  1. Thank you posting this!! Just called our TA and was able to have this promo added to our Dec 2016 Westerdam cruise. We were able to keep Explore4 as well as $100 ZPM credit- so this added another $200 OBC to our booking!!

Gotta LOVE CC and all the great information here!!

Woo hoo!! When I called our TA this morning about adding this promo to our Dec 2016 booking, I wasn't thinking and totally forgot to ask about our June 2016 booking... so I called back this afternoon and now this promo is added to that one as well!! YAY!!! Again, thanks to DaveOKC for posting this.. total of $500 added OBC today between the two.

  2. Good until Oct. 31. From $50 to $400 per cabin.

It states that it is combinable with Explore4 ??

Check it out on HAL website.

  3. We don't often have multiple sources of OBC, but on our N.A. cruise last Dec our bill itemized the three separate sources.

    .

That was the same for us. All were itemized separately. On our 9/12/15 final statement HAL OBC was listed as Promo Credits (and listed individually for each of us) and TA OBC was listed as Gift Orders - Preliminary Manifest. Other credits (such as discounts for prepaid specialty restaurants) were simply listed as Loyalty. The unused promo credits were listed as such and were posted as a debit.

  4. It's definitely the promo OBC that is used first. We just left the Maasdam on Saturday. We had both HAL promo OBC and TA OBC - lots of both. We didn't use any of the TA OBC and all of it has already been credited to the credit card listed on our account. :) I tried to use all of the promo OBC but left $3.56 unused. On the final statement, that $3.56 was debited as unused promo credit. Hope this helps.

  5. Just had our June 2016 Fjords & Highlands cruise rebooked to include the Explore4 package. (Originally booked in April.) No change in fare and no change OBC from either HAL or our TA. Only had to give up a 3 bottle wine package. We'll end up with $880 OBC from TA and $600 OBC from HAL. I'll still watch to see if the fare comes down later but it will have to come down a lot for us to change it.

  6. The XtraFlex book light is the one I bring along. (Mine is purple.) I like it because it stands by itself and is lightweight. I don't really like those that only clip on to a book. Mine doubles as a nightlight. I keep it on the nightstand and can turn it on and use it as a flashlight during the night if I need to get up. The light allows me to easily see where I'm going and won't disturb DH. (Oh.. and I'm also a Kindle lover!!)

  7. We liked 5190 (5191 is mirror image) on verandah deck. Fully covered (keeps you out of the rain in Alaska!!) and huge balcony with side and aft views. We didn't care that the suite itself may have been a bit smaller - we didn't even notice. A little more of a walk to the Neptune lounge, but that didn't bother us.

  8. Are there any details you might be able to share, like an item order #? I wouldn't expect any of your personal details.

OVgirl - I think it helped that I had already purchased both the thermal spa passes and the retreat cabana. I contacted ship services by responding to a confirmation for one of the packages I purchased - sorry, there was no order number. You might try responding to one of your confirmation emails as I did (if you have one) and attaching a copy of the V.I.P package flyer skiingj attached to his post.

  9. I decided not to wait until we got onboard to check on the Noordam Retreat package skiingj posted earlier in this thread.

I sent an email to Ship Services 2 days ago and asked about it. We had already prepurchased both the Retreat Cabana and the Thermal Spa Package for our upcoming 11 day cruise on the Noordam. I'm happy to report that we are able to exchange the packages we purchased for the V.I.P. Cabana Retreat Absolute Indulgence package and have the difference refunded to us!!

A big "Thank You" to skiingj for the tip and also to HAL Ship Services!!

  10. We just got off the Noordam 11 day. In our cabin was this flyer and at first I told my wife #&!! no but when doing the math it was a great deal. So we quickly booked an awesome Cabana. The attendants were spectacular! We kept track of our drinks and other offerings and figured out we would have spent $1018.75 and got a private very quite cabana with great service. Only half where used. Hope others get this deal!

That's a fantastic deal skiinj. We are on the Noordam 11 day sailing March 30. We've reserved & paid for a cabana - $499 and prepurchased the spa pass - another $499 - so it has cost us more already than the special VIP package AND that's without the added drinks & dinner it includes. I wonder if HAL will be willing to make a deal with me after we board - if they are offering it then, of course. You can bet I'll be checking with the concierge.

  11. Make that 199 for 7 days, 399 for 14.

This is talking about the Nieuw A, but the Cabana Club prices there are the same as on the Noordam. Also, it says 2011-2012, but the prices haven't changed.

A couple of weeks ago we reserved one for next March on the Noordam - 11 Day Southern Caribbean Wayfarer. The cost was $499 and we were not allowed to choose a particular cabana.

  12. There is currently a $200pp price drop on our Maasdam Canada & New England cruise for September 2015.

We have Explore 4 and are in a Neptune suite. The Explore package for us includes $300 OBC, a Pinnacle Grill dinner, a Canaletto dinner & the beverage package. So, for us, the price drop isn't enough for us to switch. I figure it still needs to drop a couple hundred more to be worth it for us to rebook.

(It's also interesting that we initially booked this sailing before Explore 4. Then we rebooked to add Explore 4, and a price drop where we saved $200pp. So, we were already ahead.)
  13. We are just off the Westerdam and we ate most of our dinners in the Pinnacle Grill. The first night we had the new deconstructed salad, and I actually liked it - especially the "Parmesan dish" it came in. It was only served that way the first night. After that, it was the traditional Caesar salad, assembled table side. It was good but I was a little disappointed they changed it back.

  14. I will be sailing the Westerdam for the first time, to Alaska in June, and would love to hear any other observations about the ship you might have. Thanks!

p.s. how did you like the thermal suite? I love the one on the Oosterdam and always buy the 1 week pass.

You'll find the Westerdam in great shape and the crew is great. We ate dinner 6 nights in the Pinnacle Grill and very much enjoyed our excellent servers - Andus & Ria. (sp?) We ate 1 night in the Canaletto but were not impressed. We didn't care for the new menu at all.

We did not attend any shows in the Vista Lounge but instead we listened to Adagio (classical duo) every night in the Explorer Lounge after dinner. These two young women (pianist & violinist) were excellent. Highly recommended.

We also really enjoy the thermal suite. Most of the time we were the only ones in the hydrotherapy pool and usually had no trouble getting a tile lounger.. just once all of them were occupied so we left. Note that we saved $50 by purchasing directly from ship services a couple of weeks before we sailed, so you might want to do that too. (And if you do purchase early and find out the embarkation special is less, you can get a refund of the overpayment if you request it.)
