  1. We’ve done YC on Divina. Everything you say is true. It is a great value. The issue we had is that there is no shade anywhere on the ship and from what I’m reading that hasn’t changed. Unfortunately that is a deal breaker for us. $99 a day is excessive and it appears that the only shade is in a cabana.

  2. Was on equinox this past October. Have always loved the Aqua Spa cafe but have noticed a deterioration in the offerings over the past several years. This last trip there were no daily specials. There was no fresh prep of any kind. There were a selection of small plates that were quite tasty but they never changed. After about 3 or 4 days they got very boring. There are lots of changes on X in general none of them good. On the other hand they were monitoring the chair hog situation quite successfully. I actually saw a pool butler remove someone’s belongings from chairs that had been unoccupied for more than a half hour. However in most other areas they just seem to be adding nails to the coffin.

  3. I can tell you if there are no umbrellas set up once it gets to Miami and there is no shade for loungers in the YC area, I will most certainly sail my paid in full February 2018 cruise but I will probably jump ship for my booked YC 2019 cruise on Seaside. If I cannot use the outside area to lay outside without shade, I will be bummed since I just want to veg and relax on vacation.

Maybe they will come out and be brought on once in Miami (I'm hoping).

I wholeheartedly agree. We live In South Florida. We do carribean cruises to relax and as you say “veg out” and we have no need for more sun. I’ll look forward to your posts regarding whether MSC does something about this. Our one cruise in YC on Divina was lovely except for the lack of shade. I was hoping they’d do something about it on Seaside. If they don’t we won’t be sailing on MSC. It’s a shame.

  4. When you are waitlisted for a particular cruise don’t you ha e to make a deposit on the cruise. I would think that holds the price that existed when you were waitlisted. This cruise has been waitlisted for a very long time. There are probably TAs that are holding these cabins. I don’t know how long they have until they release them.

  5. Don’t want to sound like a broken record but, the lack of shade is not negotiable. DH has had multiple skin cancers removed including 2 unrelated melonanimas. Probably his own fault from many years of playing golf without sunscreen we loved everything about YC except the shade issue and I was hoping they’d deal with it on this ship. If you add in the posted cost of a cabana there are many other options.

I agree with you. We live in south Florida and don’t need any more sun. We cruise the Caribbean for quick getaways. Yacht club seemed like a good option for that. We rarely get off ships in the Caribbean any more. We like to relax in the shade, read or do needlework. DH watches movies he’s downloaded to his iPad. We enjoy good entertainment and fine dining. YC was a

Nice change from Celebrity for the same price as an aqua class cabin.

  7. I’ve seen complaints about the lack of shade in YC on Divina. I made sure I made MSC aware of how I felt. I was hoping the omission would be corrected on Seaside. Guess it hasn’t. Very disappointing and definitely a deal breaker for us. To make it even worse we tried to find loungers on the shade on the regular pool deck one port day. Nonexistent. They have kiosks set up with tables sand chairs for the paying customers in the area over the overhang that usually has lounge chairs.

  8. We enjoy Blu and have since we first tried it on Silouette when it ways first introduced. That said on our Equinox cruise in Oct 2017 we found the dinners as enjoyable as always but the breakfasts were not up to the usual standard. The pancakes and French toast were obviously served after sitting in a prep area for a while and my DH had to send back eggs that were not completely cooked. A shame Blu used to have the best breakfasts at sea for any price. On the positive side they was a pool butler actually removing personal items left on lounge chairs for over 30 minutes, IMO a very we,come development.

  9. We were on the Oct 27 sailing on Equinox and I kept thinking oh well another nail in Celebrity’s coffin. The bar issue is a

Biggie on many levels. The breakfast in Blu has definitely deteriorated though the dinners where as always excellent and the service was impeccable at all times. The staff was fantastic. We have one more cruise booked and the. We’ll see.

  10. If you do get bumped up to AQ, you can in all likelihood still join your friends in the MDR. Would be a shame as that is the main perk for AQ (in fact, other than that I would almost consider it a downgrade from many of the Concierge cabins due to often worse locations for AQ).

I wholeheartedly agree but I’m not sure my friends would appreciate Blu and spending time together is the purpose of this particular trip.

  11. What are the details of the dining pkg. we did this a few yrs ago but it was a different set up than now. Then if you booked at least 4 restaurants they discounted a certain percentage off everything you ordered. Don’t recall the percentage but I do remember price was very reasonable.

  12. I can see what people might be talking about and I'll have to see if I have a picture. But it is basically a shower tub combo and there is a glass partition that doesn't move on the end by the controls that covers half the length of the shower. The other end is open.

So you have to reach 1/2 the length of the tub to turn it on. Since the other 1/2 is open the water could spray out. Just watch where you have the shower head positioned.

I agree. The half glass partition makes it awkward to turn on without getting wet but the real problem is the ability of older people that may not be as limber to be able to contort themselves easily into the necessary position. Wasn't my favorite set up but was manageable.
