Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. First time RCI cruiser wondering what the snorkeling situation is at Labadee.....I'm asking about self-directed as opposed to the "Safari". I'm an advanced diver and a guide led mule train of novices is typically a lesson in disappointing frustration for me. Any beaches with good natural structure, or just endless sand??
  2. RCI Newbie here, with a quick question. We're booked on the Adventure-OTS April 12 2024 sailing. I'm starting to look at booking activities and all I can find for the Spa are massages, hair stuff and the like. Do they have a thermal suite with hot pool, thermal lounges, steam/chill rooms, etc?? I can find no mention of a thermal zone. Thanks
  3. Just occurred to me how I was lied to by the Love Boat TV show...... I'll start. Cabin size
  4. Lots of options. Usually a roast beast, of some kind at a slicing station. The roast beef was particularly good, but they also had turkey and ham... Had some really good fish and chips one night...I was impressed with their variety of vegetable options as well. Mixed sautéed summer squashes, steamed cauliflower, and brussels sprouts even made a few appearances!!!
  5. I booked this one at the last minute (a week out) and with a bit of trepidation since we're Celebrity first timers and the sailing was 10 days long.. Our biggest concern was avoiding withering stink-eye from the masses on "Chic" nights, as our cruise attire is typically very casual, and we're not dining room people or show-goers. I'm happy to say that we experienced no such shaming. To the contrary, all fellow cruisers I interacted with seemed very chill and just happy to be on vacation. That was a relief. The staff was friendly and helpful. We only ever ate at the Garden Cafe, so I can't speak to the food quality of dining room or specialty eateries. We loved the Garden Cafe! Aesthetically, it felt spacious with plenty of seating. The walk-ways were wider than we are used to on HAL or Carnival, which was nice. There was a good variety of food options and everything we had was far superior to offering we've had on other lines. One exception was a tough piece of minute steak I grabbed, but that can happen and could have been easily dealt with if there had been any steak knives available (why aren't there?) The biggest pleasant surprise was the PIZZA!!! Some of the best pizza I've had....ever....and I've had a pizza or two. We loved the variety of seating all over the ship, for the most part....some seating was apparently built for NBA basketball players as the horizontal seating surface would require thighs of a length not found on most humans in order to sit comfortably. Overall, the Silhouette is a fantastic ship, and Celebrity is now another cruise option for us. Already looking for a future cruise...
  6. Thanks for the answers. I understand what the docs say (even though that's a bit vague, INHO), my question was more to the level of adherence As I said, we are not MDR or show people, so I just wanted some assurance that we'd not be confronted on Chic night on our way to casino by a throng of shocked pearl clutchers. Really didn't intend this to be a spectacle thread. I would have asked about smoking areas if that was my intent. Again, thanks. Sounds like we'll be OK.
  7. First time Celebrity cruisers, and we're wondering if the "Chic" attire applies to the entire ship or just MDR/specialty dining and shows. We don't eat in the MDR, so on "Chic" nights are we going to get the stink eye for wandering the ship in nice shorts, sandals and camp shirts? I've scoured the web site and it's not really clear on the subject. Thanks in advance
  8. Yep. Deck 8 mid-ship. Nice location!!
  9. Thanks for the input. Just stumbled on a deal we couldn't pass up, so we figured we'd give celebrity a try. We usually sail with Carnival or HAL....Our sailing is only a week out, so I guess they can't think about what cabin to assign for too long.
  10. First time Celebrity cruiser here.... How far in advance are guaranteed cabins assigned? Thanks in advance.
