That's a shame, but true to form for many of us.  We take for granted what our lovely cities have to offer, thinking we can always go there.  But we visitors do appreciate these offerings...tourists have maybe one shot at this so take whatever memories we can with us.

I was booked on a Sept. '21 New England/Canada cruise. Despite living in Boston, I've never been east of Toronto in Canada. I was really looking forward to Halifax (especially given the connection between Boston and Halifax) and Quebec City.

I do understand why Canada would do this...just sad that I won't be cruising this September. 😢

    As per  local newsfeed:

"The U.S. mask order for travel being implemented by Biden will apply to airports and planes, ships, intercity buses, trains and public transportation. Travelers from abroad must furnish a negative COVID-19 test before departing for the U.S. and quarantine upon arrival. Biden has already mandated masks on federal property.

Although airlines, Amtrak and other transport providers now require masks, Biden’s order makes it a federal mandate, leaving little wiggle room for passengers tempted to argue about their rights. ....."

Guess we'll be  cruising with our masks from US Ports..until lifted or revised????

While I appreciate the newsfeed writer's optimism, I'm sure this isn't going to stop people who want to argue about their "rights" to not wear a mask.

How easy do you think it will be to get into their website to sign up?

Based on the past webinar sign-ups, it'll be easy if you're one of the first to get the email and immediately go and sign up. If you're not one of the first, then very difficult...I think all the spots for the last webinar filled in less than 15 minutes.

  4.

Just received an email stating that email invite and registration for the next "virtual loyalty event" will start tomorrow at 3pm Eastern.

    Dear EvoUSA,

We’re thrilled to share that our next virtual loyalty event hosted by President & CEO, Lisa Lutoff-Perlo will be announced tomorrow! You will receive an invitation via email at 3pm EST with all the details including where and when we’ll be virtually traveling and who will be joining us. And there will be Power Up Points involved too, of course. These events fill up quickly and space is limited so make sure to register right away to reserve your spot.

    Sincerely,
    Andrea Shey

Does RCG report financials for specific brands? I've never seen anything other than speculation. Hard to definitely say what the true driving factor was without that info on hand.

The press release did say "[t]he sale of Azamara is not expected to have a material impact on Royal Caribbean Group's future financial results" which suggests there wasn't a significant net profit (or loss) from the line.

@Bruin Stevementioned this in the other Azamara sale thread, but it's also unclear what debt/liabilities Sycamore is assuming on the sale.

  6. While sad, especially since I can't imagine reciprocal statuses lasting, I think it can make sense given their brand positioning and immediate need for cash. The sale is supposed to go through pretty quickly.

This gives a lot more leeway to market Celebrity as anything between nicer mass-market/mega-ships (Royal Caribbean) and luxury (Silversea).

had trouble understanding LLP.  I'm a court reporter and think she could use a real time reporter to do closed captioning like you see on the news and on some sports events.  That's one of the things court reporters do.  It sounded like she was in an echo chamber and I missed much of what she said, whereas I could hear clearly the others.

I think she would have definitely benefited from a headset (or earbuds), and I agree live closed captioning would be helpful.

Overall, though, I enjoyed the webinar.

I'm confused by this one.  Do we fill in cruises we have already booked or are they asking for new ones?  i have no intention of booking anything else at the moment.

These two cruises are on my wish list as I hope they sail.

I think it ends up being pick any two cruises that are currently listed on the Celebrity website. Maybe they'll use it for gauging demand (or maybe targeted marketing?), but I don't think it's checking at all if you've already booked the cruises you indicated in the wish list.

I don't think it checks to see if you've even entered the correct ship and sail date.

  10. New activity today for 20 PUPs:

Browse our sailings and create your holiday wish list by telling us which cruises interest you the most. Choose your top two cruises and then click the “Make My Wish List” link below. Share the ships, sail dates and destinations with us by December 8th to earn 20 Power Up Points.

If they present the webinar via Zoom, there is a limit on attendees, which I believe is 100 people. I know that because one Sunday morning, our Church minister locked the ‘room’ when it reached 97. He said if he had left it open and 4 people had signed up, then we all could have been kicked out.

They're using GoToWebinar, although like Zoom or other platforms, the maximum number of participants varies depending on the plan paid for (the more expensive, the more participants).

It looks like GoToWebinar maxes out at 3,000 (Zoom maxes out at 10,000).

  12. I registered within nine minutes of receiving the email (based on the email timestamp). It took me a minute to look up my CC number.

Given the apparently limited registration, this favored people on the East Coast.

If they're worried or constrained by tech issues for registration volume, could they consider adding another webinar session (they wouldn't have to give the CC points twice)?

Has anyone ever been a member of a Loyalty program that has not reduced benefits?    The airline programs are always increasing the mileage needed for upgrades or free flights.   I also remember when there were no loyalty programs so I guess we will return to those times.   At least you will still get the benefits that come with certain room classes, Aqua and Suite.

Some of the airline and hotel ones have arguably improved due to the pandemic, although as a general trend, usually the benefits erode away with time (and/or there are higher thresholds to achieve the same benefits).

This morning I received an email from Celebrity, subject "New Captain's Club Enhancements are here".  Under "Programs", it says, "Recently we introduced Power Up Points that allows you to earn points from home. Now we've created an online hub where you can track those points, along with your tier, benefits, and more."  But when I clicked on "Learn More", I couldn't find this "hub".   I can find my tier, but that was always there.  I still can't see my PUP. Has anyone seen this so-called online hub?Nve created an online hub where you can track those points, along with your tier, benefits, and more.ow, we’ve created an online hub where you can track those points, along with your tier, benefits, and more. Now, we’ve created an online hub where you can track those points, along with your tier, benefits, and more.

Mine still looks exactly the same as it did last week, with no breakout of PUP points.

As more and more members start to sail with our Always Included package and have drinks included in their ticket, we’ll be introducing new events and benefits so stay tuned.

Especially since it seems they're suggesting they'll be encouraging people to partake (or further modifying the CC benefit).
