Currently on the Beyond deck 10 in a Magic Carpet Suite. We have been on over 30 cruises and I have never had a worst nights sleep than I did last night. The banging, loud popping and noise coming from appeared to be the ceiling was insane! If this continues we will be canceling our April cruise on the Beyond. After breakfast, I will let customer service know.

You should go to the Retreat Lounge and complain to the Retreat Manager there. They will first offer a room nearby that you can use for sleep (if the ship is not fully booked). But don't stop there. Keep complaining until they offer you at least some future cruise credits

  2. Hendricks, Tanqueray No Ten, Plymouth, Bombay Sapphire, Star of Bombay, Beefeater, Gordon's. Availability at Retreat Lounge Bar or Retreat Deck Bar depends on availability but if you find the right bartender, they will go find the bottle you like and keep it there.

Don't really drink Gin on the ship though. Whatever tonic water they use isn't very good

  3. We were in 8210 Sky Suite last December and the banging sound was so bad. Not only was the ship making creaking noise, it sounded like there were pipes loose and banging against one another within the wall. They sent people over and opened the wall and tried to tie things down within the wall, but the noise remained. My wife ended up sleeping in a room few doors down (that Celebrity offered) and that stateroom appeared to be fine without the noise. We ended up getting some future cruise credit and I remember the Retreat concierge preparing lots of envelopes with such credit because a lot of suite guests complained about the noise

  4. Am I correct in thinking that you can just buy 2 Device WiFi plan for one person and share that (vs. buying 1 device plan for both passengers in the cabin)? I understand we will have to share the login

Also, where are the rooms that they are giving you to sleep in?  Do you have keys to both rooms so you can leave stuff in the 2nd room?  Is your suite noisy during the day?

They offered us an infinite veranda room few doors down from our suite. You get extra keys for the other room so you can leave stuff and use it however you would want. Suite creaks during the day but not as noisy during the day. But I am mostly out and about around the ship during the day

  6. Anyone know how extra tip works with The Retreat Pool bar?

On Apex couple of weeks ago, they had a jar for tips so I assumed that tips were pooled. But on this Beyond, I don’t see any tip jar. If I hand couple of envelopes to couple of bartenders at the end of trip, do they pool the tip or will it go to that bartender only?

I have a few minutes while I wait for someone to finish in the bathroom 🙂  so I'll give a quick update on the creaking and noises that have been reported in previous sailings.

I am in one of the suites with noise issues. Constant creaking noise all night, but that's nothing compared to the banging noise within the walls all night long. Retreat concierge has list of more than 10+ suite rooms with similar issues and they told us that they will provide some kind of monetary compensation to the guests impacted. They are also offering alternative rooms for guests to sleep in and providing ear plugs. Every time I visit the retreat lounge, there's someone complaining about the noise....

  8. Depends on the ship. For example when I sailed Millennium last December, it was practically empty all the time. When I sailed Apex (3 times in the last 13 months), I wouldn't say impossible but very difficult at peak hours. Much easier in the afternoons and off peak hours. Generally, older ships, it's easier.

Celebrity bartenders will also make lots of mocktails. So you should be fine without drinking alcohol

We had a butler (not on X)  who said, "You can go to Guest Services to do that."  Uh no, that's why we pay to have a butler.

A not-so-great butler (and we had one on X) didn't appear at all from days 2-7 of a 10-day cruise.

I just had one on Apex who I saw on the first day and the night before the last day. None in between. When my wife asked for extra pillows on the first day, he was like, "You can call room attendant for that"

  10. Not all butlers are same. I've had a butler who thanked me on the last day for not being needy as some of the other suite guests. I've had butlers who went above and beyond, and would have been hurt if I didn't call him/her first if I needed something. It's YMMV

  11. I usually make my way across the different bars on the ship, find my go-to bartenders and then tip them a day before the last in an envelope. This would be in addition to any tips that I would write in on the receipt (if the price of the drink exceeds the threshold covered by the drink package)

Overall we found the suite experience less special even--or perhaps because--it's so hyped. The concierges (Paolo and Liz) didn't have much a personal touch and I highly doubt they ever knew our names; I only ever saw Liz on boarding day and this morning when departing. On other ships we've been invited to, say, musical performances or officers' meet and greets in the suite lounge but nothing this time whatsoever. Our butler (Dean) was extremely efficient and absolutely made sure everything we asked for was taken care of, but he was clearly super busy and was, I believe, covering twice as many rooms as usual. We often get to know a couple of staffers over the course of the week but that didn't really happen. Ultimately I think we may just prefer ships with fewer suites even if they lack some of the E-class amenities.

I don't know if it was the Thanksgiving week cruise, but I found the Retreat experience to be disappointing than the experience I had last year. I was on Apex twice last year when it was sailing with 1400-1800 passengers and service was amazing throughout the ship (not just The Retreat).

This past week, I thought the overall The Retreat experience on Apex was disappointing. There were few outstanding individuals (Prashant and Dinesh at the Retreat Pool Bar were amazing throughout the week; Luminae staff were outstanding as usual). But at the Retreat Lounge, experience was YMMV depending on who was working. Often times, they didn't even walk around and take drink orders. Outside The Retreat areas, staff seemed understaffed and tired. Less smiles. Few rude exchanges.

I am going to be on Beyond in couple of weeks so I get another chance at this assessment but if the experience is similar to this sailing, I really don't see booking another suite on Celebrity (especially with the Retreat price now comparable to smaller luxury cruise lines) in the near future. Might go back to Azamara

As the World Cup games are on at the moment, you may be lucky and the CD will decide to have the games on in the Theatre.

We were on Silhouette in July 2018, when the World Cup was in St Petersburg. All matches were streamed.

Also the same for the Euro’s final on 31/07/22 on Silhouette.

    Different CD’s, but same approach.

    July 2018.

Just got off Apex (Thanksgiving week cruise). World Cup games were shown at the Rooftop, not the Theatre.

All WC matches were shown but not too many people watching.

  14. Are they serving snacks at the Craft Social Bar yet? Will be on Apex on Saturday (right after you) for the third time in the past 13 months. In the app, Craft Social Bar has a snack menu but when I visited in the past (Sept 21 and Nov 21), they said they didn't serve snacks. Need to munch on something while drinking 😅

  15. Did they serve snacks at the Craft Social bar?

I've been on Apex twice last year and I am scheduled to be back on it for Thanksgiving week this year. Both times last year, the app showed snack menu at the Craft Social Bar but in reality, they didn't serve any snacks. I think it had to do with limited service due to COVID.

I like munching on stuff while drinking and watching sports.

  16. I really enjoyed S3 Sky Suite on the Apex last year. The balcony was huge and there was sense of privacy. Some people commented that it might not be private when the Magic Carpet moved up and down but whenever Magic Carpet moved (which wasn't often), no one was on the Magic Carpet and no noise issues from Magic Carpet either

Checked the website for my cruise on the Millenium Feb 21th. Hundreds of cabins are unsold (shows availability). Will they sail if there are only 500 on a 2,000 plus person ship , must be a breakeven number or are they locked into paying crew and other costs no matter what ?? Any cash flow better than no cash flow in the cruise industry ??

You should be fine. I was on Millennium in Dec 21 and we sailed with passengers between 400-500. Also someone posted here and asked a crew member about break even point and a crew member supposedly said the ship breaks even with 1/3 capacity
