  1. I noticed another poster had the experience where the Wake and Stretch class was followed by the ABS Workout class. That was not my experience as only one was offered each sea day and they alternated. But of course on different ships at different times with different instructors, that's what you get, differences.

Now, to answer your question, that's an absolute YES. They were very helpful. I typically followed the class with a three to five mile fast walk, then came the well-deserved nap on the balcony.

When you're on the ship for a long cruise, this must be done so you can fit through the doors when you finally disembark.

Looking forward to the well-deserved nap on the balcony....and yes...I do want to fit in the airline seat on the way home! lol :o

the hard part will be getting up that early...:(

  2. With my DH recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, we are now on a bit of a fitness kick....my question is this: I know we can use the fitness centre at any time during the open hours, but is there an extra charge for the zumba and yoga classes? Does anyone else know of any other classes that are offered on board? We are on the Caribbean Princess for 2 weeks!:p

  3. Has anyone had problems with pre-paying shore excursions and then to have them cancelled through the cruise line? I'm pretty sure that won't happen, but if it did, was it easy to get a credit back on your credit card? I was thinking of pre-paying, and we are travelling for 3 weeks after the cruise, and don't want a huge credit card bill when we get home.

  4. I always leave things to the professionals! If anything goes wrong, they are responsible...TA had a flight booked for my daughter after our cruise this coming may, I had ok'ed it, and then realized that it didn't leave enough time for her to get to the airport (less than 7 hours after disembarkation) which was the optimum time given from the cruise personalizer. The TA realized she made the error, and changed the flight, and also ate the $300 charge for the change.:p

It doesn't cost anything extra, and they sometimes know of specials, etc, that you or I cannot get!

  5. I think it was from the personalizer..can't remember. It could have been just the port that I was looking at.....did not book it....but wanted to...that's when I discovered it was no longer there....I could do the excursion in French although I wouldn't understand a thing!;)

  6. Heading out to the Med on the Caribbean Princess in May. I printed all the shore excursions so I could do some research on them. When I logged onto the Cruise Personalizer, the excursion that I had picked is not showing up? :(

Does that mean it's been cancelled or perhaps full already? I couldn't find anything on their website!

  7. Hi all,

I need to eat a heart healthy low cholesterol diet and was just wondering.....are the menus on the Caribbean Princess marked with heart healthy options? I have seen older menus from 2012, but they only denote vegetarian options. Also does anyone know if they offer eggbeaters as an alternative?

    Thanks in advance!

OMG....I just realized that I hijacked your thread...so sorry about that....:(

  8. Great thread.....and just in time!

My DH was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. does anyone know if they have specialty items for that? and we have chosen anytime dining....so we just have to mention our cabin number when we are seated? (providing we let them know ahead of time on the cruise personalizer?) We've never had to have dietary restrictions on a cruise before... :(

  9. thank you ALL soo much for your imput....I had a panic ridden few hours.:(

...called my TA and told her about the situation.......she didn't even realize how tight the time was. She called Air Canada and it would be a $300 charge to change flights....I mentioned to her that's why I went through a TA.....they are the professionals! So daughter is now booked on a 4:15 departure and the TA is eating the difference! She did apologize and stated that she should have known better.....

thanks again, and another testament to this great CC site!:D

  10. I was thinking we are going to put her on a Princess Transfer....just easiest....will take her directly there. I think I am going to phone our TA and see what can be done. Her flight at 11:30 is actually the latest for her to take, so if we change her flight, it would have to be the next day and she would have to overnight it in the airport (which she is fine with....have slept in many airports in my time....) she is flying direct to Calgary.

(I cannot find any hotel info right at the airport...just surrounding areas...) Now I'm getting worried!! lol:eek:

  11. :(Just completed the Cruise Personalizer, and they are stating that you should not have a flight any earlier than 7 hours after docking in Southhampton. We are sending my 21 yr old daughter home on her own (Mom and Dad get to stay longer!) and her flight leaves at 11:30 am.....Even if she is the first one off the ship. at 7 am...could she make it? Our TA never mentioned anything when we booked the flight.:(

  12. To pack the pods, put them inside a paper towel roll, then put the roll in a ziplock. Bend in the ends of the cardboard tube a bit to make it fit. Zip and roll up extra bag. Wrap dryer sheets around the roll. Put in a second ziplock. Zip and roll up the extra. Takes up barely any space.

:DThat's a great idea! I was taking a container also, but I like the paper towel roll better. 3 of us on a 2 week Europe Cruise, then 2 of us exploring for another 3 weeks after. I will need to do a few loads of laundry for sure!:o

  13. We cruised years ago with another couple and we each had two kids. We kept our beds as twins, and they pivoted their queen bed so the head of the bead was right under the pull down tucked into the corner.

(does that make sense?) It gave a bit more room and seemed to work for them. (although I'm not too sure their cabin steward liked making the bed every morning!!):o

  14. I did ask a similar question last week, but just digging for more info.:o

We are booked on the Caribbean Princess in May (Med. Cruise) and have booked into D217 which I know is an uncovered balcony. My TA just phoned and said we could move to Emerald Deck mini suite with covered balcony, at the rear of the ship. I have read that there is some noise from the nightclub below, and was also wondering about movement of the ship being that far back. Is there a lot of movement in the Med at that time of year? We usually stay in the middle to reduce movement.

I prefer a covered balcony in case of inclement weather, and (I know not many but the odd looky loo) from above. Anyone have any opinion on this? I have to call my TA tomorrow morning with our decision.

    Thanks for the input.....so undecided....

  15. We had an uncovered balcony for the first time on a recent 3 day LA to Ensenada trip. It was our first time in a mini suite and the only rooms left had uncovered balconies. The balcony areas were busy during sail away and throughout the first night, but after that it was very quiet. It was almost as private as being in a covered balcony. However, I would hesitate to book an uncovered balcony again. I think someone in a cabin higher than us had a bit too much to drink or eat in Ensenada. I stepped onto the balcony the next morning and immediately stepped back inside. Little chunks of food were scattered around the blue floor covering. Yuck. I'm sticking to covered balconies in the future.

well....now there's a vision. that you cannot 'unsee' once seen.. never thought of that...although you know it came from whom ever is in line above you. ick oh well....we will stick with our uncovered....although now I am thinking of contacting our TA to see if we could find another cabin maybe....

  16. I am, by no means, a seasoned cruiser (booked #6 last week) and I have been on 2 NCL and this upcoming cruise will be my 2nd Princess. I liked Princess a bit better, although that could have been the difference between a ship that is a bit more 'run down' and older than another. Our cabin on the NCL Star was very worn and tired looking.

Princess wasn't that tired looking (on the Golden 3 years ago...) and I loved the deck plans. The aft pool was my favourite place during a 2 week Hawaiian cruise....and not too many people went there.

now I know price and itinerary are a big thing, and this is something so minor....:p

but I LOVED the MUTS (Movies Under the Stars):p I am not a party going type, and that was a perfect way to end a busy day! Watching a movie, cozy under a warm blanket, having popcorn, and then getting served cookies and milk! (did I mention I'm not a party animal....zzzzzzz)

Anyway, I don't think you can go wrong on either, but at least try Princess so you can see for yourself!!

  17. Just booked 2 weeks on the Caribbean Princess in May heading to the Mediterranean! Can't wait!!:p

We have booked mini suite D217..and I think by looking at some photos that the balcony is not covered.....any thoughts? Can other balconies above look down on you?

Also, does anyone know what is playing on MUTS? This will be my 21 year old daughter's first cruise on Princess (our second) and I yak all the time how nice the MUTS was and how much I enjoyed it (with popcorn and cookies!) Husband doesn't like going...so I went by myself last time :o

Also, I know they have changed the smoking policy to exclude balconies (I am a non smoker) but I hated walking to the theatre in the evenings having to go through the smoke filled casino. Do they still allow smoking there?

    Thanks for the info!!:D
