It's why it's the OVC all the way for us.

We like a varied buffet selection enjoyed at leisure in our expandable-waistline shorts and loose-fitting T-shirts. It's rare the nights we don't make at least three visits to sup at the waterhole.

Top-notch curries or Asian food one night. A nice beef carvery with mounds of roast potatoes the next.

My wife is a big dessert fan although you wouldn't think so with her svelte appearance. I'm definitely in the cheese, biscuits and chutney camp.

Then perhaps a nightcap or two smoking a cheroot and looking out at the starry night.

Tbh, this works much better for us on water than the MDR or handing over serious wonga for a 'speciality' restaurant.

Each to their own of course.

You can also have your own table and a quiet conversation with your spouse in the OVC instead of the people sitting on top of you in the MDR or other dining room.

  2. Just off Summit 2 weeks ago, first time on Celebrity and sailed Aqua Class. We found Blu hit or miss and I agree the short ribs were terrible. My steak was over cooked, but that happens when cooking large quantities. DH was very disappointed when he ordered the scallop appetizer and received only one scallop. I did order between MDR and Blu and mixed and matched. We enjoyed the food in the OVC and choose to eat there 2 nights instead of dressing up for Blu.

We did enjoy the cruise but found the Summit too small and lacking in entertainment. I have to say it was the best service by staff we have ever had on a ship. Probably will return to RCL Oasis class as Coastal Kitchen is hard to beat. Just wanted to share an honest opinion of a first time celebrity cruiser.

  3. Is  Blu better on E class ships? I was on the Summit  2 weeks ago and not impressed with Blu. I found the menu very limited and did eat off the MDR menu once or twice. The desserts were very disappointing with the exception of the chocolate cake.  Believe or not 3 out of the 7 nights we ate in the buffet because the menu did not entice us and my DH eats anything. Not sure I would cruise Aqua Class again.

Appreciate your review!  Bermuda is on my bucket list but have put it off bc it seems more like a destination than an actual cruise. Were venues like the casino open in the evening or did everything stay shut down for the time you were in port?

I was on this same cruise. The casino opens at 9 pm every

    evening while in port.
