  1. We are booked on Whisper out of FLL immediately after the Thanksgiving cruise (12/02, FLL-FLL, 15 day) and haven’t heard anything regarding a change.  As it stands now, Florida’s ban on vax mandates for cruise lines was halted by a judge.  I suspect that since Disney Cruise Lines is now requiring vaccines to board, Florida will not push back (Disney has enormous power there.)

Hi folks.......I was just reading about the Millennium cruise from a person who was posting "live".

They are back in St Martin today.  **An update on the 2 passengers who tested positive.  They were moved to a cabin on deck 2 and a plane was chartered by Celebrity to bring them back to the US.

Here is a quote from the post as well....... in the end he felt like the cruise line did a very good job.

"There were about 20 other people who were placed on precautionary quarantine for about 12 hours pending the results of the PCR test. Celebrity gave those people, specialty dinners, free movies and streaming internet. They remained in their cabins. The contact tracing was effective and ranged from people who took shore excursions with the two positive guests, down to people who sat immediately next to them at the bar and had physical contact".

His final thoughts were, with a total of about 1000---guests and crew total, he thought they did a good job.

That’s good news.  Being a general skeptic regarding these things, the whole world is watching this so I’m going to assume much of this is as much PR as genuine protocol. That said, I’m pleased to see the ideal reaction to the circumstance has been instituted.

Hi, I think Silversea knows its demographic and will not be changing the procedures they have in place.

Even though SS is now part of Royal, I  would think they will keep the policies in place.  Actually, I would be quite surprised if they lax up on them.

My concern is less that we get sick (we are fully dosed) but rather that someone unvaxed gets ill, forcing us into quarantine, limiting ports, cutting short the cruise, and all the other attendant complications.

Hi friends😃 finally getting ready to book a cruise Downunder!  Looking at January 2023 and just wondering from any of you who have been what information you might pass on to me?🙂  Australia and New Zealand have been on my bucket list for a very, very long time. And by then, hoping everything will be in a "new normal" stage too.

Hoping I can get some good tips from from you good people😃

    Thank you!

Congratulations.  Sounds delightful. On our list as well 🙂

All immune responses are different. The facts one person has side effects and another doesn’t - doesn’t mean the person with side effects is building up a stronger defense. It merely means people react differently to vaccines.

True, they are, but the reaction post-vax, particularly to the second dose, is an indication of a strong immune response.

    per UC Davis:

”It is normal to have a stronger reaction after the second dose because that's when your immune system really kicks into gear. That big immune response is what causes the stronger reaction. It's called a boosting phenomenon, and it builds an even greater ability to defeat COVID-19. Here's how it works:

When you get the first dose, your body learns to make antibodies to fight COVID-19. Then you get the second vaccine, and you already have the antibodies ready to go, so that shot kicks them into action. That more robust immune response accounts for the stronger reactions. Those reactions tell you the vaccine is working.

Although stronger reactions after the second dose are common, experts say some people may have little or no reaction.”

    Privacy rights are huge, though....

They are, but there are any number of countries where proof of vaccinations are required in order to enter.  Adding one more vax to the list doesn’t feel particularly egregious to me.

The good News is that on Monday, the night sweats were finally over.  The shivers ended on Saturday.  Thanks all, feeling much better now!  Side effects lasted almost 7 days, the worst over in 4 days then just the night sweats...... Glad that is done!

But now you’re bulletproof lol, sweaty, but bulletproof

glad to hear you’re feeling better

I hope this is all worth it, I have been sick since getting my 2nd Moderna shot, more than a few days now.....ICK.

     hoping to feel better soon!

I’m sorry to hear that.  Hoping you are feeling better soon.
If it helps you at all, my wife (doctorate in pharmacology) points out that post-vax illness is a great sign your immune system is mounting a strong response and the vax is having a good effect.

I was fortunate - I had my 2nd Pfizer three weeks ago and felt fine after both.  My 16 year old son, however, felt poorly for a day after his 2nd dose, and my wife, who got her second back in January, was absolutely as sick as I’ve ever seen her for 24 hrs after. But as she said, “If that was a taste of Covid, I want nothing to do with an actual infection.”

Additionally, I have a good friend who was both sick with Covid last year, and just recently got his vaccination, which left him feeling cruddy for a couple of days.
His only comment was, “Well, now I’ve had Covid AND the vaccine - trust me, you want the vax.”

My sister says that you can already buy fake CDC vaccination cards over the internet...

It’s probably low risk of getting caught, but the penalty for forging or falsifying a Federal document is stiff - up to 20 years.  Much easier to just get the jab.
I got my 2nd this morning.

  10. My wife and I have 3 kids, all of whom are in their teens now.  When they were 3, 5, and 7 we took them on on a Disney cruise.  The thought was we would do it once and it would be fun.  But the whole family enjoyed it and it became a regular feature in our lives - Panama Canal, Alaska, etc. Although it was Disney we appreciated the (relative) smallness smallness of the ships, and the attention to detail and service they offered. We never bothered to venture outside Disney to NCL or Carnival or RCCL, though there were times the kids might have voted to try.

Our kids are older now 16, 14 and 12.  They are stretching their feathers and “we” are lower on their social priorities.  After a decade and a half of totally dedicated parenting my wife and I want an “us” again, knowing full well it will soon be the standard. Cruising was comfortable for a number years, but we want something quieter, more reflective, than other options out there.  So we are sampling the “luxury lines” to see which one catches our fancy.  To that end our first cruise sans offspring is upcoming on Silversea.
