We have a little Wine Club group of our friends here at our apartment complex.  One of the things I enjoy doing is hosting a blind wine tasting.  I chat with the Product Consultant (who is a dear friend) at our LCBO  (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) to pick the wines.  Sometimes they are all wines from the same country.  sometimes they are all the same varietal from different countries, sometimes they are all whites from various countries or all reds from various countries.  We taste our way through and then there is a quiz.  Much fun and laughter.

Here are images from a tasting of wines from Italy....

Blimey! I can assure you that my morning post was quite tongue in cheek….whilst l have no desire to divulge my personal finances on a public forum l admire you for generosity to your chosen charity.

Having both worked at sea as well as multiple cruise holidays since 1970 l have now hung up my oars but still enjoying reading about others fabulous adventures.

    😊

So was my reaction 😁..!! yes my chosen chosen charity is very close to my heart ❤️.as I'm living with myeloma .. just recovering from second stem cell transplant back in January... Yes I so much enjoy reading about all the other coolers experience of fine dining etc... but I've said several times now to my husband & friends why do I respond to the cooler.. as I get knocked back so many times... I just guess I'm not in with the in crowd 😞... Been cruising with silversea since 2004 ... But still don't seem to fit in.never mind life fore goes on with people who really care for me ...

    Good morning coolers!

Very quiet here today..so far…maybe our UK contingent are having a lie in or are glued to the olympics…

Not a good morning for me as I’ve just paid my tax bill…it really hurts and with the news that us old trouts won’t be getting our winter fuel payment doubles the pain 🫣

However, tis good to be alive on this beautiful Tuesday is it not 😊

Oh poor thing.. so you really need that allowance... I've been receiving it because I could, but to be honest did I really need it ..nope ...  I just donated it to myeloma uk.. Just have to save a little more for your next cruise 😂...

We enjoyed the daily included laundry on Regent last year, around Japan; and now we get the same with Silversea from 5 June around Norway on Dawn; as well as a higher grade bottle of champagne. That’s it. Timing is perfect for us and we’re very happy. We’ll be more closely considering Silversea for 2025 and 26 with the additional loyalty booking discount.

I have a cruise booked for Oct 2024& Nov 2025. Which had  been booked before the match status started so I have been informed that my new 250 day( previously 100+) will not apply to these bookings & only on new ones ..

If you haven't sailed into the Pool of London under Tower Bridge before, you're in for a treat. Should be the highlight of the cruise.

Spent Saturday night at the shard for evening dinner ..what a fantastic view looking out at the tower & st Paul's

    Enjoy..

It does seem like we will be on when you board since we get off in Athens on November 5.

we will spend a few days in London before going to Southampton.  I haven’t been to London since 1975 although I did spend time in Southampton in 1979 when my father was recovering at Royal South Hants Hospital.  Haven’t been to Bath since 1956!  It will be interesting to see the changes.

We get on the spirit in Venice on I think the 25th Oct & finish in Athens on the 5th November..so yes I think that's the one..well I will be with my dear husband, sister & brother in-law & brother & sister in law & best friends from Ireland.. ( my sister has just got off the spirit few days ago).. they enjoyed it.

I can't believe it.. I've seen your comments on this board for ages & I'm going to meet you... Can I ask what you mean by your test results.??.. also my brother is a good table tennis player so watch out .. !! Also I was born in 1956 when you came to Bath 😂.. look forward to meeting you both.. Victoria &bob .. hope you enjoy a good time 😊

Ohhhh.....that is not the email I used.....and it has been a while....I am good right now. Thanks for that clarification though.

Hi Lois .. long time.. hope you are still enjoying cruising..I do follow your adventures..I know you are going to try ( you have cruised other lines before) a different line .. let me know how it goes ... Been with silversea since 2005

.,,& can't seem to break away 😞.. started cruising in 1989.. with rccl... So I'm back where I started 😂...

LVSHACK - we will be on board the Spirit.  Getting on in Southampton and off in Athens.    We are Bob and Victoria.  I will be at the ping pong table on deck 10, and he will be in the gym.  I hope our paths do cross.  Just got my tests results today and was pleased with the number.  I hope you continue to regain your strength.

Hi emtbsam .. thank you for your message.. when do you board in Southampton..we live close by.. we board in Venice and finish in Athens.. could it be the same one ??. Venice 25th Oct ??...

Looks like a few of us are confused.  I didn't explain my thing very well.  When I looked on the cooler, the last post showing said 19998, so I put one on which did not appear, so I did it again - t and they appeared, on my screen, with number  19976.  I can now see that that was one I posted earlier.

So maybe the numbers are all wrong anyway, and it does not matter at all!  Which indeed is the case of course.  Like your age, it is just a number.

Have you been 🍷😂.. dear Lola.. hi coolers not been on for a while.. I had a stem cell transplant ( 2nd one in 10 years )in Jan & making good progress.. thin but bold 🤣.. can't have it all . always look in on the cooler .. some names I remember from the earlier days are not so much now on here .. I know I shouldn't be commenting about sailing etc but there is a lot of negativity about my favourite cruise line at the moment.. did a cruise last oct on the moon & it was fabulous. Next cruise Oct this year on the ( my favourite) silver spirit... Lola /Davey Wavey ( will come and visit your hotel )... anyway lovely to be back on board 😜

I think I started this topic again with my blue blazer comment. , it rears up every few months or so, I usually don't stick my 2 cents in but I will here.  I am very much in favor of the aspect of the dress code that requires men to wear a jacket in the main dining room.  One of the main reasons I travel SS is their ships seem so civilized and civilization is so lacking these days in most places. The same reason I don't travel Carnival or those other party barges.   SS is like a small fantasy world, elegant. I don't want it ruined by somebody in a sleeveless shirt and cargos shorts, sitting with a can of Bud being loud at the table next to me in the MDR.

I go farther than that.  I like formal nights, they are one of the few times each year I get to play dress up, I go all the way with pleated shirt, stripped pants, patent leather shoes, studs, bow tie etc. One restriction to this was luggage space, but since I resolved 2 years ago never to fly economy again, the carriers are much more liberal with poundage so I can pack all in 2 bags even for 30+day cruises.

I don' think there is a great divide, yet, among Silversea passengers, most of whom favor some sort of dress code, nor do I think there will be..  Let us hope, or we may reach to the point where SS is running spring break cruises out of Miami with 500 drunk college kids.   😃

    Couldn't agree more.. 👍🥂

Rumor mill- I just saw on another website that all the classic ships will change the dress code in 2024 to the current Nova dress code.

Can't believe this conversation is still going on ... 😂.. oh way do people get so tied up in what yi wear for dinner on a cruise ... As I said before what ever the dress code will be my husband and I will continue to dress 👗 for dinner and would rather be over dressed then under anytime..but that's just us... Sending you all  best wishes for a merry Christmas and happy new year.. I'm going to have a stem cell transplant in mid January so pjs will be my dress code for several months but I can do casual 😉..

Hello coolers....to those of you interested, I had my stent removed yesterday.....it was much easier than I expected.  No pain or any discomfort. Dr said it all went well. I didn't even know what a stent looked like (he showed it to me ).

Seems I have another stone forming and the Dr wants to be pro-active and get it out before it becomes an issue😮..........I will see about it in the next couple of months.

Anyway, I appreciate all of your kind postings.

Hi Lois . I've not posted for a while but hope you are your way to a good recovery.. follow your cruise critic postings often .. wishing you a merry Christmas 😂 and happy new year...

  21. No such thing as a casual night for us ( we'll maybe my husband) yes I do have a little black ( big ) dress ... Just dress how you feel .. we prefer to dress for dinner, I know it's not everyone choice but we never feel out of place being dressed & we continue to dress how we want to & continue to cruise silversea in which ever way the dress code goes 😂..merry Christmas 🎄.. to all far & wide

Preparing for 35 hours of travel this weekend... We leave Zambia tomorrow at 13:25 and arrive in Albany on Sunday at 17:30. Four flights. Seven hours of time change. Who planned this insanity?

I managed to get us checked in for all four flights so there is a slim chance that we can take advantage of the interline agreement between Airlink, Air France, and Delta. If this works we will check our bags once, in Livingstone, and collect them in Albany. We'll see how that goes...

Zambia has been a treat. We're staying at a lodge about 20 minutes out of town. Gorgeous setting on the Zambezi River. A fabulous room with every amenity you could want. And delicious food. They feed you so much here!

Yesterday we went to Livingstone Island and swam in Devil's Pool. It was an experience. We loved it. It's a long way down!

Today we visited Zimbabwe to see the falls from that side. Great views and we got plenty wet despite the low water levels.
