How is it going on the SKY?  Someone reported they read on FB there are 100 people in quarantine.

I do not have a FB account so can not research.  I hope you are staying well.

ETA:  I believe you are disembarking today.

On fb just now- Mike in Sky- some internet but it is suppose to improve tomorrow. Rachel’s parent on-board told her 650 positive this morning crew & passengers.
just sharing what I read—-/ do not know first-hand. Sorry.

also they will not have to test & quarantine to disembark in Southampton, Monday

  2. That same letter is alerting passengers to the same issues on the Sky, Grand , Majestic& Ruby  right now.  Covid is on the spread. Sky, passenger mike on fb posted they got letter over 100 in quarantine now as they approach Southampton March 28 th.

Why is it taking so long for them to let you know where you are going? You would need to cancel your hotel reservation for tomorrow, as well.

We are heading out next week, and are going knowing that we may be away for an extended time, after our cruise, should we get Covid.
I think everyone should also plan for those extra days as a back up. I do think Princess has been upfront about what happens if you get it. I’m sorry about your pet care, I’m sure something will work out for you.

in writing Princess lays out a reasonable plan.

however we are hearing from actual people who are being mistreated or it seems forgotten.
No one wants to spread the virus, but there’s a breaking point.

    I am leaving thread.
no excuse for way this couple has had to deal with filthy toilet, waiting so long for food and drinks

If they do, wouldn't they have to be red?  Since then it's a spreading situation?  Kind of rhetorical question since none of us knows today.... well on this thread anyway.

Let me say-  in the UK news today, positive Covid cases are up one million over the past week.

no restrictions there where Princess will be sailing out of starting Monday. Yes, the ship requires Covid test, but Uk no longer require testing nor quarantine. Covid positive cases are walking around freely to spread virus .

in this case, on the Ruby, lack of food and water, service while in a quarantine cabin can lead some to go in to a diabetic coma.

    which would you choose?

This was our experience on the Sky in November. The clerk in the store called and reported a customer had just purchased Tums and said someone should follow up with the customer. I assume she contacted the medical department but obviously I don’t know this for sure.

Crew possibly are told to report contact.

  6. So 12:30- 8:00 pm to get your lunch soda delivered in discusting quarantine room.  Please make sure you document this.
I have read about this situation in Ft Lauderdale, CA.  They have a couple of hotels they will take you to or if you can find better they will pay a portion of the cost, & an allowance for meals you will have to order in.
atleast you are off the ship in the morning something to look forward to.
Do not put up with them putting you in a van/ bus of crowded positive Covid passengers.  Let us know how you are doing.

Not locked in, but I’m about to put on a mask and see how far I can get towards getting some soft drinks and ice for our sore throats. Been trying to order dinner for an hour but all the lines they gave us are busy all the time

Exactly what I would do!  Let us know if they even notice you’re OuT.
I am not willing to put up with this. They must have more in quarantine then any are guessing n this cruise.

Yes as long as it’s not in bottles or an open can/carton as stated in the Passage Contract.

    • Guests are also prohibited from bringing water, sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages on board that are packaged in bottles. A small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice, milk) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought on board on embarkation day, only if carried on in Guests’ hand luggage (not in checked luggage). A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less per person.  Guests will be asked to discard open beverages in plastic containers prior to boarding.

    How stingy can they get?

Some people prefer brands the ship doesn’t sell.

this was one reason we don’t sail with Norwegian!

Can’t order food or drink from the app in quarantine area. Ordered 2 cokes with our lunch than never arrived and called to reorder. It’s now several hours after lunch without getting the soft drinks.

now all the call numbers they gave us just ring busy.

yea, I’m a whiner when I’m sick and thirsty for something cold in my sore throat

    i would be Iivid!!!

are you locked in that quarantine cabin?

They are putting your health at risk!!

I have looked and cannot seem to find an answer to my question on a coffee card.  Does anyone know if a blended coffee drink (frappe.) requires one punch or two punches off the 15 punch coffee card?  On Royal Caribbean a blended coffee drink required 2 punches.  For a 7 day cruise that was fine, but we are booked on the July 7th 16 day Hawaii cruise and I'm trying to figure out if I'll need to get two punch cards or if one will be the perfect amount.

Confused here. I just paid for the 15 Specialty Coffee package.  I did not see a coffee card offered.

There are 3 options on that page.

Okay, got it to work by deleting the regular time I had for MDR.  Then it gave me specialty option. Didn’t even have to put in credit card- it already had it and gobbled up my payment!

This was a long post.  I read to the end because I felt somewhat invested mid way.

Make reservations onboard and move on.  It's a desire not a necessity to make reservations beforehand.  If prices were dynamic and more expensive onboard like some cruise lines,  this would make more sense.  Why start a vacation off frustrated with something that you cannot control?   There has to be better way to spend your time.

    Good advice.

where can I book online for Crown Grill?  I am not getting a freebie and want to pay with my credit card. I use to reserve in the Personalizer on my computer. It tells me to do it on the App, which is working extremely well for me. I am in the Green Lane.
I reserved and paid for my internet on the App.  I booked my night they dining times & got all my choices.

I just can’t find the Specialty dining options on the App. Any help?

I didn't realize the OP was from Vancouver or sailing from Vancouver.  Earlier posts led me to believe she is in the States and I thought cruises haven't started out of Canada yet.

@claudia814 Sorry If my post wasn't helpful.  Enjoy your cruise!

OP- is US. But people are still getting confused thinking all cruises have same requirements.

  14. My heart goes out to you & your wife.  I am completely in agreement with you about restrictions being lifted.  We take this as a good warning for our upcoming cruise.  I’d rather limit myself to places I feel safe had 5 cancellations so far, so will take extra precautions.

    From the Princess website (https://www.princess.com/plan/cruise-with-confidence/cruise-health/frequently-asked-questions/us-cruises/😞

    Vaccination Status

    CDC Definition

    Pre-Travel Test-Type

When to Take Test Before Boarding

    Fully Vaccinated

Received primary series of COVID-19 vaccines with final dose at least 14 days before embarkation

    Antigen

    Within 2 days

    PCR

    Antigen

    PCR

These charts do not help those sailing from Vancouver.  Canada changed requirements for COVID testing but, Princess has Not published their requirements yet for this port of embarkation.

Just want to make sure the CVS Minute Clinic’s Rapid Result Antigen test is accepted by Princess. I’m Up-to-Date and will test on Wednesday for a Saturday cruise. Thank you very much for your responses.

    Just now, AVCruzers said:

If not mistaken, you need to test within 2 days so you need to test by at least Thursday for a Sat. embarkation.

It really depends on where you are embarking  to start your cruise. Testing time line requirements vary by port, country and are constantly changing

I bought 2 self test kits to take with me to take the day before my cruise.  Some are saying 3 days, some say 3 days.

Not sure if they would pay for a rental car or not. Those are really pricy right now and I’m not feeling well enough to drive to Colorado.

im getting worse now and can’t hear anything but ringing. Going to see if doctor can give me something for high anxiety. Been taking Zyrtec all along to prevent allergies.

hindsight is so 20/20. No wonder I haven’t felt like drinking since Costa Rica

Take this seriously. See the doctor. Speaking from family experience here.

there has been mention of this sailing on Fb- one couple having great time. Slight mention of captain announcement but not much.

    please take care.

The OP said as quoted below:

"I sure wish they wouldn’t have dropped the PCR test before embarkation and testing 2 days before the Panama Canal."

I was surprised that there was no testing before embarkation.

    I don’t quite understand that.

is the Covid antigen test required for all sailings for Princess at embarkation?
