  1. NCL ships in Picton berth at Waimahara wharf in Shakespeare Bay. From there, you'll be shuttled through the port to ouside the i-Site information centre in Auckland Street. Most of the rental car agencies are at the Interislander ferry terminal, 300 metres (1000ft) from the drop-off point.

    Blenheim (pop. 26,500) is notable for being the largest town in New Zealand without traffic lights. The major intersections are instead controlled by roundabouts, so if you're not familiar with them, you better learn quickly!

    Yes. Uber currently operates in 13 urban areas - Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupō, Napier-Hastings, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Queenstown, and Dunedin.

  3. Tipping is rare in New Zealand. Generally you only tip if you receive service above and beyond the normal call of duty, and some places have tip jars if you wish to dispose of your loose change.

    Service staff in New Zealand are comparitively well paid. The minimum wage for people aged 18 and over (and 16- and 17-year-olds after 3 months' employment) is currently 17.70 NZD per hour. That's around 11.75 USD at current exchange rates.
