  1. When sailing on Seaside, the Royal Suite in the Yacht Club gets a complimentary cabana for the week.  Does anyone know if you get a complimentary cabana on Meraviglia if you are in the Royal Suite or the duplex suite in the Yacht Club?  Thank you.

My MSC cruises, past and future.  January on Seaside was great: warm and gracious officers and crew; beautiful ship inside and out; Ocean Cay; sticky buns, pizza, merengues, curries; meeting and talking with people from Italy, Germany, South Africa, Mauritius, Brasil.

Our weeks on Armonia, intended to be this month, are not to be.

And now I'm missing all the posts that used to appear here:  "Are there any foods that Americans can eat?"; "Do the men wear Speedos?"; "Does anyone dress up?";  "Is there a Margaritaville on Ocean Cay?" (okay, I made that one up).

I miss even the ones I disagreed with ("the crew are so unfriendly"), and the ones I don't care about (beverage packages, ports).

Can we resurrect some of those posts, even if we don't have an MSC cruise in the immediate future?  What did you most enjoy discussing a few short months ago?

You are so right.  I miss it too.  We love Seaside and have already missed two sailings.

Just curious if anybody has heard any news  if MSC Seashore will be coming for the 2021 Caribbean Season out of Miami?? Usually there is some talk out there.. I heard it is a possibility. Just wanted to hear if anyone else had news??

Yes.  It is advertised on their website.  We are booked.

I have my eye on a November 2020 cruise. This date is quite optimistic.  I'm hoping we have a vaccine by then. Once a vaccine is available-then I will feel comfortable booking again.

I agree. We have one in November, too.

I just get the feeling that, even if most of our normal lives resume, I can't see any kind of venues where large crowds gather reopening until a vaccine is released.  This disease spreads too easily and is too deadly to really bring people into large crowded situations until this is under control.

So my guess is that things like Conventions, Concerts, Sporting events, Resorts, Cruises, etc will all be closed until then.

With that in mind, I was thinking about how crowded the theater gets on the Seaside during their evening shows--especially the one spotlighting Michael Jackson.

Our Celebrity B2B due to start on 4/06 was canceled and we’re waiting on a full refund. Our Seaside cruise scheduled for 5/06 is still on per MSC even though we are not going and I seriously doubt it sails anyway. We’re waiting to see what MSC does before we act to move the date. We’ve already canceled our hotel and airfare for Miami.

As far as when cruising will start, it’s anyone’s guess but I personally do not see ships going out with guests anytime soon and to be honest we’re in no hurry. I read a statement from Carnival Corp. CEO that they’re prepared financially if ships have to sit idle for the remainder of the year. I suspect RCCL is in the same position. I also read that financially NCL was in pretty good shape to ride this out. Not sure about MSC.

We’re blessed to live in a part of the country where we have beautiful weather. We have been mandated by our Mayor to “shelter in place” since the 17th. We have followed orders other than buying groceries which we’re allowed to do. We’re just spending time in our backyard using the pool and pretending we’re on vacation.🙂 Stay safe everyone.

We are doing the same--pretending to be on vacation and just going out for groceries.  We have trips this summer--doubt we will go and even if MSC will go--it's Seaside in the Caribbean.

I imagine that uncertainty whether certain islands will allow ships to dock, in the coming months/years, will be a big factor in resuming cruises.

Personally, I would love a cruise that only stopped at Ocean Cay and perhaps one other place within a week.  We would even gladly do that itinerary B2B.

I realize it might not be as appealing to potential passengers from UK/Europe/South America.

Would you do that itinerary if it got you cruising sooner?

Yes!!!  We would love that itinerary.

At least MSC is posting a date further out than Royal (April 11), Carnival (April 10), and Norwegian (April 12) for their current returns. I don't think we'll be cruising by the end of April, definitely not in 3 weeks.

I know what you mean.  We are even questioning July.

Not sure this will stop you from getting it since it isn't a flu or cold. However, the risk really isn't getting sick...500+ cases in the US vs hundreds of thousands of flu cases.

The problem is getting quarantined on a ship. Not being able to get back to work, missing flights. Or the reverse...being stuck at embarkation because the ship you are about to get on can't debark.

    Ariborne can't help that.

If you want to not get sick, wash your hands regularly, don't touch your face, limit contact with others.

    Quarantine is the problem.

We are nervous to go on 3/21 on seaside because several of us have underlying health issues and my husband is 83 which puts him in a high risk category. Did MSC give the option to rebook because when I called they offered nothing.

Yes, the Assurance Policy begins tomorrow, the 10th.  I just read it.  You can re book with a Future Cruise Credit up until December 31 2021.  Only on sailings that you have prior to July31, 2020.

We’re scheduled to be on the Seaside March 21 also.  I’m so conflicted.  I’m not really worried about the virus, I’m worried about a possible quarantine because of other passengers. We’ll have 2 dogs in boarding and both have full time jobs. We’re contemplating cancelling if the announcement tomorrow allows for it w/o penalty, and the booking a VRBO in the Keys for the week.  Any thoughts?

Same as you.  Worried more about quarantine than anything else.  We both work full time.  Anticipating what they say tomorrow.  We also have one booked in June--hopefully better by then.

We just got off the Seaside this morning, I’m in the airport now. No issues onboard and honestly felt removed from the Coronavirus craziness while on the cruise last week. There are sanitizer stations everywhere and we washed our hands frequently. Have a great trip!

You are encouraging.  We leave March 21.  Been on Seaside 3 times and do love the YC.  Have been looking forward to the trip for a long time......

We leave on our cruise on Seaside tomorrow. Every time I tell someone we're going, they react in horror, so I know what you mean! I'm taking disinfectant wipes to use on both plane and in cabin. A nurse friend gave me some masks, but we are healthy, so I don't think we'll need them. I'll try to reply when we get back on the 14th. When is your cruise?

March 21.  Thank you.  Still conflicted....

I'm honestly not sure. I found a list of the lines involved in the conference yesterday, but can't find it right now.

@Homosassa I disagree. I think that MSC making their policy public (as so many other cruise lines are doing) will allow everyone (including those thinking about booking a MSC cruise) know what to expect from the company.

I think the frustration from so many is that other lines are making policy statements public while MSC is, as you say, handling 'each unique situation as it arises'.  Hardly seems efficient, but I suspect MSC has more balls in the air due to it's clientele.

People simply want to know what to expect in the upcoming weeks. So many other cruise lines have put their consumer minds at ease, it makes MSC look less consumer friendly than the competition. Not to mention the consumer skepticism that has risen as a result of MSC publishing a policy and then retracting it.

With that said, I do believe that MSC will eventually follow suite with the rest of the industry. This is a very dynamic situation. It is just taking MSC longer to get a plan together. I suspect that if MSC had a policy to share, they would. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.

I think that MSC should follow suit of the other cruise lines with this new cancellation policy.  If anything, it would promote "good will".  Otherwise, future consumers are just going to remember that MSC was not compassionate during this time when people are so undecided and uncertain.

You and I are in a similar boat (pun intended). I'm sailing seaside a few weeks before you so I will have to make my decision sooner. I'm pretty sure at least a few of my girlfriends are going to cancel, even though I am trying to get them to  wait and see. The fact that we won't lose airfare is a big plus for us. We will loose money paid to MSC, but we booked fantastica balconies at a rate of $529 pp so even if we loose ALL Of that  and cancel on the last day it won't be a major hit (port taxes and fees will be returned to anyone who cancels). I mean, no one wants to lose $500, but it's an easier pill to swallow.

I think the next few weeks will tell a lot, but I would be lying if I told you I wasn't apprehensive. So many unknowns.

We are sailing Seaside in a few weeks and will lose all of our money if we do not go.  It is very tense, when we should be excited.

Where are you sailing? MSC is not letting Italians on board? 300 plus people are too many to come from those quarantined towns in Italy. It would be nice if you could post anything you learn about this situation. Thank you!

The itinerary is Caribbean for one week.
