Why did they put the screen the side and not the middle. It seems the outdoor movie screen is on the side. Meaning only the people seating on the opposite side can see. Anybody know why it was done? who would sit with there back to the screen?
Was reported that when Richard Fain walked on the deck her didn't like where it was, that it was blocking, and wanted it moved

Would love to see what they look like.
Thanks
Check out the quantum Facebook page there are videos of the cabin

The statement was made that they are still using the old technology until they hit Bayonne, once you get close enough they will be switching the new equipment on and it will increase

Thanks for sharing. Was hoping to see some pics of the SJS, but, no joy.
Checkout the quantum Facebook page, there is one or two of the SJS

It was reported that the quantum is officially now under the ownership of royal Caribbean. This info came from Archie

That was as it was leaving dry dock
I do believe they are able to turn them off and on, when it reaches the states they will have to use them with the new standards. There is only so much they will be able to clean using bunker to fuel the ship.
It's the same idea with the Diesel engines here in the states where they have to use a catalyst to clean the exhaust, there are failures within that system as well

I'm pretty sure that was one of the reasons it had to go to dry dock for adjustments.

Bayonne needs to take a lesson from the construction of the new terminal at Port Canaveral.
Both need to open at the same time…. one is very behind.
If I'm not mistaken port canaveral is just an expansion project, where cape liberty is a complete new build. I would expect port canaveral to be done first and ready

Yup. And this is it from the outside.
The one thing I noticed was at night when they the top deck all lit up, it washes the "seas" out. I think they should have put dark glass behind that as well

Someone also noticed the black smoke
A Quantum Hazard: Why is a Smart Ship So Stinky?
Judging by this video, it's too bad that this supposedly technological "smart" ship still burns bunker fuel. Watch the video below; you can see the ship spewing emissions from high sulfur "dirty" fuel. Unfortunately, China is a good location for such an environmental beast. There are loose air standards over there.

I'm willing to bet they aren't using the scrubber system yet. I would think that once the scrubbers are in use you won't see that black smoke

Great photos! Now we just need someone with access to the inside of the ship.
If you go and check out the ships webcams you can see some of the work being done.

WOW that will give you that wind in the hair feeling! 😲

That method is only designed for testing purposes and limited to 100 devices that are individually allowed access. Even this method though I believe requires Internet access.
I get that as well, but none the less I don't think the app is going to be that large of a file, considering it will use the ships resources for planning what you want to do

Getting an app requires accessing an app store which needs Internet. There may be a way for Royal Caribbean to setup some kind of one off Android app store that operates entirely internally but the device support would be limited. For iOS devices there is no way to get an app without accessing the official Apple App Store. They could allow devices to talk to Apple but that would also allow people to download/update other apps as well which can be bandwidth intensive. Even if they tried to restrict portion of that usage it would be incredibly difficult to allow a single app but not accidentally break any other required communication. I'm not aware of any company that has accomplished that.
As far as Apple is concerned if it is your own app it technically does not need to hit the app store, you can push it out over your own network.

For a fee. Wonder if Royal will give everyone free Internet the first day. Disney has an app and when you go in your room the first day there is a paper talking about the Internet that includes a code for a few free minutes of Internet. It's only good if activated the very first day and seems to be done as a work around for needing Internet access to get the app.
I would think that if you need the app, they will have it available on the intranet so it won't cost anything
