On Navigator in December our waiter actually forgot to put in our food order on the first night. When we and the head waiter realized this we walked out and never went back to the MDR for the rest of our cruise.
-
What? Wait! In his PDFs of the compass it appeared that the headliner for the night was not a live show. It was a movie, Everest.
-
Really? Are some "headliners" in the main theater. A film?!?

Bob, what is the advantage to Royal to have everyone to go to My Time Dining? I would think that the two traditional seatings would be more manageable rather than people coming and going at different times all evening.

Just did online for Adventure in a few days and only the last 4 digits needed.

On Navigator in December at "Captain's Corner" Q & A: a 12 year old boy asked this very question. The captain told us that he couldn't reveal details but the biggest advantage was that our ship could go faster for a longer period of time than any pirate boat.

Ditto on the use of the "cooler" in cabin. It is not a refrigerator nor an insulated cooler. We made this mistake by taking a small carton of chocolate milk back to our cabin and placed it this "box". Next morning it was curdled.

Maybe we are introverts and not really interested in meeting the community of passengers ;) Actually - I have never been on one of the bigger ships with all the private areas, so I am kidding.
But the point about being introverted is true - we cruise for the ports and tend to spend more time in our cabin than many people.
I agree with my fellow Minnesotan. We also don't meet much of the "community" on a cruise. We ask for a table for 2 when we dine. We also spend a lot of time in our cabin and together in ports.
As a physician I see patients every 15 minutes every day. I see the "community" all day long. I need some quiet time with my wife.

On Allure this coming May. Staying of Deck 17, CLS, same hallway as suites lounge and Coastal Kitchen.
My question: Do you have to go down an elevator and walk forward to get to the sun deck? Or is there someway to walk forward without using an elevator?
-
That's right. Exclusive rights for suites guests has nothing to do with loyalty or C&A status.
You pay more for your current suite cruise and you get more exclusive benefits and perks.
-
I think that you were already infected before you got on the ship.
The airplane is the culprit. Arm rests and tray tables are the worst offenders according to public health studies. We have surface sanitizing wipes we use before we settle into our airplane seat. Then we have hand sanitizer if we do touch the air vent control or the bathroom handles. As someone posted earlier, the air flow in a plane is recirculated so that person with the bronchitis ahead or behind you affects you also.
On the ship we use our elbow to push the elevator buttons. Also we try not to use the handrails at all.

On Navigator in December, same terminal. Being in the "suites" lines offered very, very fast luggage scan, no wait lines and special registration for seapass card. Met by concierge and went right on ship.
From drop off to first step on ship was 14 minutes.
Disembarkation was quite speedy with luggage in the suites location, bright red luggage tags, and then a suites line to go through customs ahead of those without suites designation.

This is the fifth thread that I have stated the same thing: C&A points are meaningless to RCI on a particular current cruise. What matters is the DOLLARS that you spend on your current cruise. I.E. What have you done for me, RCI, lately?
Many people on this very thread have stated that they book cheap inside cabins to get cheap C&A points.
We always fly first class, we always book Grand Suites and above; Crown Loft Suite next on Allure.
We pay real dollars for perks and we do not want to have to deal with rude, uneducated, violent, drunk, puking passengers in the MDR or Windjammer. If this is class distinction, then let it begin.

On Navigator in December with gold colored card; Grand Suite. They did ask for gold seapass cards at the maitre de stand each time.We ate breakfast in Chops every morning.
We loved being waited on and having the same waiter each day. He knew what beverages we wanted. The cooked to order options were done very well. I always judge a breakfast by their eggs benedict. This was prepared so well that I asked to speak to the cook to tell him what a wonderful job he was doing.
This a a great suites perk!

Starting May 1 on Oasis class and above, in a GS or above, VOOM is free.

On Navigator in December, one device internet package, with iPhone 6.
Turned it to airplane mode and turned off cellular data.
We were able to send and receive text messages with no charges from Verizon.
There is an iPhone app that uses the ship's internet connection on the to actually place telephone calls to anywhere: "GV Phone".

JTB: we will also join you on March 5 sailing. It will feel great to be warm; temperature in Minneapolis now 11 degrees.
-
I've stated this before: RCI rewards those that pay more dollars for their current cruise than those who may have accumulated C&A points over past years by staying in the less expensive or interior cabins.
Even if you are D or D+, what have you done for RCI recently? Suite guests are paying dearly for a Suites Lounge and access to Coastal Kitchen with their gold colored Seapass cards.
If you want more exclusive perks and less crowded lounges, then pay for them by booking Grand Suites and above.

I just don't understand having the emotional need to display one's status.
First it was the C & A pins, then the special engraved name tags. Now shirts with status displayed worn each and every day to show off his status?!?

In my opinion purchasing a cruise is similar to purchasing an airline ticket. Once I make the purchase of the plane ticket I never again look at the price of my flight. The price may go down or it may go up. I have made my decision and there is no reason to second guess myself.
To the OP: Live with your cruise purchase decision and don't look back. And please don't take it out on the hard working crew.

It has happened to us when our travel agent is making some modification to our reservation; i.e. complimentary specialty dining, complimentary OBC, etc. The next day it is again available.

Please use a travel agent. They can fix problems very quickly.

On Navigator in December I went to the "Captain's Corner", the Q&A with officers. I asked the captain this very question.
All of the replies are correct: unpredictable, it depends, etc, etc.
Intuitively, I would think "port" side means where the ship meets the port; but that's not it at all...
