I'm confused but guessing I'm not the only one. When I purchase the UBP do I also have to purchase the soda package or are all my bevarges covered by the UBP. Not a huge soda drinker but a couple @ lunch & dinner is possible.
This is the part I am curious about also....
That list that someone posted from the beverage manager, stated no sodas.

I have heard Canaveral is really good about embark and debark.
. We bought FTTF so we could drop our carry on bags in the room. Wife insists we have carry on's, and I don't want to lug them around till our room is ready.
. We are platinum with Princess. With Princess our room is always ready when we board. Our first cruise with Carnival was on the Triumph and I don't remember having to wait for the room then. From what I've read here though, they let you board now before the rooms are ready.
. I'm trying to get a feel for directions on where we go. We have never been to PC. before. centurycruiser says VIP entrance is on the right side of the terminal, others on the left. I'm gonna try to use goggle earth or something to get an idea of where that would be. IT IS CLEARLY MARKED WHEN YOU ARRIVE. wILL BE EASY TO FIND.
. Is there a parking garage or just a lot?
GARAGE RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM TERMINAL ENTRANCE. EASY AS COULD BE.
Do they call for wedding, then plat. diam., then FTTF over a PA. or how do you know it's your turn?
THEY WILL MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE VIP LOUNGE FOR EACH GROUP AS THEY WANT THEM.
You guys have already given me a way better picture of what we need to do than I had before THANKS!
Hope that helps...

Port Canaveral is by far the best embarkation port we have use thus far...
In Dec. we arrived around 10AM, dropped off our bags with porters, headed around into garage to park and about 10:20 were entering the security checkpoint.
Went into the VIP lounge and checked in. (done around 10:30)
Sat for maybe two minutes, then they started taking the two wedding parties upstairs.
The about 5 minutes later, took Diamond and platinum up.
Once we got upstairs, they had the wedding off to the right together.
Started lining Diamond and Platinumup in seats next to entrance.
Sat there until about 5-10 minutes till 11....
While we were there, they started bringing up the FTTF people and seated them in the rows of seats behind us, leaving a half a row or so, for any late arriving Diamond/Platinums.
They took the wedding in, then Diamond and Platinums up, then FTTF after us.
I'd imagine all Diamond/Platinum and FTTF should have been on by 11:10-11:15 at the latest.
We arrived at our Cove Cabin right at 11AM.
4 of our 6 bags were already sitting next to our door.
The other 2 bags arrived before noon.
You will definitely love how smooth Port Canaveral runs things.

LOVED IT.
One of the only two things I liked on the Dream. (prefer spirit and Fantasy class over Dream/Conquest class)
Was amazing watching the flying fish flying away from the ship.
Saw Dolphins as we approached St. Martin.
The lifeboats above are not nearly as close as they appear in most pictures.
DW did her research and made sure we were not under the galley.
Got us a cabin, about five steps away from glass Atrium elevators.
One deck up to dinner (left) and main lounge. (right)
Nice to able to leave cabin and be at dinner or show in two minutes.
The only reason I would ever choose a Dream class ship again, would be for the Cove.

Nice to see a theme cruise, NOT leaving from Miami or Fort Lauderdale...

Since most cove balconies are situated under the deck where the casino, lounges and show room are located, we were just wondering if you can hear a lot of noise in them--especially at night when you're trying to sleep? Just stay out from under the galley.
Also, do the partitions on either side of the balcony on a cove close you off better from neighboring balconies than the partitions do on a regular balcony cabin? We like to sit out at night with our balcony lights off and watch the stars and passing ships, etc. Invariably, someone turns their outside balcony light on in a neighboring cabin and leaves it on all week long. Just wondering if the cove balconies eliminate that problem?
Nope. Jackwads next door to us in December were the only lights on the entire side of the boat. Left their light on all week.
Thanks for any and all input!

In my opinion I'm not sure about legal ramifications. There is no difference than all the kids attending the same high school. Now if they were allowing 19 and up (out of high school) I might see where you are going, but not with high school students.
I graduated at 17.
Two guys I graduated with were already 19 and 20 on graduation day, due to being held back. (the 19 year old wasn't his fault, he got sick back in 2nd or 3rd grade, missed most of the year and got held back. The 20 year old was the school bully and dumb as a box of rocks.)
Now by your logic, they should allow anyone still in high school into the teen club.
18 sounds like a reasonable cut off.
It is amazing how everyone feels every rule should be bent to fit their personal situation, even though I'm sure many of the same people would sue Carnival if anything happened between a 19 year old and their teen.
(just count the "sue Carnival" threads on the first page today.)
Litigious people force companies to make these stiff rules, to cover themselves.

They block the view, trust me... We had #13, and sitting on the steps, or in the loungers, couldn't look left down the beach because of the new villa next door. And no matter what you think from (my) photo, they do sit further forward on the beach than the existing cabanas. Also, the equipment rental shack is still there, between the pirate bar and the first of the three villas that are next to one another.
It looks like they built one next to the pink cabana which is the one we always choose. (as long as my path to the bathroom up the hill isn't blocked, I doubt we'll be affected.)
So how far out in front of the existing cabanas are they then?
If they are far enough out that Carnival can't place loungers in front of them, we might have to try those next time instead....
Do they obstruct your view of the beach and ocean or just the trees beside you cabana?

It sounds like Carnival is ruining HAL's once exclusive private paradise.
How is Carnival ruining HAL's private island?
HAL is the company building the new two story cabanas and buying the new 200 pax glass bottom boat for the island.

Why not just run a building the entire length of the beach and be done with it?
They look horrible to me. To act like it is not a significant change is disingenuous. The existing cabanas are small structures set off quite a bit from the water. These are much wider two story structures closer to the water line and taking up a bigger portion of the beach.
Where do you see them being closer to the waterline????
They appear to be the exact same distance and right in line with the existing cabanas.
They MAY appear closer, because the porches are covered on the new structures, not uncovered like the old.
The front of the new structures line up with the front of the old cabana's decks.
To me, the tons of loungers they pile on the beach in front of the cabanas is a bigger eyesore than another cabana to the side, that I am not even looking at.

:( What ugly monstrosities on such a gorgeous beach. The pirate bar was bad enough but those things look way out of place.
3 of them are just replacing the equipment rental shack and all the boats and equipment strewn around the beach.
One of the remaining two, is blocking the bathroom's view to the beach and the other is in between like 12 and 13 or so.
Unless you are weird and like looking at a neighboring cabana, rather than the gorgeous water and sandy beach, these new cabanas shouldn't bother anybody's view.
Just took away a few of those great hammocks in between the old cabanas.

Fresh off the press at USA Today...
http://www.usatoday.com/story/cruiselog/2013/02/05/holland-america-island-beach-villas/1892629/
Looks amazing.
We have rented a cabana on all 3 of our trips to HMC.
Never have had enough people to rent the huge private cabana.
These look like something in between and welcome to those who love the original 15 cabanas.

Movie wise, on the big screen, I felt like I was cruising 5 years ago. (except Capt. America from last year)
The free movies in the cabin were even worse. A few that were playing our last cruise and one that was playing a year ago on the Legend.
(I'm guessing Carnival's way of forcing you to buy a PPV movie if you're bored)
The TV stations ABC, CBS and NBC were from Miami. Fox was from Pittsburgh. (seriously)
If you like trivia, this was by far the best ship for trivia.
It started every day around 9AM and alternated with other games at the Ocean Plaza until 4PM ish.
Never been on a ship with 5+ trivia games every day, including days in port.
The entertainment staff that conducted them were also great.
Ben from England was the funniest.
Charlotte from England was also very good.
Hope that helps...
Sorry I don't have a photo site to upload pictures to.
(and with trying to catch up after coming home 2 days before Christmas, I don't have time to set one up right now.)
Oh and Formal Nights were Nassau night and 2nd Sea Day after St. Maarten.

Do not think this excursion is for a 4 year old.
I will second that assesment.
It was ALOT of boat time for me....
You stop at a beachside cafe for lunch for maybe an hour. (maybe slightly less)
Also a quick stop at a resort area with really shallow water, to stretch the legs a get out for maybe 15-20 minutes.
Everything else is time on the boat or snorkeling.

The worst part of the day was that all snorkel gear was dumped back into one box after the first stop, so for the next two stops, those who chose to use it again used unsanitized gear that was most likely not what they had used the first time. It was impossible to distinguish as it was all identical. There was nothing to sanitize it onboard. Very disappointed that we were not able to snorkel after the first stop. There were other minor issues, but this really impacted more than half the day as we had really looked forward to the snorkeling.
Capt. Bob emailed afterwards that this will be corrected, but definitely something to be aware of and verify has been done.
Can verify that Capt. Bob took our flippers and kept them by the engines, but asked that we keep our own mask and snorkle with us all day.
Thought that was weird, but I forgot about this post.
(I always keep my personal equipment with me all day on every excursion I take.)
So I can verify that he has listened to the previous poster.

FYI
The Cruise director of the Dream is a girl named Jaime and her asst. cruise director was named Marcello.
Marcello is leaving the Dream in two weeks to take over as CD on the Imagination or Inspiration. (can't remember which he said)
Then Jaime has a guy she worked with before, nicknamed "Gumby" who she had worked with before, taking over as asst. CD when Marcello leaves.

Capt Bob does not charge for drinks/water on his boat. You are not allowed to take drinks/water to lunch at the restaurant. There is NO bathroom on the boat. Yes, bathroom at restaurant or go in the Caribbean just like the fish.
The stops are areas to snorkel and one very nice stop for lunch. Bob provides snorkel gear for those that do not have their own.
Bob does appreciate tip at end of excursion.
Thanks for the super fast answer...
I figured a boat that small wouldn't have a bathroom, but just wanted to verify...
Guess I'll make like the fishes while snorkeling. :D
Very cool that Capt. Bob supplies the drinks onboard...
Will budget for the restaurant.
The tip shall go up accordingly.:)

Booked with Captain Bob for Dec. 19th when we are there with the Dream...
Couple of minor questions...
1) How much were the sodas and water offered on board?
(so I can insure we have enough cash to settle up at the end.)
2) Is there a bathroom (head) on the boat?
Never taken an excursion on such a small boat.
I assume there is a bathroom at the restaurant, lunch stop.
Just curious about riding between stops what is available.
Thanks in advance...

You want the best music on a cruise? Try a sixthman cruise. Expensive, but 30 real-touring bands!
Ok, I haven't been on one yet (leave in 8 days), but from everything I hear, it is the best thing ever :)
One of the guys I work with is also the head of security at our local arena.
He was already asked and going to work security for the 311 cruise.
Was standing in his office Tuesday, when he got the call to work the Kid Rock cruise coming up.
Said they get free cabin and only have to work during the scheduled concerts and signings.
The rest of the time is theirs. (bands already have their own 24/7 guards)
Tough work if you can get it.

Would you mind sharing which tour you booked with? I'm looking for a simi-private tour, no more than 30 or so people like you mentioned. We are wanting to do a combo tour with stingray city & snorkeing also. Did your tour offer anything like that? Many Thanks!!
Stingray Sailing only carries 25 people and does SRC and 1 reef snorkle stop on the way back.
Did Nativeways my first trip to GC and it was a poorly run excursion.
Did SR Sailing my last trip there and it was very professional and alot of fun.
Booked with them again for our stop there next week.
Cannot wait.

That is why I asked if anyone had used the place. The site also says:
·We have on site 24 hour security.
· Our facility in Jacksonville has 16 day/night surveillance cameras & ADT State of Art Perimeter Security Beams.
If they park their shuttle busses there overnight I guess they think it is pretty safe and that big bus they have pictured cost way more than my van that I would be parking there.
I am only familiar with Park and Fly type lots. In Atlanta those run around $6-$8 a day. JAXPORT at $15 a day seems a little steep to me. We are staying at a hotel that said we can park there if we need to. That is the back up plan.
Maybe that shed where they park their 3 vans and a bus are somewhere near their house or something?
And generally, if kids are jacking cars to joyride, not to terribly many could even get a bus like that in gear, to try and steal....So other than vandalism, the larger vehicles should be genrally safe anyway.
Like I said, to each their own....
If you do choose to use that lot, definitely report back how it went.....

DID any of you actually LOOK at the pictures on the site?!?!?!
It looks ike you are parking your cars in a Farmer's field, next to a shed/garage, with a short fence around it..........
I'd pay a little more to ensure my car is left in a secure lot, with 7-8 foot barbed wire fences and security.
Parked at the lot in Jacksonville 3 times now and have had zero problems.
I guess everybody has a different priority for their money and the security of their 2nd most expensive investment. (generally)

Unlimited Internet Coming to Carnival!
in Carnival Cruise Lines
Posted
Just a heads up for those just reading the early parts of this thread up to Nov...about the Dream having unlimited internet.
They still had it on our late December cruise, but I have read that the first cruise of the new year that the Dream did away with the Unlimited Internet package and had gone back to paying by the minutes.
Just verify before going by old posts about which ships HAD unlimited internet at that time.
