As families get back in the ship they are saying there u.s broken glass everywhere. Many of the buildings are spray painted.  Cops are everywhere so people said that was good but everything is basically shut down so they got back on the ship.  My husband and boys are still on their atv excursion.  Word from cops is the riots will start up at 1pm. Everyone is suppose to be in the ship by 1:30pm.

I just saw the report from the protests from last night (the 17th). What started off as controlled quickly turned into a spray paint, tear gas, molatov cocktail throwing mess that did not settle down until 3am. Please be careful out there.

  2. Read on Cruise Fever:

Royal said that in order to improve guest experience and to minimize wait times, there will be a fee for the North Star and Ripcord by iFly on Quantum of the Seas starting with the November 16, 2019 sailing.

The new fees will be as follows:

    • Ripcord by iFly: $29 pp USD
    • North Star: $12 adults pp USD / $8 child pp USD (up to 11 years)
    • Bumper Cars: Complimentary (with option to upgrade to Express Lane for $5 pp USD)

Note: Express Lane option is to be paid onboard at the Seaplex/Bumper Car area.

Guests will be able to purchase tickets for these activities on Cruise Planner.

These new fees apply to Quantum of the Seas on roundtrip sailings out of Singapore starting on November 16, 2019.  Cruises that are nine nights or more in length and repositioning sailings are excluded from these new fees.

I think your being very short sighted, but that’s ok. There are scheduled to be over 12,000 cruisers stopping there in the next 3 days. There are people embarking on Freedom this Sunday (myself included) that are changing their flights and cancelling pre cruise hotel stays.

Who brought up hurricane recovery corruption?

i never claimed the governor was or was not corrupt (frankly I don’t care), but in the USA we have a due process system to handle

these things, we don’t take to the streets in a mob.

OMG! Who changed this into a political discourse?  Please understand that what is going on P.R. is local but it does affect the cruise ship tourism since they are in Old San Juan. They have spilled into the OSJ area and you must be aware and stay safe. As far as "WE" in the USA have "due process" remember P.R. IS USA even if they are on an island and not in the US proper.  And read your current events especially out West where there are mobs taking to the streets.  Back to what to do. Monitor the protests and how far they bleed into the Old San Juan area.  If you want to stay safe and don't want to venture out, eat in the hotel you are staying at.

  4. Yes, we have received them complements of chef, and we have received complements of captain and crew, and other complements food goodies.  I think it may depend on what is going on for your cruise. Ours was our vow renewal cruise where we had a suite, and the Captain was officiating.  We enjoy the treatment and the goodies.  Don't always get them.  We have gotten the cookies, the strawberries and petite fores(?) if in a suite.  Crown and Anchor sometimes sends stuff in too. No, we are not Pinnacle, we are "lowly Diamond:).

@jbethel11  I too hope it was edible if you ate it! 🤣 but those two top ones always looked odd to be as they seemed “wrapped” in something?! Maybe that is why!

@marci22 I think you ruled out the bottom one he got that was delicious - thanks!

@CapeGal that sounds lovely! But I wonder if they use that for anniversaries since is sounds almost like a miniature wedding cake. I do wish you had a photo. Did it taste as good as it looked.

I hope this works.  It was DEE Licious!!

I cannot seem to find any pictures of the cake itself for you all to see vicariously. However, I can embed an image in your mind through taste!

I too wish I could find the photo of our vow renewal cake.  It was a square cake. It was butter cream and ivory color.  It had beautiful sugar flowers and pearls on it. WAY more than we expected!  It was beautiful!

Are there any low sugar (carb) wines that someone can suggest?  I’m not a wine drinker normally, haven’t been a drinker at all for the past few years due to medications, but I’m off the meds now and rather than get another towel or tote I’d like to get a bottle (or 3) of wine when I cruise in September B3B.

Which have the lowest sugar content on the list?  Or at the bars?

     Thank you.

Both dry red and dry white will tend to be lower in residual sugar levels.

When it comes to sparkling wines, opt for extra dry, brut or extra brut sparkling wine and Champagne. Maybe knowing this, you can look up some names. I am not a dry wine drinker. They leave a "tangy" taste on my tongue. LOL

  8. Just having been on in May, we found the Promenade the best place to hang out and people watch.  The ship is not new but it is an awesome class. We did not get a chance to hang out in the Solarium (not for lack of trying) because it was taken over early in the morning by towel hoggers.  SO if you want to go there, be early or be ready to move towels ;).

  9. We too were on the 5/5/2019 cruise and it was WONDERFUL! We renewed our wedding vows and the photos turned out great wherever we took them.  The ship looked great.  Obviously an older ship, but Royal treats its ladies with great care.  Our room was a Junior Suite and it was very well taken care of.  Have a wonderful time.

Ours were hanging and tied at the waist.  We never touched them the entire week, and they were probably left as is for the next occupants.

Ours were too.  I just don't get this "love of robes". I see some people wandering the halls with just the robes on and it is not a pleasant site.  Sorry -it's just me.

  11. As you can see, two answers, two opinions.  The newer the ship or refurbishment the firmer the mattress (MY opinion). We like the firmer mattress.  Found them very comfortable. The one we just had on Adventure of the Seas was on the UNcomfortable side. Felt a bar down the center, so it must have been an older version.
