That was the earliest you could walk off the ship. I don’t know what time we got back to Miami, but when I walked around the ship at 5:45 AM we were already docked.

Icon was back in Miami at 3-3:30AM. The issue is that it has to get all the luggage, clear all customs. We got off at 7:30-7:45.

  2. To the person who said those on Icon are those who money is no object, that is NOT true! We booked a balcony on the Inaugural when bookings opened and paid under 4500 dollars with all our taxes, port fees and drink package. The longer you waited, the higher the price went.

This is what is causing the problem.  In order to do the changes and make the FCC instantly redeemable, stackable, shareable and leftover used right away they have to change everything so FCC’s now reflect as a payment which means removing them and then reapplying them thus causing the reprice on price protected bookings.

My husband has been on the phone with India--I mean Royal for 2 hours and they were useless even to explain what credits we have left and what we can apply to pay off our next cruise.  The second time they hung up on HIM! There is NO way to speak to anyone in the US and no way to get help.  This is all a fiasco when it comes to FCC and the limited time L&S.  We are SO upset it will not make this cruising mess any better when knowledgeable people are few and far between.

I agree with you for the most part.

Some areas of the US are out of control, not all.  The northeast was hit hard early on and locked down for a long time.  The gradual reopening is still in process.  I am in Massachusetts and we are only in the beginning of phase three, which just started this week for most of the state, with Boston starting next week.  Each phase has multiple steps with two weeks between each at a minimum.  People entering Massachusetts, from all but eight states, have to self quarantine for two weeks.  We currently have a less than 2% positive test rate with over a million test done in our small state alone.  Other states in the northeast have similar progress.

Other areas of the country are regressing.  They opened too soon and too quickly and are now having ridiculously high numbers of positive cases.  Until those areas get their act together, I can totally understand why there are bans against the US.

I too am from MA and agree that this state has done it right. As for the states that are in current free fall, they have given the rest of the country that’s doing well a bad rap. Those states are where our cruise ships would be so getting them under control and their “kids” to grow up and immigration may finally help control the situation. But ALL USA is not out of control.

  5. Yes, roomates can go through the Gold line (or whichever you qualify for), with you.

I agree, if you have sailed 7 cruises, unless they were 3 - 4 night ones, you should be Platinum (30 cruise nights).

Yep first figure out how many points you have. After 7 cruises, you can be more than Gold, which everyone can be after ONE cruise.

  6. I don't believe it is true.

I believe my TA just can't be bothered. I had a similar response when I asked her about the $200 OBC I had for the cancelled booking that was from booking with Next Cruise.

I have given her three options:

    • Call RC again and escalate to resolve
    • Remove the FCC from our booking and reprice (not sure if this can even be done)
    • I take the booking back from them and cease doing business with them.

We have been going through similar garbage with our so called TA. They ruined our 125% by advising to cancel our transatlantic too soon. Only got 100% credit. And deny ever telling us to do that! Then we missed our July payment(but fell on our sword with royal) and managed to salvage and pay off our next cruise. Needless to say we have 4 other cruises booked WITHOUT this TA’s assistance! Useless!

  7. Unfortunately, Covid-19 really doesn't care about opinion.  Opinions don't affect the actual science behind how to slow the Covid down.

Best wishes to former presidential candidate Hermann Cain who was just hospitalized with Covid-19 after testing positive on 6/29 because it was his opinion he didn't need to wear a mask at a rally in Oklahoma nine days previous.

You do realize this is CRUISE CRITIC and not POLITICAL/COVID CRITIC[emoji19]

  8. Maybe book further out. If you have had 5 cancelled you must be booking every month.

Book later in 2021, or I to 2022, instead of months you have to know will get cancelled. I'd say good chance another round or two cancelled. If you are booking dates within the no sail order how could you not expect to be cancelled

This is what we are doing. We still have one scheduled for October but doubt it. The other 3 are scheduled throughout 2021. We shall see. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼
