  1. Reflection has just rolled out its new production show, "Broken Strings." Celebrity has hit a home run on this production. The costuming, the staging, the singers and dancers, and most of all, the instrumentalists were extraordinary -- especially the strings. Not a show to be missed and certainly a welcome reprieve from the tired old shows that have been around for the past five years or so. A word of caution: Ignore the description in "Celebrity Today." It doesn't do the production justice.

  2. Ray's is the store we have been doing business with for the past 17 years. They have 2 stores in St. Maarten.

These stores are family owned and they genuinely care that you get the best, as they are looking to acquire clients for life and that is why we do not shop at DI.

Have to agree with Randy here. Been shopping there for 15 years and never been disappointed. Sales staff extremely knowledgeable and professional and never high pressure. Might suggest OP check out comments and reviews on Trip Advisor, too.

  3. Depending on where you are going, it is usually easy to find a BANK ATM when you land at the airport,or the ship stops at ports. They will offer the best interbank rate. That being said, if you just want a small amount for tips and incidentals, even though the rate on the ship will be not as good, it will not amount to a huge difference.

Generally true. One exception is the Rome Airport. Almost impossible to find an ATM machine in the arrivals area.

  4. I am a little (ok a lot) biased that my favorite Celebrity entertainer is Jordan Peterson, solo pianist and vocalist, on the Summit and Millennium. Although he is our son, we feel like he is very popular on the Celebrity ships he has been on.

Biased or not, you are right. He is as real talent. I talked to him several times and asked him to play "Last Date," an old Floyd Cramer song from 1961 and he said he wasn't familiar with it. Several days later I ran into him and he had it down perfectly. I enjoyed listening to him.

  5. Just returned from the Millennium and saw one of my favorite entertainers -- Mario d'Andrea -- and he was energetic and personable as ever. A couple of other entertainers that are the mainstay of Celebrity that I always enjoy seeing are Lindsay Hamilton and Brooks Aehron. Just curious to know other entertainers who are favorites of Celebrity cruisers (besides Perry Grant).

  6. I've been on the Millennium twice this year and will sail her again in January. There are some cosmetic issues (the jogging track, veranda rust buildup covered with layers of paint, etc.) but overall the ship is still in great shape after almost 15 years. Staterooms, public areas, corridors are well maintained. Don't know why anyone would avoid her.

  7. I think "tatty and worn" is a bit of an exaggeration. It's a hotel....a brand new hotel is just different than one that's a few years old. Some just like brand new everything....some like a bit of charm.

Agree. On Yokohama to Vancouver sailing in May I found the physical appearance ship to be fine. Public areas have been maintained exceptionally well. Pool deck and jogging track are worn with age but doesn't detract from the overall condition of the ship. The selling point for the Millennium for me is the service and the quality of the food. I also like the Rendezvous Lounge. It's a much better dancing venue than the reception area on the "S" class ships.

  8. One of our cruise critic members posted this for the May 10 Millennium sailing from Yokohama to Vancouver. I followed his instructions and used his recommended hotel, JAL City Hotel. His instructions were spot on.

In our case the luggage collection was on the left just after entering the hall. Again it might be different for the Millennium.

When we landed and went through customs, we got our luggage we went into the main part of the airport, lots of ATMs including Citibank At Information we stated we wanted the Narita Express to Yokohama and they sent us down the escalator to the Narita express ticket office right next to the post office. This is not the JR rail office where people go to book holidays.

We showed our passports and the young lady instantly showed us the 1500 yen tickets for foreigners. your seats are reserved right on the spot and as we said we were going to Yokohama we got seats in car number one. It was a bit of a walk along the platform as there are 16 cars You just put your ticket into the gate and remember to grab it as you step though. When the train gets to Tokyo it splits in two. The first 6 cars go to Yokohama the last six in another direction. No rush as our train left at 17:16 the trains run on time

At Yokohama Station we took an elevator down one level and passed through another gate and this time your used ticket is swallowed by the machine. We were now in the subway area and asked at info and they had us take an elevator down two levels to the Minoatomarai Line. tickets from the machine press in the right corner of the machine for English. Tickets are based on the number of stations and ours were 210 yen. This line starts at the Yokohama station so there is only one way to go. For the JAL hotel get off at the fourth station Nihon- odori exit at gate 3 and walk two short blocks right and one short block right again. Takes less than two minutes.

The hotel was fine although the room was extremely small. We had to place one piece of our luggage in the bathroom. The rate was less than $80, including all taxes and service charges. They offer a moderately-priced buffet breakfast but it is geared more to the Japanese traveler. We opted for Egg McMuffins at a nearby McDonalds. Exit the hotel to the right and you can walk to the cruise terminal in less than 10 minutes.

    Hope this is helpful.

  9. My pet peeve has always been people who wish to quote another poster without removing some of the info such as a picture. Five people in a row posting the same very large photo is a slow process, the same for those with long signatures posting several times a day...

Please edit the quote and turn off your long brag sheet about all the cruises you have completed or will be taking over the next two years if you are posting again and again on the same day... Just check the appropriate box when posting...

I've stopped adding a signature and our future cruise calendar as well as turning off looking at others because posts just load so much quicker.

These are comments that I have made before and did it ever raise a firestorm by those who either don't understand posting speed or really wanted to impress others with their past or future cruises.

    (Off the soapbox now) ;)

Absolutely agree. There comes a time when there's simply too much minutiae to scroll through to find useful information. Past and upcoming cruise information and countdown clocks are not useful and distracting.
