Yeah agree with kalos, they seem to have the wrong business model for this. Should be free to use and they make money on referrals thru bookings made by their links, nobody is going to pay upfront for a service like this.

Travelled from Carlisle last year with intercruises, left at 5am arrived about 1230, there was 3 stops on the way of about 30 minutes each. Best bit was upon arrival was ushered straight to check in, did not have to queue outside, was on the Ship about 20 minutes after arrival.
Coach was comfortable.
Doing it again at the end of this month.

iPhone doesn't allow you to share a Wi-Fi connection, only a cellular connection via hotspot. Android does allow Wi-Fi sharing, although I don't know if its model restricted.

No difference in service or even what you do to order a drink, still need to hand over cruise card, whether you have drinks package or not.

Don't see how it can be a happy thread when you've set it up as an adversarial one with a big vs small bent. That's just setting up for people to post why their choice is better than the other choice.
They are just cruise ships with varied dining, entertainment, shopping, etc options. All cruise ships are different. I don't see the need to make the distinction, you choose the ship that meets your needs and desires, whether that ends up being big or small (which I don't even know what the definition of that is) what does it matter, as long as you personally are happy with your choice.

Or it could go the same way as hotels. A few yeas back hotels were charging £10 a day for Wi-Fi - now the vast majority include it.
Cruise lines I suspect will include a basic Wi-Fi connection but to have anything resembling a reasonable connection there will be a charge.
Hotels likely dropped the charge because nobody was paying for it, when everybody had cheap internet access on their phones. Cruise lines unfortunately don't have the same pressure so unlikely to drop price or even provide a free basic connection, they don't need to, they have a captive audience to milk.

Enjoy the cruise, hope you get the same weather as we did last year!
I spoke briefly to you in the YC pool deck last year in the burning sun, I was the solo.

Its supposed to be the browse package but on my last two YC sailings (Grandiosa around Med and Virtuosa to Norway) I have used streaming services like youtube. so YMMV. I have not tried things like Netflix or Disney+ etc which may be the things they actually block for streaming and they ignore youtube/twitch/tik tok.
-
Yes ignore that for YC, its a computer assigned one and doesn't apply to YC

Virtuosa I think only homeports in Southampton during the summer (April to September).
As I said it basically switches to GBP when the only embarkation point during the cruise is Southampton and so they expect the majority of guests to be British.

Thanks for the clarification. As mentioned, we did 2 recent cruises in the span of 6 months that stopped at Southampton (one out of Le Havre and another out of Copenhagen) and we were billed in Euro. But it sounds as if they bill differently if the embarkation point is Southampton.
Just to be clear its not necessarily because of embarkation in Southampton, it has to be the ship is homeported in Southampton for that season. Its a subtle difference. Usually when the Virtuosa is homeported in Southampton then the itineraries are usually with the only embarkation point as Southampton and the ship switches to servicing more British clientele (kettles in room, Sunday roast, entertainment etc).
So in your example it sounds like the ship wasn't homeported at Southampton, but it was just another embarking port so even embarking at Southampton would result in Euro billing.
-
Depends, if the ship is homeported in Southampton it will be pounds, if its not it will be euro's.
The Virtuosa for example is due to change over to homeporting in Southampton sometime this month, its currently in Euros but will change to GBP at some point in the next two or three visits to Southampton.

There's the actual rules
and then
The rules that MSC enforce
and then
The rules that some passengers would like them to be, which generally fall into two camps of either stricter/more formal and the opposite.

Within the cruise community by definition back to back is on the same ship.
Side to Side is if you swap ships.

Enjoying this live report, I shall be on Virtuosa in YC on 14th April.
4th time yacht club, 3rd time YC on Vrituosa.
Its making me wish I was going tomorrow.
Have they fixed that window in the Topsail Lounge yet ? Over to the starboard side?

The itinerary has just been changed to a second stop in Zeebruege instead of Le Havre, strange..
Its due to general strikes in France, the port isn't able to open AIUI.

On the msccruises.co.uk site it says:
Please note that All-Inclusive Beverage packages for Summer 2023 up to Summer 2024 cruises are detailed here below.
To know the details of Beverage packages for Winter 2022/23 cruises, please login your personal area.and then list the new max prices 14euros/16$, so I'm guessing there's some type of changeover period and if its classed as a winter cruise 2022/23 your on the old max price, if its classed as a summer cruise then your on the new.
Which date this change will actually occur I am unsure of. And its really bad if your on a cruise where they have increased the individual price of the drinks but your on the old package.

On a seven day sailing its different every night, they then repeat so if your on longer you will get the same shows.

I could be wrong but I thought the 2 devices were for the 1st 2 guests in the cabin...
Ah you could be right, never had more than 2 in cabin to test.

Yeah Hendricks with a slice of cucumber is sublime.

The list for the 'free' bottle of spirts/wine/champagne is not the full list of stock available. Its a limited selection.
So just because they may stock Aviation Gin, doesn't mean you will get it as the 'free' bottle for YC.
Controlling costs I assume. I also like Gin and ask for Tanqueray 10, which they stock but only get Bombay Sapphire as the bottle in the room.

That's what their website say's, nothing mentioned about wheelchair spaces in particular. Your probably best to call them and see exactly what they can provide, w.r.t. your requirements.
The map on the website does indicate Wooley edge as the pick up point for Barnsley
