  1. If you have a lot of luggage, consider rolling through the cruise terminal dropoff lanes and discharging your passengers and all luggage, then driving solo to the parking lot and taking the shuttle back. Saves the whole ordeal of getting luggage on and off the shuttle.

Most of these lots are so locked up, they're unusable except during the full cruise season. We've looked into parking there before taking Amtrak to Vancouver to take a one-night cruise back to Seattle, and the parking lot people said "sorry, not open until you arrive into Seattle."

Great Idea! I am surprised this thread is not getting more people to comment on this topic!

  2. We've parked at the Armory parking lot numerous times with no problems. We'll be parking there again this June when we do another Alaska cruise. The parking area is fenced and locked during the week. When you park your car a shuttle bus will pick you and your luggage up at your car, no need to drag your luggage to a central pickup point like the other parking lot. The shuttle bus will take you over to Pier 91, total time is about 20 minutes from the time we pulled into the parking lot to the time we were at the Pier.

The other parking lot, run by Port. They want you to drop off your luggage at the pier then park your car and wait for the shuttle to get full before they head to the pier. The Armory parking lot is our choice, it works for us.

Thanks for the information, do they require precooked parking or can you pay the day you drop off your vehicle or when you exit the parking lot.

  3. Has anyone from the board parked at the Armory nearby from Pier 91? If so could please advise if this would be a good alternative to leaving the vehicle versus leaving at the Port of Seattle at Pier 91.

Second question-- I would have is how is the security of the facility?

Third question -- Was it easy to get to the pier from the Armory? I have read they provide a shuttle to and from.

Or if any other person knows of any other cruise parking other than out by the airport.

We will be driving into Seattle and just looking at the options for our vehicle.

  4. Man I love Gaidos...its not a chain operation....they are a ma/pa type operation....great location, and they have since added free shuttle service, and have always had free parking......hotel is on the seawall, its not a 4 star, but the location and the beach directly across the road makes up for it......we loved it! Would highly recommend!

  5. We used public transportation when we were on Aruba and Curaco I believe both ports were under $2.00 for the ride on a city bus, which was a great and safe way to see the island and view the local attractions. We loved it, and was greatly affordable. We walked acrossed the swinging bridge into town, it was not that far, and then we hopped onto a city bus and toured away.

  6. The level is by the letter after the deck number. example deck 1 (bottom of ship) 1A lowest and cheapest deck 12 Highest catagory 12H. The higher the alphabet number is suppose to be a premium.

Its like driving a car, and picking your cars...you start off in a chevy, but you want to drive Royal Royce car.

Now if they are trying to fill up certain decks first, they may be lower or higher in order to get them sold. (supply and demand).

  7. Advises not to using any lubricate on the o-rings. They did however suggest if you get any lint or any other debris to use rubbing alochol to remove. But other than that no other material is to be used other than normal fresh water.

  8. BestBuy will price match anything on Amazon.com, as long as it is sold and shipped by Amazon. Was able to get all my accessories at BestBuy and got some awesome deals, like the Chesty for $15 (selling at Best Buy for $40), got the wrist housing for $26 (selling for $39.99 at BestBuy) and Head Strap+ Quick Clip for $14.99 (selling for $29.99 at BestBuy),and pole mount $15.73 (believe it was being sold for $19.99) and the Tripod mount for $6.90 (selling for $9.99) all these items were price match by Best Buy. This really saved me some money.

  9. 1] Pull the videos from the memory card to your computer hard drive

2] Open the editor program and add the video files to the left column

3] This is when you can look at them and decide what you want to actually edit - if you want to edit all of them, select all of them and then click the blue box just right of center at the bottom to "add selected to conversion list" and they will appear in the right column

4] Click the bottom blue box to convert them (this will take a few minutes to a couple hours depending on size of videos, power of the computer, etc)

5] When the program completes the conversion - "Step 2 Edit" box at top center turns blue - click it to start editing

6] Drag clips to the timeline at the bottom middle in the order that you want

7] You'll have to play with the settings to learn them - adding titles, music, speed up/slow down, etc.

8] Click "Step 3 Export" and choose what format you want the finished movie to be in. Click "Export" and the program will compile the movie

9] When it finishes you should have a viewable, shareable movie.

Otherwise, check youtube for tutorials, look for gopro forums, etc.

Thanks, Shootr will be playing with the camera on my days off, I only have 2 weeks then I am driving to Miami to set sail on the Breeze.

  10. Thank you all for the quick responses! Any advice for the SeaTrek helmet dive? (or walk would be a better term) With regard to batteries, are there "generic ones"? I have Amazon Prime, so can get things quickly, but if the GoPro site is better, I'll order direct, if I can get things delivered in time. (Or I could just go to BestBuy locally)

  11. Something similar happened to me this past summer on the Breeze (although I was using a credit card). On the last morning, the statement that was delivered was accurate and we left the ship.

Upon returning home, I phoned the credit card company to find out what the actual charge was when the Sail and Sign balance was converted to Canadian dollars. I was shocked to find that it was significantly more than the balance showing on my FINAL statement.

I phoned/emailed Carnival several times without a response. It was once I started posting on Facebook, and on John Heald's page, that someone finally started looking into it. The charge was for mini-bar charges that were conveniently added after we disembarked. I refused to pay it - and it was only when they analyzed my actual bar charges to find that we had not once in the eight days drank anything that they claimed was taken from the mini-bar.

Long story short, the cabin steward was questioned, and he admitted that he had not done an inventory of the mini-bar for the past several cruises. When he finally got around to it at the end of our cruise - we were charged for everything that was missing. I was impressed that Carnival was able to get to the bottom of this, even though it was several weeks later. To their credit they did remove the charge from my credit card statement.

In the future, I will always ask to have the fridge cleared out as soon as I meet my steward. It is frustrating to try and get something cleared up from 1500 miles away.

Hopefully your issue just has to do with the "holds", but if not Carnival will be able to tell you exactly what the charges are for, and if it is alcohol, even the brand in question.

    Good luck with everything.

I knew this happens more than some tends to believe. I wanna know how many fail to catch the scenario that you just described!

  12. I learned from my experience, when I cruised back in 2012, our cruise was great until, we got back home. Let me fast forward.....I normally would put my visa credit card for the sign and sail, never had any issues until this cruise. After that cruise I had a cabin attendant, try to bill me for all the drinks in the cabin, and also try to charge for towels and robe. I never use any of the drinks in the cabin, because I always smuggle mine onboard. As for the towels, we always turned those in each port. Now as for the robe, this is what is so damn funny, I am XL and do not fit into the robes, so I have never used the damn things. I think we ended up with a disgruntle cabin attendant, who thought he would make somes ones day. Well he sure made mine, It took several weeks fighting with Carnival, but the charges were finally reversed after I stood my ground, and also contacted my credit card and disputed the charges. I then called my Carnival Rep, who then informed me that this happens from time to time, when they get crew members who become upset, because they had found out someone did not pay the gratuties. We always pay ours, even go above and beyond if the service is excellent by providing cash to the individuals who make it worth while. After that I will never sail again, without getting a pre-paid credit card. I learned from this experience.

  13. I have done this for every cruise I have gone on, and the only complaint I got from all the people that was at the party, is that they wished they would have booked as many parties as they could, because you can not beat the price of the alochol for the 1 or 2 hour party that you hold. The max time limit is 2 hours, if I recall correctly. But for the money.....its very much worth the price .....and the open bar, now if you are premium alochol (top shelf drinker, then there is additional charges for those drinks) but it is not that much more in the price.....very well worth it!

This is the only cruise I have been on that the roll call is not that active....

When I set up my parties, I had everyone send there funds via paypal, for immediate payment....make sure that its sent as a gift/personal in paypal or you will be accessed the fees associated with the sending the money.

  14. Is there a cost for parking if you are disabled?

Disabled parking in all the terminal parking facilities at the Port of Miami is free. However, in order for the parking fees to be waived, appropriate documentation must be provided to the Toll Attendant upon exiting the parking garage.

    • Disabled Parking Checklist / Required Documents

    ____ State Issued: Driver's License/I.D. Card/Passport

____ Original Parking Sales Receipt/Parking Ticket Stub (No Copies)

____ Authentic Disability Placard/Permanent Disability License Plate

____ Proof of Sailing (Sailing Card or Original Purchased Ticket Issued from the Cruise Line)

____ Letter/Card from DMV-(Dept. of Motor Vehicles) signifying who the Disability Placard is Assigned to (NOTE:

applies to states that do not have a Driver's License # on placard!)

  15. Has anyone ever had a drink on Princess called Kiss on the Lips It is a carnival drink but I thought maybe being owned by Carnival Princess may have it. Thanks

They do not have it....I just got back from cruise, and attempted to bring this drink to the bartenders drinks, and no bartenders knew of what i was talking about, if you could please advise of what is in this drink....so it can be brought to the bar managers attention!

THIS IS A VERY GOOD TO DIE FOR DRINK!!!!!

  16. kcfan,

I do believe you were the original poster of this thread....it was a good one...hard to believe it's almost been a year since i cruised on the conquest....

thanks again for the great starter and info!

no problem...glad to see it is helping others get the questions answered, tried to start a couple on the princess board and got nothing but flack....its hard to look up your questions when everyone is posting numerous post each day....

Are you going on another cruise? We just booked the Caribbean Princess to experiment with another cruise line ( Sister Cruise line to Carnival).

  17. In addition to distress signals like Mayday and pan-pan, most vessels, especially passenger ships, use some emergency signals to internally alert the crew onboard, and in some cases also the passengers. These can be in form of blasts on alarm bells, sounding the ship's whistle or code names paged over the PA system.

    • Mr. Skylight paged over the PA system is an alert for the crew onboard and means there is a minor emergency somewhere.[1]

    • Mr. Mob means man overboard. [2] Man overboard can also be signaled with three prolonged blasts on the ship's whistle and general alarm bell. [3]

    • Code Blue usually means a medical emergency.
    • Assemble at Muster Stations or Abandon Ship, seven or more short blasts on the ship's whistle and general alarm, followed by one long blast.[3]
    • Fire and emergency, continuous ringing of the general alarm bell for ten seconds and a continuous sounding of the ship's whistle for ten seconds.[3]
    • Bravo, Bravo, Bravo, used by many cruise lines to alert crew to a fire or other serious incident onboard without alarming passengers.[4]
