  1. Can the dividers between cabins be opened on Dream to join the space. We are planning a 2015 cruise. It is our first time on DCL though we've done many other lines. Most can open those dividers.

  2. As long as we cruisers continue to demand lower fares and more perks, things will disappear and evolve.

My grocery bill has increased dramatically this past year. Sometimes people forget that businesses are not immune from cost increases. So cotton swabs get swallowed up in a higher price for beef ...

    I agree wholeheartedly.

  3. What is RCLs policy re: bringing wine to drink in your cabin. We usually sail on Celebrity and they allow 2 bottles. My thought is same company, same policy. Does anyone know for sure.

  4. That's very possibly true. I didn't cruise in those "good old days". To be honest, it always sounded awful to me but that shows how we are all different. :)

Just as an aside (and I only say this to explain what my point has been), your original point was that freestyle sounds like hard work. That's what I have been discussing. I would never had entered a discussion about whether traditional cruising is better than what we have now, as it is just personal opinion. Some prefer one way and some prefer the other.

You're right. I don't know why I started this. Probably someone wrote something that I really connected with. I hope everyone continues to enjoy cruising however you prefer it.

  5. I suppose it's what you are used to, but I really don't see how it is any different to other holidays.

If we are on a non cruise holiday, we decide beforehand if there is anything we want to prebook (ie special occasions where we want to go somewhere in particular). Other than that, we take a few minutes during the day to decide what we want to do in the evening and book anything we need to.

It's exactly the same. I always struggle to understand why people think it will be so much harder because you are on a ship.

You, and other people prefer it to be all set out for you to take away the need to make these decisions. That is absolutely your choice and I would have no criticism of it. It probably is slightly easier, but that doesn't mean that freestyle is actually in any way hard.

That is exactly my point. Cruising is now like any other vacation. It used to be something very different and very special.

  6. Don't want to start any arguments here. We've been cruising since 1983. I remember thinking of a cruise as a choreographed vacation. I chose a ship. Picked a cabin. Paid my money. Went and had a great time. To get the same kind of vacation today you have look at very expensive cruises. I'm not complaining but now on mass market lines we do all the work coordinating dining venues with entertainment etc. it is what it is. I still love cruising.

  7. We are planning a multigenerational cruise for sept 2015. Have been cruising since 1983 on multiple cruise lines but no experience with Disney. We usually see price drops as the cruise date approaches. Some lines will give you the lower price some won't. What is best with Disney. Should we book now or wait a while. Please share your knowledge and experiences.
