Cancelling because of Covid was the reason given, not sure if real reason is not wanting 6-8 strangers in the Murano wine room, or don’t want to leave out galley tour or they are still getting everyone and everything organized and trained. Our butler did say that they were moving cabin stewards around and he didn’t know exactly who we would have until a little later in the afternoon. I’ve noticed a couple other extremely minor snafus, but kinda put it off to rusty , and all were addressed rapidly with a smile.

Ken, I might not book ahead, because I think we may have some issues getting credited, and I think it’s non-refundable OBC, so we have to spend before we leave.

Just so happy to be onboard!

Bon Voyage to you cangelmd and all the rest. Have a great cruise!

I was going to post pictures of the luggage/ customs lines but there weren’t any…. I didn’t stop moving… no need for global entry… did face recognition and boom done….fastest disembarkment ever!

Thanks for keeping us updated on your cruise. It was fun to read everyday. Have a safe journey home.

  3. I live in the FLL area (well just up the road a bit on the beach) and UBER has a big presence in the area. I'm sure you can get UBER from the FLL to your hotel a lot faster than a taxi and UBER is allowed in the port areas (or they were the last time I checked).

Thank you for taking time from your vacation to post all the beautiful pictures and answering so many questions.     I just have one for now.

Are they serving food at the buffet or self service.    I'm still concerned about multiple people touching serving spoons etc.   I don't even touch the street crossing buttons.

...or the elevator buttons. I'm with you Jim. It wouldn't bother me if the buffet is staff serve. We're on the 9/5 sailing.

So we now think that the cruiselines should accomodate, outside the terminal with lines and such, people arriving early when the guidance has specifically been, "come at your allotted check in time"?  SMH

We're cruising next weekend on the Edge.  Our check-in time is 12:30.  We plan to get to the port around noon.  If we have to wait outside for < 30 minutes, I'm ok with that.  If they can get me in and on board earlier, that would be awesome.

Outside Florida heat 95+ degrees right now. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long outside.

Usually those devices work with NFL and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) like the Ocean Medallion Princess Cruises uses.

RCI used to have such a system for locating kids on Oasis of the Seas but obviously it never really worked and it was dumped soon after it came in place.

WOW bands (or other wirstbands just opening the door or for onboard payment like those on MSC) do have an RFID chip inside like the cabin cards on newer ships (and that´s why the cabin card can´t be used for locate somebody as RFID needs a close contact - and no, there´s nothing like a WIFI Card - the card is way too thin to include WiFi or BLE).

MSC came with new wristbands last year which included BLE for locating passengers. But these had to be worn additionally to the regular RFID wristbands.

The Tracelets are pretty likely similar to Princess´ Ocean Medallion with BLE and NFC for locating passengers or just BLE.

I  agree. Princess uses these and they are waterproof and can be worn on the wrist or around your neck on a lanyard.
