Thanks. So it sounds like the YC Elevator comes down to 14 so that’s a good thing. I just didn’t want to go out to the main elevators to get back up to the other YC floors and then back in again. Its hard to tell by the deck plans.

    Thanks!!

we did deck 14 in November.  The internal YC elevators go from 14-19.

We are booked on the MSC Meraviglia for the July 9th 2023 cruise out of New York.   I have tried to find where to indicate that I want to receive promotions and possible upgrade offers. Would I receive an upgrade offer now for a cruise that is in July or does MSC wait until closer to the sail date to send out upgrade offers.  We have an interior Yayht club room and I am hoping to get a chance to bid on the numerous balcony and suite Yayht club rooms that are still available on our cruise.   My wife and I are celebrating our 30th anniversary on this cruise.

they will wait to see if they naturally sell out on their own.  You should find out in or around May time frame.

Hello Everyone ~ DH and I have sailed many of the major cruise lines and are thinking about trying out MSC.  Can someone talk about the difference between the regular experiences and the Yacht Club experience?  Just wondering if it's worth the price.  Not sure how we would utilize "butler" service.  Any thoughts are appreciated.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    Only you can determine worth.

We just went on our first MSC cruise on Oct 2, 2022 on MSC Divina out of Port Canaveral.  We are also Platinum on Carnival with our last sailing on them being the Mardi Gras in Oct 2021.  I will start out by saying this was a free cruise for us through the myVegas games.  We only paid $298 in port fees and taxes for the 2 of us (plus gratuities) using 1.5 million in our gold coin rewards and received an extra large balcony with 2 loungers in addition to the normal 2 chairs and stool (cabin 12220).  It was also the first sailing after the port opened up after Ian and the ship was at most 1/2 full.  While we get some pretty decent deals with Carnival through their casino packages this was the best deal we have had so far through any cruise line.  They even status matched our Platinum status to Gold on MSC.

Over all I would say the demographics were older on MSC with less of a party atmosphere than you sometimes find on Carnival depending on the cruise.  The dress code was the same.  They have a Captains Gala with free drinks that you no longer see on Carnival.  We were also invited to the past guest party since they status matched us to Gold.  I found the dancers and singers comparable to Carnival but the acrobatic acts they had were the best we have seen on a ship!  Better than the ones I have seen on NCL which I thought were good in the past.  The comedian and other shows like Love and Marriage were also comparable.  I thought the pizza on MSC and the buffet itself better than Carnival but I was getting tired of seeing the same items on the buffet by the end of the week.    I also thought meatloaf at the carving station was pretty strange.  I have never seen meatloaf on a carving station before anywhere.  I found the food in the MDR was comparable to Carnival.  They do have Surf and Turf on gala night with lobster and steak included.  I found the service also similar although they do make up the room 2 times a day instead of once a day that Carnival started doing.  We loved MSC's private island Ocean Cay.  Our cruise stayed there overnight so we had a light show from the light house that we could see from our balcony.  I liked this island much better that Half Moon Cay.  The casino was the smallest one I have ever seen on a ship.  We ended up breaking even at the Casino.  I normally come out a little ahead on Carnival but this was a free cruise!  I had no complaints!

    Well said.

LOL, MSC is a European skewed entry level cruise line attempting to gain foothold on this side of the pond.   Since I have sailed on MSC, RCI, NCL, Carnival, Celebrity and Princess I can make a comparison based on first hand experience.  The only comparison between MSC and Celebrity is the ship within a ship concept on many of their ships with the Yacht Club and the Retreat.  That's where the comparison ends, IMHO.

Never sailed Princess, no desire to.  Have sailed the others and they are all peers of each other.  Each has their plusses and minuses....... Celebrity is the same as the rest.... nothing special.

That's like asking why the Yacht Club sundeck is only for Yacht Club guests.

If you'd like the entire ship to be like the Yacht Club, look to the much smaller Explora Journeys ships (also owned by MSC).

doesn't seem fair that those who pay for amenities are the only folks who get to use those amenities......:-)

So very well said. And the two-fisted drinker (whatever that is, never heard the expression) comes off very insulting.

We are gladly trying MSC for the first time next year due in large part to the pricing and the desire for something different. But I certainly hope the cruise is NOT full of snobs or people that think they or MSC is better than everyone else. One of the reasons why I've stuck with Carnival is because people are certainly not snobby. I don't pay for vacation to be looked down on. I also know how to stay to myself and enjoy the family I'm travelling with. So we will see. There's something for everyone out there. And despite what people think, not every Carnival cruiser is a drunk looking to maximize Cheers.

MSC ppl are pretty normal.  The only thing different is there are more Europeans as they are familiar with MSC in Europe.  Welcome to MSC.

You actually think that MSC is not an entry level cruise line comparable to RCI, NCL and Carnival?  They are certainly not on the level of Celebrity, Princess and HAL,  let alone Viking. There are many from the states that have tried MSC and hate it, unless they have stayed in the YC.

We currently have a booking for July on the Meraviglia out of Brooklyn.  Our precious cruise on MSC was four years ago on the Seaside when she was brand new.  We got a great rate on an inside YC cabin since we would never pay what NCL wants for the Haven and we wanted to experience the ship within a ship concept.  Very nice experience, but the European skewed shows and no comedy club or piano bar was a letdown. We'll see how the Meraviglia is. Contemplating 14 days on the Seascape in the summer of 2024

lol on the level of Celebrity.  Celebrity and MSC are peers.  As well as NCL and Royal.

As someone who has all of my experience on MSC since the pandemic, I think I can speak from a recent viewpoint.  As you can see in my signature, I have sailed MSC Yacht Club five times.  My MSC cruise two weeks ago was in a regular Fantastica interior cabin.  I can tell you that there is no comparison between the two experiences. Yacht Club is like a completely different world than the regular cruises on MSC.  Having all the separate facilities, the escorted embarkation and disembarkation, the included drink and wifi packages, the unlimited access to the thermal spa, etc., etc. makes Yacht Club well worth the money IMHO.  That is the reason why I have five more Yacht Club cruises already booked in the next six months.

agreed.  You cannot beat the YC experience.  Ship within a ship.

Yes. Spoke with him at lunch today. He said he will be on the Meraviglia until March. Had a nice chat with him. Seems like a really nice guy.

He is a great guy..... He has a big yellow lab back at home, we spent the week swapping Lab stories.

Ahhh, another reason to go YC.  All are set up and available most of the day on their beach no extra charge.  Towels are already on the chair.

I think I am going to like my first time in YC in January.

I will just warn you, it is addictive....... I've been in therapy since mine.... all i can do is look for a low rate and book again.
