  1. When I read that bit about your husband not wanting you to check-in with the kids..it made me smile. : ) He wants all of your attention. Your kids won't care of remember so maybe pretend your childless for the week? That might be fun but you also might come back with a souviner. Happened to me : )

We came back with twins after our last cruise. :-)

  2. Question for all of you Moms & Dads out there when cruising without your kids:

We will be cruising on Oasis with our toddlers on "vacation" at grandma and grandpas. They do really well there, and usually have a weekend sleepover once a month or every six weeks. I would like to facetime in the mornings and before bed with the kids, but my husband thinks it may give them more anxiety to do that.

What have you done in this situation? Only interested in feedback if you have actually been in this situation.

We fly out Thursday for much needed rest. Have twin boys that are 2.5 years and another son that is 5. My wife and I both have the internet package to keep in touch and to face time. I don’t think FaceTime will create issues unless it is done too much.

  3. I don't want your pity. Would just be nice if people had enough respect not to openly discuss how to smuggle prohibited items. What a day and age we live in where someone with a moral compass is offered pity from a stranger. Its okay, I know right from wrong and I'm not going to be shamed into choosing the wrong way to act. If I want a drink I'll buy one, thanks, earned the money.

If you don't like the smuggling posts feel free to skip them. Nobody is forcing you to read them or to respond.

  4. I think we should just tip after every meal....That way, if the service was lousy, then we don't tip much, but if the service is exceptional, then we can over tip!!!

    DROP MIC!!!

    BOOM!!!

    SOLUTION SOLVED!!!

    EVERYONE IS HAPPY NOW!!!!

This would work in American markets but several areas of the world don't typically tip. This change would hit the crew hard.

  5.

    3) the crowd was an interesting mix. Tons of Brazilians and lots of other international folks. The Americans seemed overwhelmingly white, southern, and midwestern. Lots of unfortunate tattoos. \

Unfortunate tattoos? I guess I'll have to keep my tattoo covered up when I am on the Indy next week. It's a tattoo of my son's footprints on my right arm. Unfortunately he unexpectedly passed away at day care when he was 8 months old. Don't judge someone because they have ink.

  6. We flew to FLL on SWA the second week of December for a cruise, and specifically avoided Denver for layovers for that very reason. There was no snow in Denver, but It turned out to be freezing cold in Florida, anyway.

And I will never forget the year that our friends from Massachusetts flew out to meet us in Las Vegas for a vacation in April. On their return flight, they ended up being stuck in Denver at the airport for almost 2 days! They had a horrible time trying to get home.

Denver is normally safe except for in March. That’s blizzard season.

  7. I guess the lesson learned here is don’t connect thru a city in the snow belt, in the winter, if you can avoid it. Specifically during the holidays, with most flights being full, it will takes days for the airlines to accommodate all the displaced travelers.

Exactly! When I booked my flight from Denver to FLL several wanted to take me through JFK or BWI. I ended up booking direct on a red eye. Denver can be a risk as is this time of year.

  8. Another thing you can request info from Royal as to learn who will be performers for your cruise. Email them at this email:

    web_reservations@rccl.com

This can be asked couple weeks prior to sailing so you can Google/YouTube the performers to see if their entertainment venue is what you like to hear. This is what I received from the Royal:

This is an estimate of our entertainment schedule and is subject to change. The most up-to-date information regarding entertainment can be found in your Cruise Compass once onboard, and at the Box Office.

Thank you for this information! I'll shoot them an email to find out who the guest entertainers will be on my upcoming cruise.

  9. The only thing better than Royal Caribbean's website is their customer service. I attempted to print my luggage tags this evening and they are showing a random cabin on deck 6 instead of my cabin on deck 10. I called and had to explain my issue twice because customer support wasn't listening the first time. He said he fixed the issue and quickly left the call. Can anyone guess what happened when I tried to print them off an hour later? Yup, still reflected the incorrect cabin number. I called back again and the 2nd guy seemed to know what he was doing. He said he fixed the issue and the correct cabin should be reflected in 24 hours. Any bets on if my issue will be resolved? This I normally wouldn't post this but this is after an error on my Cyber Monday OBC and several calls to get it fixed. Royal Caribbean needs to remember that vacations are supposed to be relaxing. It shouldn't be so difficult to do business with them.
