thinking like this that isn't helping slow the spread of this virus it really isn't that hard to wear a mask for a while, while in public not to just protect yourself but others also. Newcruiser1956 I personally would rather shop in your business than somewhere that doesn't require masks. L454S your thinking is why we won't be cruising for quite a long time.

COVID cases in Florida are flat. All major tourist areas are opening between now and July. Major events are being held in Orlando at the convention center. Sporting events are coming to Disney wide world of sports. Florida is in phase 2.
Tourist attractions have gone through reviews already for reopen plans. There is a plan for cruises, we just don't know them yet. But cruises will start soon. August I hope, but it is not know yet.
No cruise line is going to magically turn on the key, and start every cruise on the same day. But if you are booked from Florida to the Bahamas, that will almost certainly be the first one to go. Bahamas have a tourism start date in place, and Florida most likely will be at the Phase 3 mark sometime in July, so yes, it is a higher probability now that August might happen.
However, many of the longer multiport trips, might be more complicated to start.
They are on the rise in Florida we have had over 6000 new cases in the last 3 days alone I know they are testing more and I agree to a point but we also went to phase 2 a week ago everywhere but Miami area. The highest age group has changed to the 25 to 35 age group they seem to be more inclined to not wear masks

We are scheduled for January. I may wear a mask some of the time even if not required. Better safe than sorry. I fall in to a higher risk group. But a day on the ship is better than a day at home.
We're booked in November if she sails we will be on board even if it means wearing a mask been sitting at home way to long waiting for this to go away.

I'm hoping if it is cancelled they do it before our final payment due. And yes I'm losing hope that she will also.

Even if they manage to ship on time, I think the bigger issue is she'd be over booked given the expected capacity limits.
any idea what the capacity limits are going to be ?

It has nothing to do with the progress of the construction. The Iona is more or less finished but no hand over to P&O yet and that´s when Meyer is getting app. 80% of the cost. So in worst case the Odyessey is completed and will sit in Bremerhaven like the Iona is doing right now.
The Spirit of Adventure is due for summer... Saga is trying to keep the older ship (Saga Sapphire) which was supposed to leave the fleet.
So for RCI taking the Odyssey this year will reduce their cash... and RCCL already had to take the Celebrity Apex. So it would be in the interest of RCI to delay the hand over til 2021 as then they don´t have to pay for the ship.
But as said before neither Meyer nor RCI have disclosed any information about a delay of the Odyssey yet.

I can see P&O not taking Iona there is nothing they could do with her till everyone starts sailing again, on the other hand if there sailing by September or October I'm thinking it would make sence to take delivery of Odyssey looking at the sailings out of Ft Lauderdale they are all almost full sailings. Just me with a wee bit of hope she will sail in November
