my general advice for AK is figure out what you want to see and do in AK; find the ports that provide that, and then find the most economical ship that sails to those ports. We sailed on RCI and another poster mentioned Princess. If ship has nursery and kids club, and offers best price - book it and take any savings and out them towards excursions. One of my son’s favorites was visiting the dog sled puppies and taking helicopter up to glacier to ride on a dog sled.
PS: the advice about taking a cruise to Caribbean is also good at those ages. Check out one of the Oasis class ships and see how many things your young children would enjoy 😉
I've been hemming and hawing about the dog sled w/glacier helicopter ride for my Alaska cruise this summer with my kids (ages 7 and 11). Your comment may have tipped me over the edge to just book it!

Sounds like an amazing trip! In preparation for our first cruise as a family, I've taught my kids (ages 6 and 10) some card games likes Hearts and War that we can play together. Target has a some nice playing cards this holiday season from a company called Buffalo. My kids also like playing chess and we have a travel set. I'm hoping that's something we can do on board as well. Bon Voyage!

First time cruiser... Our first family cruise will be a 9 day Celebrity Equinox cruise booked for February and a 7 day RC Navigator of the Seas cruise for March 25. My kids are in 1st grade and 5th grade. I will report back!

I will be on Navigator of the Seas in April 2022...first time cruiser. I saw that there is an unlimited class pass available. How much is each class usually and are there enough classes offered during a 7 day cruise to get a class pass? Any experience/advice appreciated. Thank you!

New cruiser here...I'm trying to decide on whether to buy the Deluxe Beverage Package for my 7-day Navigator cruise in March. I noticed that the Unlimited Dining Package is currently around $175 per adult for the 7-day cruise and you get 40% off bottles of wine under $100. This looks like a good way to get a bottle of wine at meals and eat at the specialty restaurants for a relatively good price. With the deluxe beverage package you need to have 6-8 drinks a day...seems like a lot? Has anyone else tried this? Thanks!

Probably the best thing I've read on this forum! Thank you for the witty commentary about your cruise.
