  1. Maybe if all kids were well behaved and didn’t run around and if parents didn’t allow which behavior, kids could go into the Suite Lounge at night. But, on a recent Harmony formal night, an older woman, in a formal dress, was sitting not far from us enjoying a cocktail with her husband, when 2 boys maybe 7 and 20 were running and bumped into her arm and her drink went down the front of her. Not all kids are brats, but not all are well behaved. That poor woman never made it to dinner in her beautiful blue dress. The parents never said a word or apologized for the brats behavior. Kids and teens have places to go, why not adults?

To us the genie is like a dog in heat, always following behind and sniffing for signs of tipping opportunities. We can do without that, and we get everything we enjoy about suites from the CLS. They are the best suites (IMO) on the ship for comfort vs price.

Yes, if we had the Genie, he or she would get the week off.  I don’t need or want someone following us around. We do enjoy the CLS and the Suite Lounge. Best trip ever.

I put in a bid for a royal upgrade from JS to CLS on Symphony but am now having second thoughts since apparently some CLS overlook the sports court and not the water.  Has anyone stayed in a CLS that did not have an ocean view from the balcony? Was it worth the extra cost of a CLS even without the ocean view?  I know there is no way to pick a particular room with this kind of upgrade, so whatever we get we get which probably isn't the "best" room.  Now considering canceling and staying with my JS cabin that I like.  Any pics from these CLS rooms to share?  thanks!

We LOVED the CLS. it was the best cruise and that room was a once in a lifetime treat. Ruined me for all other cruises, unless I pay dearly for it.

We Royaled Up to CLS also and we’re also given one that overlooked the sports deck on the Harmony. Once they changed the stateroom on my reservation, I immediately called RCL and my TA and asked that it be changed. Because there were still so many left, they did change it. I do]id not want to be overlooking the sports deck. Also, they don’t a]have any provacy. You need to keep your curtains close, especially at night!!!!!

Not to hijack....but those that are getting the offers, are you spending most of your time on the slots? Tables? I spend a lot of money at the tables and poker and never get anything.

I spend my time at the slots and get the free offers. My husband sits at the tables and doesn’t get squat.

No one is allowed in until 11 a.m.  There are no suite lines outside or inside.  You have to stand outside in one of four lines.  There is a bench to the right of the doors where those who need to sit can do so.  Restrooms are behind the bench.   We started having employees come out to the lines around 10:15 asking to see your vaccination card, proof of negative test and boarding docs.  You should keep those 3 out at all times since you will be asked repeatedly until you board the ship for those documents.

There was a Suite Line outside for the Jan 30th Harmony Cruise. We walked up to it at 10:30 and we’re checked in and in the Suite waiting Area by 10:40 and the Suite Lounge by 11:05.

You're the second person I've read on here today that said the Sunshine is dirty/in poor repair. It's disappointing to hear because she just came out of a drydock in November.

Although I do think we'll disagree on the food, but I'll see on Monday when I embark for a 7-day cruise. I've never found Carnival's food to be lacking - and I don't expect any different next week.

The thing is the Sunshine is pretty much the best ship that Carnival can put in Charleston with their current agreement with the city.

I never had a problem with food on Carnival before, but this was beyond bad.

  8. We haven’t cruised in Carnival in at least 15 yrs and of that 15, we took a 12 yr hiatus. After retiring to SC, we thought we’d give Carnival a try seeing the Sunshine sails out of Charleston. It would be great to be so close to the port and be able to do a monthly cruise. This ship is dirty, smells like raw sewage when you walk down the halls. They only provide room cleaning.refreshing once daily. I have to say the only food that was half way decent was the baked potato and the soft serve ice cream. It was the first cruise in 20+ that we lost weight on. I’d say 98% of the staff were professional and pleasant. Carnival’s Covid policy was lacking, unlike Royal and NCL.  Tables weren’t cleaned between people using them. They did enforce the masks in restaurants most of the time.

Unfortunately, no other cruise lines sail out of this port and never will because of noise ordinances and the locals not wanting a ship in their town. What they fail to realize is, many of these passengers bring revenue to the city by staying in hotels, eating in restaurants and shopping there. Not to mention all the locals Who now work at the pier when the ships are coming in or leaving.  We’ll continue to drive the extra distance down to Port Canaveral for better ships, multiple lines and multiple routes.

  9. Thanks for your review. We’re booked on an upcoming Sunshine cruise (my husband’s choice). I’ve done 3 Carnival, 15 NCL, 2 Princess, 2 Celebrity and just got off our first RCCL a week ago. They all had their own advantages/disadvantages. I have to say RCCL has exceeded my expectations especially for a mega ship. After getting off the Harmony, I’m afraid this next trip is going to be such a let down. Ai’m going in with an open mind but…. Living in SC departing from Charleston will be so much easier. I wish other lines would consider leaving from here too.

  10. We had a bid in for a GS and I wasn’t hearing anything, so after we hadn’t heard anything in 3 weeks, we put in a bid for the owners and crown loft. We backed down the bid on the GS to the lowest  (by then it was 1/2 what we originally bid). Four days later, they accepted our crown loft and declined the owners. My husband was very happy because he wanted the loft. So, I’d bid on what you want the most at a slightly higher bid than any of the other categories .

  11. This is great news. Grand Bahamas was a great island to visit. I vacationed there many years when the Princess Hotels were operating and the Grand Bahama Vacations would run 4 day trips there. Glad to see Royal opening this resort and bringing more revenue to this island. It’s so different from Nassau.
